Enough of this foolishness.
State the truth. WHAT DOES HONGYUAN NEED?
I opened this thread to post Limbus but the first post was already Limbus. What do I post now?
I don't want to rape
Post the pasta
Tale of Immortal 2 when?
Sifu is good but it filtered me.
Where exactly? You can cheese the entire thing up until the final boss. Even then you can still slam your head against it without fully understanding it eventually.
literal final confrontation of Part 2 is "Confucianism vs Legalism vs Buddhism"
I clapped, and not just because of the birdrape
After one gorillion hours in MS paint
xianxia thread
the bird rape was the best part though, absolutely hammering the brutality of the setting on every level (again)
bird rape
Weird how often this shit happens.
His game soon.

overly ambitious UE5 slop
KEK
Arc 1 the game
Yeah that's actually good. The story went to shit after that arc so this is a good place to adapt into a game
I liked the pirate assassin adventure arc, would make a great game.
Read Cradle by Will Wight.
His game when?
This is literally just Battle Frenzy.
Memes
But we already have Victorian era game though
Forsaken land of gods, World War and Adam showing up helping Klein to meet the requirements for his ascension was peak.
look at all this pointless space you get to fly over and ignore because the only thing to do in this game is dailies
Did the movie get released yet?
Author directly adds chinese alchemy in this setting
I clapped, honestly. It makes sense since there's a been a ton of wuxia elements already, but I guess this fully cements it.
people keep telling me this is actually japanese and not chinese like i thought
It's daoism, not Buddhism. other than that your observation is spot on
Death.
Boomers need to go.
*walks into thread with harem of jadelike fairy maidens*
The people in this place seem rather amusing. *smiles complacently* I'll stay and observe them for a while. Perhaps I'll glean some insights from their simple ways.
*doesn't give you any face and just sits down despite being a major realm lower in cultivation*
Zero gameplay
C'mon man
I do wonder if you could fit the setting into a turn-based game. Instead of leveling via combat or EXP in normals however, you level with plot progression (maybe with some level of choice, like if you fucked up a lot you'd get the next potion later rather than sooner. And if you were smart you'd be able to side-step a lot of busy works get a upgrade early)
Probably way too complicated for chinks though, I expect slop
Any good sandboxy rpgs from the pingpongs?
I really liked matchless kungfu and sands of salzaar.
Taiwanese puppeteers and Japanese writer (Madoka guy).
Tale of Immortal is the best one.
Junior do you dare walk in this thread without giving me face? Seems like I'll have to deal with you now. These maidens belong to me now!
Expedition 33 gameplay is perfect for LOTM
How'd high level Sequences fight though?
Looks intresting, weird that it can't launch without deleting stuff but whatever.
I'll try it.
To be fair high level sequences should be avoided since they're all bullshit gods/demigods. The cutting point should be like tier 5, maybe 4 for a final boss or something.
Install these mods for a smoother game with less grind and padding.

You have eyes but can't see Mt Tai. You are like a frog in a well. A frog lusting after swan flesh.
If you cowtow 100 times, crawl through my legs, and call me father, I'll forgive you. Otherwise, don't blame me for being impolite!
Nice, thanks.
Arrogant brat! You have one last chance to apologize, maybe I'll even leave your corpse intact!

Oi. In The Matchless Kung Fu, how do debates work?
How do you respond without sounding mad?
I love this motherfucker
Any notable releases recently? Enjoyed Hero's adventure, and already gave both matchless kungfu and ToI a go

It seems you've left me no choice then. I'll have to unleash the secret technique I learned as an inheritance from the ghost of an old grandpa living in the ancient ring I found when I dug a hole to take a dump one time.
Taste my secret technique, Divine Sacred Buddha's Scholarly Secret Dragon Saber Fist!
Although that all took a long time to describe, it happened in an instant.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hesitant but hey it's probably more normal sounding than the engrish of official translations so I'll give it a go. Just uh what the hell am I getting into and what even is the name of the game
*breaths in...
I see no one in this thread has mastered the Six-Palm Heavenly Triform except me. You're all weak, weak in the balls. I bet not a single one of you could pass the Judgement of the Nine Stone Sentinels Who Rest Upon the White Mountain In Fire Lily Temple. Pitiful, but I won't pity you! None of you have the inner heat necessary for my forgiveness. I, Black Palm Sixteen Ton Goose, proclaim you all dogs under heaven and no amount of tea could possibly make me forget the shameful sight of you!
Wish we got more Xianxia vidya.

