There is nothing to do in the world because you collect the same kinds of items in every game, now they are just slightly more spread out.

Black Desert did autopathing right because the world is actually big, there is no fast travelling and it's meaningful for events and trading to move around and planning routes, and the game even lets you go faster if you take manual control.

I was hoping for Wilds on Switch 2 but after seeing how much they neutered it and leaned into MHW aesthetic I'm hoping we get the 'portable' game again.

Yep, this was the last chance I was giving Capcom after Rise was an improvement from World, but with this massive step back I'm officially done.

One thing I don't get about nu-hunters is that there's a hunters notebook in game now that shows monster weaknesses yet people still bring dragon weapons to metal Rath hunts. Why?

Why do we have almost hourly threads of people bitching about Monster Hunter Wilds? I never played it, but I understand that it's shit. What I don't understand is why keep crying about it months after its release? You stopped playing, maybe even got a refund/sold your copy, so just move on.

Anyone who makes these threads have several hundreds of playtime hours on Wilds and likely still play it.

Rise's problem is less on the art side of things and more on the fact that it uses World's base mechanics/changes, Wilds is even worse in that regard because it adds its own layer of retardation on top of World

dromes add nothing to the game except padding out content. If removing every single drome meant they gained enough dev time/resources for just 1 good monster it would be worth it

The problem is that the defensive tools are too good in this game. Just look at gs with both perfect guard (which has a ridiculously long window) and also a parry (which has an even longer window). There's a reason why all of the hardest monsters so far like Gore, Zoh Shia, and Arch Tempered Rey Dau have delayed explosions which fucks with those mechanics.

Wounds mechanic completely break the game, it's worse than clutch claw

old MH formula was always flawed. I think World was a good evolution conceptually.
The problem is like you say that world created a new direction for the series not a new basis. It's like we are sitting in a train and missed our stop so we keep on riding.

Like chugging potions is better than flexing, but there should be a penalty to moving around and max potions made this kinda irrelevant.
Omnidirectional rolling feels more responsive but it makes positioning less relevant (even less now with Wilds letting you cancel almost anything and focus attacks)
Gathering was slow and annoying, but it made you learn gathering spots and appreciate every Malachite ore you picked up instead of just mashing buttons while on the way to the monster.

monsters in post 5th gen would be insanely op if you had to fight them with 2nd gen hunter

They deal like 1/3rd of the damage they do in other mg games.
