Also people have been buying up the standalone $80 Mario Kart World in droves too, so that's not so much of a problem (at least for "early adopters" meaning the Nintendo faithfuls). The issue is how boring the Switch 2 is for a Nintendo console. Nintendo could have called this the Switch Pro and it would still make sense for it. There's no real stand out thing for this other than "it's stronger than the first Switch and it has its own Mario Kart with it".

What version of DLSS does the Switch 2 use? All the footage of cyberpunk I've seen point to the old one, horrible asphalt and background detail, awful blur and ghosting and really low res cloud/sky/smog textures. DLSS 4 improved on a lot of these but damn this shit looks rough...

Covid did have a positive impact on consoles sales across the board with Switch (as well as Animal Crossing, Ring Fit Adventure, and obviously Mario Kart) being huge beneficiaries, yes. However, even after things cooled back down the Switch's numbers never came to a grinding halt or even became a problem. Even now it's still selling well relative to how long its been out and it has never experienced a price drop.

I don't think Switch 2 is going to be as successful as the Switch 1 and I think it'll be a bit more than what the Wii got in total, but the Switch 1 was a success before and after covid. Covid just gave the whole industry a temporary boost.
