I have just uninstalled the bloated nshitia app, but I was decent to record my gameplay.
Now what is the best software to record while I play?

i think obs with the same thingy that nvidia uses so its efficient
use obs. it isnt "just werkz" level of easy. you will need to look up how to use it correctly on jewtube. its free and simple, after you learn it.
OBS.
Keep the resolution, bitrate and framerate a bit lower than your native, and you'll save a fuckton of storage space.
Nvidia app uses shadowplay, their own proprietary thing that runs off the GPU alone
shadowplay
its some tranny shit that uses ffmpeg under the hood with a "le epic green launcher overlay" frontend
obs will be even more reliable because jensen's shitty program has a tendency to not hook into processes so it wont record shit. obs never fails.
Windows 11 and Steam have it now, no need for tranny software
record my gameplay
You will never be a streamer
Nobody cares about your dumb webms either
its some tranny shit that uses ffmpeg under the hood with a "le epic green launcher overlay" frontend
You're managed to post something even dumber than the OP
Congratulations
he doesnt know
nvidia generally dont make their own things. they find OSS and expand on it or copy-paste it into their drivers or software. e.g. developer.nvidia.com
And how do you take the raw ffmpeg codec and use that to record gameplay live utilizing only your GPU?
OBS. You have to tinker with it a bit to get proper settings, but it's the best screen/game recording program for the price (free)
Nothing on that page says nvidia is just using ffmpeg for shadowplay. You're a moron
I'm pretty sure you can use nvenc in obs too
correct
I care
it just works. even sharex allow u to use nvenc through ffmpeg but u wont get fullscreen support so u use obs for games.
yes. thats why the tranny green jensen bloat overlay software is useless. its actually more demanding than obs with nvenc
why would they. u would only say that if u wanted to devalue ur own company. retard. even rtx voice works through ffmpeg. all the tranny jensen did was build a bloated software to act cool and smug because gamers.
Just be careful you don’t accidentally update OBS or it wrecks your settings and good luck trying to retrace your steps after setting up the actually cool “save the last 5 minutes” process that Shadowplay/consoles do
OBS replay buffer has to be enabled manually everytime you launch it. I do not want to dick around trying to automate this process. Nvidia just works, and it tells you it is active everytime you launch something. Steam and gamebar are kinda shit.
obsproject.com
Currently supported condition types are:
Replay Buffer
they are just lying to everybody for no reason because they are ok!
I do hope you are just pretending to be retarded
anon can't be arsed to take 5 seconds google searching how to make replay buffer start every time you run the program
zoom
TIL lying=not disclosing smth
retard illiterate donkey
you don't even need to do that, you just add an argument to the shortcut of the program
What's a good OBS guide for recording? I can't tell who is right. Like this one will say turn everything off and tune for fastest with CQP since it doesn't matter but that contradicts some guides.
xaymar.com
Problem is I don't trust random ass youtubers and a lot of guides seem like copy past bullshit "best settings for 2025" etc. Then checking the ones at the OBS forum are out of date with settings that don't even exist anymore.
constant quality, 22-33, nvenc. nothing else matters.
ESL faggot

I recently had the same conundrum but shit like
OBS. You have to tinker with it a bit to get proper settings
just made me decide to deal with the nvidia app.
It literally just works. No need to have to look up specific videos for my specific config, no need to tinker or worry about encoders or any of that. Just press a button and it records what I want.
That's all I fucking want.
This was over a year ago I tried setting this up and got conflicting information about it from google so I just said fuck it. I will look back into it.
Best way is just experimenting with settings until you find something that works for your CPU/GPU.
If you go to Docks -> Stats it will pop up a window showing how many frames are dropped, this will let you know if you're taxing the CPU/GPU too much. Tweak the bit rate and preset to your liking (higher bit rate = higher quality, but it has diminishing returns and remember that youtube/twitch cap out around 8000 kbps) and make sure you're not dropping frames. That's about it.
It takes maybe 5-10 min tops to set up OBS if you follow a simple youtube guide. OBS vs nvidia/shadowplay is like building your own PC vs buying a prebuilt. Both will work but one is way more customizable than the other.
if u leave obs enabled 24/7 (launch on startup) its gonna waste a ton of resources. ram usage will skyrocket when typically it sits around 200mb without buffer active.
I mean that's basically what I ended up doing but it's kinda crazy to me there's no universally accepted best setting considering all the autism around encoding. Like I can find plenty of charts around VMAF scores comparing HEVC, H264, AV1 but nothing done on the actual settings with them.
so still worse than shadowplay
That just tells you what the defaults are in simple mode
OBS vs nvidia/shadowplay is like building your own PC vs buying a prebuilt. Both will work but one is way more customizable than the other.
Customization is fine and all and every once in a while I'll go the extra mile to get it, especially when it's truly worth it like when building a pc.
But I don't want to have to tinker and set up something all the fucking time, sometimes I just want something that works and don't mind losing some customization in the process.
It takes maybe 5-10 min tops to set up OBS
You fags always downplay this shit.
I bet OP still hasn't been able to set OBS on his PC.
What else do you need besides bitrate, resolution and framerate?
which is a good guide for recording and then he can just do what said and maybe not follow his example because 15k constant bitrate is a waste
I don't trust my own eyes. I want someone to do VMAF tests that I'm too lazy to do. Anyway the settings I have are fine but I want the best quality size ratio.
Also the people saying this is too hard to set up must be brain dead. Just because the options are there doesn't mean you can't get OBS set up in less than 5 mins.
no idea what VMAF is and after googling it just looks like some jewish snake oil shit
Yes, fraud and taking the tech illiterate for a ride is the norm for Nvidia.
let me guess, you need more
no one cares about your gameplay you autist
I only use nvidia for the instant replay because its like my pc is a big switch and j can capture stuff i just saw
i just use a standalone aver media portable gamer 2. it records 1080p straight to microsd so theres no bog downs + use on console or anything with hdmi. it records efficiently, portable too. so efficient i record 100% of footage. takes like 3, 8 hour sessions before i gotta dump the memory. this thing is 5 years old
u would only say that if u wanted to devalue ur own company
You're wrong, any software utilizing ffmpeg under the hood must follow the ffmpeg EULA and part of it is in openly disclosing its use for which Nvidia does not indicate is involved in any way with their Shadowplay garbage. For better or for worse, Shadowplay is Nvidias own hot garbage.
Now for the Nvidia tards ITT, you don't need to use Shadow Play to leverage dedicated GPU based capture and encode because OBS and most other modern capture software absolutely do this with no additional hit to performance based on the capture itself. Any additional hit to performance comes from the added capabilities of OBS such as complex scene, audio, and video management functions.
