I don't think it's gonna be terrible, I think it's gonna be predictable and safe just like the Illumination cartoon for Mario. Nintendo is hyper protective of their IPs and literally has a platoon of salarymen combing the script as we speak.
On a more serious note however I feel the same Illumination movie might influence Mario and DK branding going forward a little bit and the same might probably happen to Zelda, well if anything, I expect the next big title to coincide in terms of release window with the movie, that being 2027. Maybe it will force Nintendo to go back to basics a little. One could hope.

I'm most curious about what they'll do for the story. I really hope they don't just adapt a game. Best case is some unique story focused on fun exploration thst uses elements from the games (Master Sword, magic spells, sub items, Sages, time travel, alternate worlds, etc).
Story and casting are easily the two most important things. If they fuck up either its cooked. I don't know why this has to be live action.
