Am I just too retarded for Kojima's writing or does this shit make 0 sense?

Am I just too retarded for Kojima's writing or does this shit make 0 sense?

nuclear deterrence is flawed because it's dependant on humans being willing to intentinally cause a nuclear holocaust when they're being targeted

to fix this we built an unfeeling robot that always retaliates when nukes are fired against the US

but also this robot is powered by an AI that's modelled after the human brain so it can make decisions like a human

?????????????????????

s-l1200 (2).jpg - 562x650, 57.58K

You should've realized something was up when the guy in charge was named Hot Coldman and he was comically evil and insane.

it's an AI to determine if it's a false positive, a legitimate threat, just a test etc.

They picked their best soldier's brain to map to it, turns out that soldier doesn't wanna nuke anything.

Wasn't it modeled after the boss, not just any human, because they thought it would go through with anything to get the mission done. Not knowing the boss is a softie of course and would rather sink itself

You are retarded but also Peace Walker isn't a good story. I still like it tho. Say Peace.

Yes, you are autistic and are thinking that the opposing views of characters and their own misconceptions of others are all the simultaneous beliefs of the writer.

Am I just too retarded

yes

nuclear bad

nuclear go boom

caveman afraid push retaliate button

me create AI rock

AI rock go boom if caveman push button

all caveman now afraid push button

There you go

Am I just too retarded

Yes. Won't even bother reading the rest of your post.

ok but why program the AI to think like a caveman?

Unrelated but it's funny how other retards don't realise PW is when BB became the bad guy

it's an AI with quasi human intelligence but without the feelings
modeled after the greatest soldier ever to have lived: the Boss
but human essence is too strong, so, in the end, it chose Peace
that's what the Boss truly wanted, basically

Big Boss becomes a bad guy in the same game where everyone compares him to Che Guevara

What did Kojima mean by this?

Which was the part? You just mean the ending speech? Or do you see more of the descent into villainy elsewhere in the story? It's been a looong time since I played.

I mean I don't think Kojima realized it either.

builds a nuclear-capable metal gear ready for retaliation against anyone that threatens him

kidnaps enemy soldiers to turn to his side

uproots Russian and American interests for his own goals, even if it ends up saving the world, and will indiscriminately kill both sides on the way to achieving that

It just so happens that it was so fucking terribly written as his "jumping off the morality bridge" point that he becomes a pirate voiced anti-hero with some deep rooted trauma dealing with idiots and crazies, than the villain he was supposed to be.

good guys (yellow) and bad guys (red) are literally color coded through the game

and the game's save-file turn red after the true ending speech

people are just retarded, eh?

There should have been an XCOM-like for Metal Gear.

I mean, in comparison to MG2? Hardly. Hes a warmonger and an antihero, but he still saves the day in peace walker. In MG2 he literally says he only feels alive on the battlefield, and that war is better than sex, drugs, or money.
Kojima fucked up by making Big Boss sympathetic when he's originally comically evil and wrong. All the prequels are really stupid games and harsly shoe big boss becoming a villain. The absolute worst thing he does is recruit chico, and thats not even that bad.

The only mgs games worth playing are 1,2 and 3.

He could pull that BB was just tired and wanted Snake to end it all - he was just provoking a green snake.
The Boss did lay down her gun for peace.

When they decide building their own Metal Gear is a good idea

Yeah it also kinda connects to snake's "im a gun" thing in peace walker when he throws away his bandana. Peace Walker is good at establishing that he only lives for battle, but I really wish we got an actual big boss warcrime simulator in MGSV.
You never actually get to see Big Boss do the canonically evil things he did like start civil wars and abduct children to turn them into soldiers, and its a bit of a shame. Hes morally grey if not outright heroic in portable ops, peace walker, and MGSV. Morally in the wrong for making a military nation state organization, but really all he ever does is take on "good guy" missions in all the prequels. Every single game had you beat an actual villain and save the day, and it really should've been big boss himself being the villain.

The Metal Gear series has a glaring problem which is that Kojima clearly does not care about the first two games at all.
Metal Gear Solid immediately retcons MG2 and makes Big Boss Snake's father, something Big Boss apparently told him even though it doesn't happen in either MG1 or MG2.
The games constantly point to Shadow Moses as the place where it all started too, MG1 and MG2 are just treated as nebulous set dressing for MGS1, which is the real jumping off point for the rest of the series.

Peace Walker is an anti-american game. Big Boss turns war into capitalism and establishes a monopoly on military force by simply outperforming and literally headhunting the competition to corporately merge.
He becomes a villain offscreen when he subverts this and changes the focus from money legally gained through the global systems in place enabling his business, to no longer doing war for business and simplg fighting because he enjoys it.

Kojima is a bit of an intellectual fuckwit and has a lot of "le both communism and capitalism le bad!!!" In metal gear and this is another example of it. Big Boss pushes capitalism to its logical conclusions, showing how it profiteers off war, then fucks off to make soldier communist "heaven", but descending into full on villainy doing so. Kojima is just using big boss to say east and west le bad.

