Tim won

he dragged apple like a naughty little bitch across the floor and spanked her dirty ass.

Tim Apple is not gonna be happy about this post

Apple kicked Fortnite off the App Store nearly five years ago after Epic Games added its own in-app payment system to the game, which violated Apple’s rules. But after a major court ruling in Epic Games v. Apple that forced Apple to not take fees from purchases made outside of apps, the game is available to play on US iPhones once again.

many thought that Epic wouldn't achieve anything in its fight against Apple, but Fortnite is back on the iPhone in the US and Apple has been forced to not take fees from purchases made outside of apps. That seems like a win for all developers to me

theverge.com/news/661290/fortnite-ios-iphone-epic-games-back-apple-app-store

And Dead Island 2 is free on Epic Store.

Epic won, Anon Babble lost.

Buys exclusives and locks them to his shitty store as exclusives

Consumer rights

lol

you couldn't pay me to play that thoughbeit

>Buys exclusives and locks them to his shitty store as exclusives

Meanwhile Valve doesn't have to buy exclusives just because of how much marketshare they control. Epic shouldn't have to buy exclusives, but they have to to be competitive.

Apple thought they could get a piece of the pie and hide behind 1000 lawyers and they still ended up losing. Hilarious because usually these conglomerates have too much power so I'd side with Epic just this one time.

Who has Valve ever sued? (With infinite money)

OH right nobody.

reminder that the only reason timmy even did this was because Apple wouldn't give them a backroom deal

After all his shitting over the PC as a gaming platform for a decade and a half he doesn't even deserve any marketshare

Which is generally sound but they turned out to be a massive money sink for them and wasn't the massive driver they hoped for.

Well you generally need a reason to sue, which Valve doesn't.

Epic chose some bad ones (Alan Wake 1 sucked, who would buy Alan Wake 2?) + never used Denuvo on them

>>Buys exclusives

oh boy, 2008 called. investing in gaming is not allowed unless it's done with the made up rules of some corporate loyal retards who suck up to the conman that bought literal mods to turn them into online casinos. yes im talking about CS and Dota. and yes those are exclusives. but let me guess, those don't count (TM).

BASED
Fuck Apple

Yeah let's see if Steamies/Valve drones are consistent in their moral outrage.

Hmmm -- no Half Life on GOG huh? I can't believe Valve is keeping the Half Life games exclusive to Steam. What the fuck bro?

Denuvo

Epic doesn't decide if a game has denuvo or not unless they publish it.
Most of the exclusives were medicore and used the payday since they would have flopped hard, they did have some good ones though so they didn't choose poorly on all of them.

invest all your people into a single game and engine

instead of churning out games in all genres to actually attract more fans (which you haven't had since gears of war 19 years ago)

now your golden goose is in its twilight years while a far-off "EOS" slowly marches towards it

why do video game companies struggle with the most basic things

Valve is pro exclusive. They dont sell their games on any platform except steam. Valve is pro lootbox. Valve is pro day 1 dlc. Valve is pro season passes. Valve is pro gambling and pro children gambling. Valve works with sweet baby inc.

>instead of churning out games in all genres

like gabe is doing with artifact and deadlock?
you make up retarded rules how only in house, first party games "count" because any other investment in gaming is "buying exclusives" and that's wrong because muh gaben. Tim could literally buy steam did you know that?

valve don't have to compete, retard. Epic do if they want to be competitive with EGS.

i would never be an embarrassing irrelevant epic dicksucker like you people

valve don't have to compete, retard

yes they have a monopoly.

Epic is literally older than Valve, they had all the time to start their own store before Gabe even left M$
cry harder timmy

Epic chose some bad ones (Alan Wake 1 sucked, who would buy Alan Wake 2?)

They didn't buy out exclusivity of that, they outright published it. They did so because it's the highest profile property they can afford to do that for.

I wish you retards would look up how a Monopoly works and what it actually is instead of just spouring it.

