It's not survival crafting, no. It's just crafting. There's a story and a bunch of other NPCs so you can't really keep to yourself. There is an open world portion but I haven't checked it out yet.

Same with every other class, they can get an Expert unlock that allows them to charge their Heavy attack. Uses a ton more SP than their charged normal attack, but the Charged Heavy 'Attack' Attack deals a lot more damage and knocks back but doesn't pierce, while the Charged Heavy 'Healing' Attack becomes a party-wide heal. Charged Heavy 'Defence' Attack apparently raises both Physical and Magical Defence of your entire party but I pretty much never use that one so I'm not entirely sure.

How do I build stuff on my island? I maxed out the starting village's guild board and should have a bunch of recipes unlocked by one 1 bridge and 2-3 stairs show up.
I feel like the combination of 2 crafters and 1 combat buddies are the best for gathering, 2 crafters are usually enough so you are never run out of SP and 1 combat buddy is for debuffing the resources to speed up the process
If you actually read the tutorial on building stuff on your island, bridges and stairs require you to buy a Building Kit for it from Cooke in your island's Guild House
"Good" is not on the same scale as Ordinary/Fine/Notable. You're better off crafting the Ordinary recipe and hope your skill is high enough to upgrade the quality to good
Presumably in an effort to be "inclusive", the game has ZERO feminine clothes options for the player (besides one specific robe you get in the deluxe edition of the game), just gender-neutral ones which look far more masculine than not (alongside not letting you pick your gender in the character creator, just a choice of what undergarments you want), which is severely disappointing to me. Previous games had different clothes for male and female characters, so why not this game too? They could've easily included them and let you pick which ones you want to wear regardless of gender but that's not "inclusive" enough I guess. The game apparently *does* have female versions of many job outfits in the game, but they got removed as an option for the player at some point, because again, having ONLY masculine/gender-neutral clothing is considered "inclusive".
I'm sick and tired of development studios pulling bullsh*t like this. My review is staying negative until feminine clothes get added back to the game and the bundled malware gets removed.

I think the Mage's R ability is dumb. There's only three "styles" and the only thing a style does is change your charged attack. The attack spell should remain the charge attack, and then the Defense and Heal spell should be R+Light/Heavy. The ability to cycle between styles is so pointless when there's already enough buttons for all three.

This is also dumb because it barely lasts longer than the animation itself. But yes, I meant the stance swapping. I really wish I knew what "adds new effects to each magic mode" means, because as far as I can tell it just upgrades the charge attacks.
Instead of swapping to Defend and Heal styles then using Charged Attack to cast them, I'd rather just hold R (like when swapping styles) and then simply press a button to use the spell immediately. This would allow for the heavy versions to be done by charging THIS input, i.e. R+Light for Arcane Heal, charge R+Light for Healing Forest. Leave the Attack spells on the regular charged attacks, since they're attacks.

you don't need to take them with you and have them matching when crafting at a bench, you can pick 2 from there independent of who you bring with you