It also had the same "don't believe all the legends you hear" message that 4 had so I'd say some of it is on purpose

Probably because MGS1 is basically a soft-remake of MG2 in the first place. It's obvious that Solid 1 was the place the franchise really hit its stride, it reuses so many tidbits, elements and sequences wholesale, including puzzles and plot points as well as a couple boss retreads to boot, Meryl being a stand-in for Holly, the list goes on. Barely anyone ever played the MSX titles or the fucked up NES divergence outside of Japan before MGS3 Subsistence, and MGS1 basically covered all the bases the rest of the 3D entries could work from.

As for retcons, yeah, that just sorta happens in every game so it's taken for granted, but Solid 1's the most jarring since this "revelation" entirely persists on 8 years for JP players to forget and a grand total of "never heard it before or even know what game this is referencing" for the US audiences to simply go with the flow.

kojima is a hack

Hot Coldman's entire premise is revealed to be bullshit. He insists that neither side would actually act if the other fired the first shot, attempts to prove that, and nearly destroys the world until his intentional false positive is stopped.

They needed to model Peace Walker's AI on the peak of human intelligence and comprehension of warfare so it could perfectly discern a real attack from a false alarm, so it could retaliate without issue, unlike a human. They selected The Boss as its model in the effort to achieve that end. It destroys itself in recognition that Coldman's ideas are faulty in order to protect the world.

God, one of the worst parts of the series is the incessant metal gear 1 memberberries circlejerk. 4 and MGSV do it the worst (le remember rex? He stands up now XD its not over yet dnake omg psycho mantis omg liquid), but even 2 and 3 are guilty of it.

Kojima made a single game that actually perfected the formula, and then spent the next 20 years making artistic derivatives of it. For all his bitching and moaning about being forced to come back to the series over and over, he was really the only one who let it stagnate.

I think the fans bitching about mgs2 at release got to him too much so he spent the rest of his career trying to capture the lightning in a bottle that was Metal Gear Solid

he becomes a pirate voiced anti-hero with some deep rooted trauma dealing with idiots and crazies

This is exactly what makes his appearance in PW my favorite in the series.

This game's enduring legacy is being the primary inspiration for Paul W.S. Anderson's adaptation of Monster Hunter.

I love his aesthetic but goddamn does hayter do a bad voice in peace walker. I wish they got richard doyle instead. The look fits a mature big boss's voice. Hayter just sounds like a chainsmoker or tranny marge simpson.

Such a cool aesthetic but a lot better with the japanese voices.

Why did they make so much Big Boss shit? I remember even back then people were clamoring for a return to Solid Snake games.

Honestly I wish there was a consistent way to get JP voices for the series. I don't think there's undubs for the earlier games, and the Master Collection doesn't allow for that if I remember right?

Kojima's just an autistic stonecutter that's romanticizing retarded wars and revolutions even commies, spies and self-hating soldiers and demonizes any sense of true patriotism so he can get promoted in his gay little club with hollywood prostitutes.

I think ultimately what ends up making it work is really the fact that those games are barely relevant to the story of the Solid series overall.
By the time you get a real pay off to Snake having killed Big Boss at the end of 4 you've already had the entire third game and hours of exposition about him in the fourth to get you up to speed on what's relevant, by that point anything you could gleam from MG1 or 2 is tenuously relevant at best or outright expunged from the canon at worst.

It's also based "accurately" off of The Boss, because her biggest stalker totally knows her perfectly including her inner mind and emotions, and is played completely straight, like she's an actual robot replica of her. Never mind that strangelove could never fully comprehend the boss because there's so much of a person that happens in their own head, a lot which they'd never share or be fully understood without the original persons personality and perspective, but somehow she's a perfect replica, all so kojima can traumatize big boss, again. Peacewalker has cool mechanics like the base building, but the plot is retarded.

None of the games have options to play them in japanese, except for gz and v on pc and now delta

Yeah he kinda does at the very end, rejects the Boss's philosophy and accepts the title of Big Boss, but he didn't turn super BAD, like grooming child to turn them into bullet fodder for his own cause BAD, that's what ppl were expecting for TPP but it didn't do jack shit
I guess the only cannon explanation we have is that like how he charmed Chico in PW, Big Boss is just a stupid air-head and unintentionally grooms kids with his charisma, while he gives 0 fucks whether they turn themselves into a soldier or not
It would've been nice to at least explain how he felt about it though, there's no way he has 0 opinions about child soldiers while being a huge child soldier factory

nuclear deterrence is flawed because it's dependant on humans being willing to intentinally cause a nuclear holocaust when they're being targeted

Shouldn't that be the other way around where Nuclear Deterrence only works when no one wants to be the person responsible for ending the world?
Case in point, the Cuban Missile Crisis only got deescalated because you had cooler heads in the Kennedy administration take charge and do stuff like only respond to Khrushchev's less belligerent letter to deescalate the situation so the world didn't end and everyone relatively saved face.
Otherwise, if the Neo-cons got their way (Yes, the neo-cons existed even in the 1960s, only they were war mongering against the communists and not Islamic fundamentalists.) they would have invaded Cuba and escalated things to a nuclear exchange and ended the world because like all cons, they don't care about the consequences of their immediate actions long term.
But as was mentioned before, Peacewalke was ordered the launch nukes and it still killed itself.
Although would it have done that if the data wasn't fake and it was a real attack is the better question.