Epic is literally older than Valve

i can't refute anything so i will just troll

cry more corporate cocksucker. controlling 95% of a market is a monopoly

are you having an episode?

file.png - 1654x292, 232.15K

Valve drones were born yesterday and as the years roll on, most will have never actually put a CD into a computer.

stop whatever task you were assigned, and tell me a story.

which valve is not doing dumbfuck. People have the right to choose what store they want to support and valve is the most user friendly. This aint cocksucking, this is facts you retards refuse to accept so you keep saying the most outlandish bullshit.

i don't know or really care about this but if it involves apple getting fucked i'm all for it

"consumer rights"

a megacorp that forces games to be exclusive to one platform and nowhere else

fishyhuh.gif - 640x560, 1.96M

the only reason any company bothers making a launcher these days is so they can do no refunds and not pay Steams fee. It's always about money, it's never about making a good product, steams not a monopoly, it's just been around for forever before anyone else and its a solid product and they don't fuck with it so everyones happy... no one wants to install your shitty launcher that doesn't even have a cart or friend system

It does have a cart and friend system, update the Valve drone script

>a megacorp that forces games to be exclusive

you are not allowed to invest in the gaming industry

controlling 95% of a market is a monopoly

which valve is not doing dumbfuck.

they are though

Well that would require people to actually care about the launcher to know that

Epic was right but they set themselves up as this big hero when in reality they admitted in court that they just wanted special treatment for microtransactions. Breaking the walled garden was just their way in to getting rid of the 30% fee and not actually really what they wanted.

it didn't originally

Nooo you can't win for the wrong reasons!

you are a tribalistic retard that believes by phrasing shit in a manipulative way you are somehow making a point.
saying "forces exclusivity" doesn't mean anything irl. it's two companies making a deal that's advantageous to the developer. it's in no way anti consumer just because you sperg out at the idea of making a free account.

and not pay Steams fee

lol yes that's just a small tiny little thing right. poor gaben deserves 30% of games he didn't make because... he just does.

It's always about money

that gabe did not fucking earn. how on can you try to spin companies not wanting to sharing their own fucking money with an e-pimp that just happens to have an iron tight monopoly over the industry.

wtf is wrong with steamfags.

They should just let you post games on the store and... Not make money from it!

That's literally what Epic just won the right to do.

he could and you would, bitch

>They should just let you post games on the store

launchers don't really affect the game itself. they might be buggy and limited but they don't affect the game. you sperg over nothing.

outrage bait just isn't cutting it anymore

I hate Tim for abandoning Unreal and other nerd reasons but I'm glad he did this

Make UT2K25 or fuck off.

timmy i kneel
or so i would say if i played fortnite or owned a certified retarded-fag-device

one day i will get a steamfag to explain to me how Square and Epic coming to an agreement to put Kingdom hearts on PC via the Epic store is ant consumer.

Umm actually you should be legally required to give us free services

Why does anyone think this is a win for consumers?

thread about apple

people still cant stop bringing up steam

lmao

Shut up Tim Apple

Why does anyone think this is a win for consumers?

giving 30% to gabe is the only pro consumer thing in the industry.

>people still cant stop bringing up steam

discussion about eshops should somehow omit the biggest eshop monopoly in the gaming industry.

I mean it might depending on how it plays out and ultimately who it affects in the long run.
The schizo can't help himself

This is about apple opening its walls. The more relevant storefront here are the console ones not Steam.

I hope you like shitty f2p cash grab games (e.g. Fortnite) because they just became a lot more financially viable.

Well I don't play games on mobile, in fact I stay away from mobile anything as much as possible.
Yeah that is one of concerns I can see happening. Like I said it MIGHT but I have low expectations.

Valve doesn't sell a closed source phone OS with no alternative OS or store, nothing stops you from running windows or even loading up EGS or gog on the steamdeck

It's not comparable

Anon Babble suddenly loves mtx

Gee, I wonder who could be behind this?

Yeah retard. That's why the console storefronts are about to get threatened by this next.

Apple os is such kikery. How is it that you can't develop and sell any software that works on it without apple taking a cut? That's absurd. Microsoft is filled with niggers but they're still not that bad

yeah, because this is the ONE time he was actually in the right.

They should, but 30% is an extortionate cut by any measure. Epic’s 12% is a lot more reasonable for what a platform is actually providing.

Because not everyone has the money to purchase two separate storefronts, you know.

