If you want my take, outside of the obvious eldar girl appeal, I found her character as an eldar that could not feel at home with her people to be interesting. She hadn't felt Crudarach was home long before she left, and she fucking hates the Farseers for it. Her behavior on Janus pretty much sold me. Most of her scenes are also pretty good, and her VA did a good job. The only exception is Quetza but unfortunately that means her entire progression and development is ruined because Quetza was where her character really should have evolved massively. Quetza in general was a low point and one of the reasons Act IV's so shit. They handled that part and Yrliet terribly there and then the game's over so nothing to salvage.

Factually correct, Owlcat can only write one type of game, they never cover the rise to power part that makes fantasy stories so enjoyable, you are just placed into power virtually instantly out the gate, and you start from there. Easily the worst character in the game as far as the companions go, and it's not even close. The game would be legitimately better off if she didn't exist at all. The only saving grace her character really has is that she can be killed off early so you aren't forced to suffer through her garbage content more than once.

Not true. The beta had conflicting information concerning how her betrayal went down and how it could be prevented, it also presented her motivation different but didn't change it.

She's a well written exploration of exactly what it means to be an eldar outcast, to not feel at home in a society that values home above all given the status of their species, and the principle core of her survivor's guilt and trying to make up for what she perceives was a failing (not being at Crudarach when it got wiped) is well developed at least up to act IV. She's a haughty cunt but that's exactly what you'd expect of an eldar, especially one that has absolutely no sense of how to play diplomat given her outcast status, and her betrayal is actually a well executed fucking moment because it's properly built up to and demonstrated how desperate she had actually become. After that her scenes in Commorragh (if she's sparred) do a great job of showing someone's that's hit rock bottom and is forced to confront the fact her biases (humans are lessers) is factually incorrect at least in a general sense because she's given a second chance by the person she directly betrayed and caused a whole world of shit for. Her interactions with the Farseer that the deldar had imprisoned is also a well written scene, the entire lab and finding the remains of her people is really, as she's forced to confront the core of her issue (the survivor's guilt) and either move towards getting her people rebuilt or accepting their prideful flaws and moving away from them entirely.
The biggest issue happens in Quetza where rather than staying consistent with this, she backslides in certain interactions and overall the conclusion is pretty meh without the romance.

They're better because they're a super ancient civilization of ridiculously long lived people that can spend decades upon decades improving themselves in any given field, and in fact they do precisely that to avoid their strong emotions since the way they feel those emotions is why they're so warp attuned.
The issue with the romance was reciprocity. If the point is a human and an eldar meeting halfway, the RT does literally all the concessions. It's unbalanced. At the core of it, that's the problem.