What are the odds that Kojima has patched things up with Konami and Physint is a real Metal Gear project?
I personally can't see him returning to the genre unless it was without any red tape holding him back from what he can and can't call back to.

peace walker's story is fucking garbage and ruined MGS

You never actually get to see Big Boss do the canonically evil things he did like start civil wars and abduct children to turn them into soldiers, and its a bit of a shame.

Saying "It was mostly Patriot AI propaganda" is an ok excuse for that, I guess. They killed even Solidus, afterall.

Anyone else ever jerk it to Love Deterrence?

I think the evil bald head guy's point is that situation like Stanislav Petrov incident proves that nuclear deterrence is a flawed system, we luckily avoided the shitshow just because the guy decided to see false alarm as false alarm, but we only avoided the situation just because of pure LUCK and his unwillingness to take responsibility.
What if the guy was retarded and saw real alarm as false alarm, or false alarm as real alarm? It's nice that the cold war didn't happen thanks to both sides not wanting nuclear holocaust, and instead chose the obvious solution of deescalating the situation, but they are not the ones pushing the real buttons, they can only push button to send order to push the button.
The ones pushing the real buttons are some grunt working in nuclear silo, and they shouldn't have the right to choose. Although that worst case scenario literally happened, and we avoided a huge problem by chance thanks to him being competent and not retarded.
It's safer to make sure the ones pushing the real button competent by making that "competent guy" into a system, thus competent, smart, and "patriotic" operative like the Boss into AI. What they didn't realize was that the Boss wasn't patriotic, she was just a suicidal hippie.

Narretively it doesn't work though as the whole point of MGS is that Zero and Big Boss are both equally right and both equally wrong

love how pw feels but hate how you have to s rank things to unlock more things

No, you're right -- he's a hack. MGS3 was one of infinity monkeys rewriting Shakespeare. Everything else is gibberish.

mfw what i needed to do to get the bandana

mfw the fucking thing took its sweet time to finally be available

gonna hand it to tpp, at least you can fuck around the map and your shit can still be developed, whereas in pw you have to fucking clear a shit ton of missions and pray that no one fucking suffered an accident or the item's dev is halted

peace walker was unplayable shit

Oh man now c'mon I'm just dating that Portable Ops should get remade along with Peace Walker that's all it deserves better than to be dismissed just because Kojima didn't direct it

What’s taking Konami so long with Vol 2? Is it MGS4?
I wanna snake in/snake out with Anon Babbleiggers, PW is so lonely alone

Big Boss literally stole his most trusted soldiers identity and forced him to lose everything he ever cared about, and essentially gave him a death sentence just so Big Boss could buy maybe a year's worth of time building Zanzibar land.

That proved that PW Snake was capable of evil things already

It was especially stupid because Short Tallman was wrong and the US would have launched in response to his fake attack if Big Boss hadn't talked them down

Big Boss literally stole

That plan was Zero's and Ocelot and Kaz were the ones that went with it. BiBo was in a coma.

You probably don't want to grind and do everything again if you replay the game but when I did I never wanted to fire my female soldiers and instead just sent them to the waiting room. It was useful for when someone got sent to the Recovery area (whatever it's called) so I could put in a girl and the R&D or Intel Team or whatever wouldn't drop that much

you forgot revengance

Contrarily to popular belief of Anon Babble thinking Kojumbo as some kind of Che worshiping retard, he is actually self-aware enough to criticize him for being a propaganda tool to infatuate gullible retards or kids like Chico to pick up guns for someone else's cause (the ironic thing is Big Boss is trying to prevent that)

Nice bait.

Can't be bait if it's true.

Fuck it, MPO is canon. 100%.

Zero gets in a coma before PP and the Patriot AI becomes the main villain after MG2 (and BiBo gets into a coma again).
Every game after that it's just us, the players, and the character we control being their pawn, fighting the "sons" of Big Boss trying to stop them.

Peace Walker is maybe Kojima's fullest retard moment in the series but I still enjoy it.

it's not just you. I always found kojimas writing extremely pretentious and non-sensical. His real talent is game design (which is pretty ironic considering how badly he wants to make movies)

Kojima is a pretentious hack. It's your fault for playing his games to begin with.

Reminder that Paz did nothing wrong.