It costs money to install EGS right? I’m sure it does, otherwise the complaining wouldn’t make any sense

30% is an extortionate cut by any measure

While I think the cut should be lowered on all platforms (Steam, Consoles etc) I feel with them at least the cut doesn't fell like a waste for what they provide and continue to develop.
For mobile shit like iOS and Android it's not even close to justified and they provide a lot less to just about everyone involved.

Hope sexo

OIP (7) (28).jpg - 474x842, 94.09K

Um sir think of the nintenchildren...

Her chapter almost killed the game

no noticeable increase in playercount after getting back on ios

Yeah expected.

Valve takes a 30% cut of sales. Epic takes a 12% cut of sales (0% for the first $1M as of recently, but we'll ignore that for now). If I list a game on Steam for $10, and the same game on Epic for $7.95, so that I, as a developer, am paid the same $7 per sale, Valve might threaten me or even delist my game. That's textbook monopolistic behavior and there's an ongoing class-action antitrust lawsuit over it: Valve v. Wolfire Games.

Ok Tim

That's called a no favored nation clause which isn't uncommon in a lot of industries.
A big deal of the case is that Valve didn't write that in their terms except for Steam Keys.

Epic is owned by Tencent

Release Unreal Engine 1 under the BSD license, and I will create an Epic Games Store account, Timmy.

Tim Epic says that can't happen due to middleware but that's not true. The only middleware I'm aware of is the Galaxy audio subsystem and that source has been given out to fans

Source: I asked for it from the author and he gave me it years ago. Yes the oldunreal devs have it

No, you got that wrong, buddy. He said that only Unreal Engine 1 was feasible to release due to the absence of middleware.
forums.unrealengine.com/t/unreal-engine-1/14084/6

We definitely can't open source Unreal Engine 2 or 3, because of dependencies on a large number of external closed-source middleware packages with complex licensing requirements.

Open sourcing Unreal Engine 1 might be possible, but getting the source and dependencies into a releasable state would take a lot of cleanup effort that we just haven't been able to find time for. I hope we can do it someday!

November 12, 2014.

it's funny because oldunreal works just fine

Fucking good. I hate tim sweeney and I hate how rent seeking apple is with every little thing and its fantastic watching 2 retards fight it out.

What the fuck even is this comparison. One is acting like a complete gate keeper on your device, the other is one of many stores available on windows.

And how much of that 18% differential are the consumers seeing?

use someone's service and rules

surprise surprise gets kicked around when you break the rules

Hmmm... chud... I have the right download 1,488 apps with virus obtained totallytrustworthyipafiles dot com and install them in your carefully designed piece of hardware so I can spread it worldwide like ILOVEYOU did at the time

I know beforehand that your device does not allow that, and that there's plenty of competition that does allow me to do that, but I still want to buy your tech, and then complain about it

So Sony and Xbox don't get money when people buy stuff in Fortnite on console?

dependencies

oh whoops yeah, Galaxy counts for both, I probably misremembered. There's not really many deps though, he's not really correct there.

UE1 leaked src basically proves that, but there's no way in hell they'd spend time to clean up that mess either. The default UE1 script compiler has missing features like dynamic arrays and map, it's probably a never ever. At least the OU guys have dots and anth under NDA

based
apple really is the worst

Trying to strong arm the consumer into using your objectively inferior platform will continue to fail. I would hope you pathetic faggots are at least getting paid to post this stupid shit for Epic, but there are enough contrarian retards on this board now that I wouldn't be surprised if you do it for free.

It's actually not explicitly written in their rules because it would be illegal, but they've been caught doing it and "unofficially" "clarifying" their rules in writing for individual game devs plenty of times, hence the antitrust lawsuit.

They're not, but I'd prefer tencent have no stake in it at all.

0% congratulations consumers you won! oh wait no it's all bullshit.

They're on xbox and playstation though. You saars need a better script.

NTA. Same applies to pretty much all Epic exclusives, tho.

You don't need a reason, look at those faggots at Nintendo.

This only benefits corporations. Lmao at him trying to sell it as consumer rights to dupe idiots

If it allows for sideloading on iOS, it's great for consumers.