His thread now.
The secondhand cringe from his *herman roleplay would kill me. It's like Ainz without the self awareness.
Marvel avengers was peak
Bitch you look like Lan Zhan, I bet you're a faggot like him too. Keep sucking dicks for Qi, cutsleeve.
The Gehrman roleplay was needed for him to digest the Faceless potion.
Nine Sols is the best chinese game in the last five years besides Wukong.
bait
This game is so fucking kino sometimes
It has problems, but fundamentally I will say its a fun game. I'd like to see a more cultivation version of it for a sequel rather than the wuxia low-level scaling.
Muslimbros...
After reading Reverend Insanity and getting to the Shang clan city arc I've come to the conclusion that My Longevity Simulation not only has better worldbuilding than RI but also better characters. At the very least the side characters are leaps and bounds above RI. Everyone in the RI world reads like a caricature of a chinese person with a few exceptions. Even Fang Yuan, at least for now, barely feels like an actual person rather than a vehicle for the author to show off his scheming.
Not that MLS didn't have it's own character problems, but even with the reason for the main character's motivations not being explicitly stated you could still feel his struggle, how much he wanted immortality, and that vagueness solidified when he found out about the true nature of the people living in his area. For now RI just feels like Fan Yuan schemes->There is a problem->It all conveniently works out->Almost everyone displays the absolute worst aspects of humanity. It's like the world isn't made to be realistic, but to let the author preach his views.
Maybe it gets better.
It's the other way around anon. The faceless potion works that way because the author wants to do a roleplay arc. It goes for the rest of the potions since it determines what klein does next and is the trapping for the arc's theme
My Longevity Simulation
I'm pretty sure I've read a Korean novel with literally the exact same premise.
A mere Golden Core dare threaten this Nascent Soul expert?
I for one hope they'll stick to low-level wuxia, when I get a chinese martial arts itch it's either this game now or tale of wuxia and honestly I've been playing the latter too much to actually enjoy it anymore
MLS
transmigration
game elements
time loop
The three horsemen of trash
Seniors, this one needs advice.
What do you name your characters when trying to avoid defaulting to Wimp Lo again?
I'd slap you in the face, but the lunar calendar says it's not an auspicious day for this grandpa to beat up a grandson
Alright wish me luck, hopefully wood and the water that feeds the wood was a good choice for roots
If you think transmigration is a sign of trash you literally just hate the genre.
Long Dong
For me it's the opposite, it feels like MLS's MC does random shit while saying that btw I still <3 immortality ever so often to remind the reader that yes, he's still pursuing immortality. I agree on the characters, but I feel like it's more MLS flexing it's advantage of groundhog day loops letting him flesh out the same sets of characters better.
As for the latter, the theme is just different. RI is pretty grimdark and everyone knows it. Meanwhile in MLS, the actual dark stuff is behind a few curtains, the age limit for normies is a lot more laxed compared RI even after the dao changed and there's even a longevity immortal enforcing mandated forgetfulness after a tragedy, so while everything's fucked the overall atmosphere is still tranquil.
99.99% of the time it adds literally nothing to the story. Just a sign of lazy writing
Long Aotian like a proper protagonist.
It also 99.99% of time doesn't detract from the story either so again if you don't like it you literally just hate the genre.
Cho-Sen Wan
shang clan city arc
This is still very early, at that point Fang Yuan is still dealing with m*rtals while being a 500 years old demonic rank 6 cultivator, there's nothing there that can realistically pose a threat to him and he is too cautious and smart to make trouble. The world is huge and he is still trapped in the tutorial right now. The only two relevant characters in that arc besides Fang Yuan are Bai Ning Bing and Shang Xin Ci and I'd say they get some cool characterization. The worldbuilding opens up a lot when he gets a certain Gu and when he leaves the Southern Continent. The big arc after this one has a lot of worldbuilding and the things Fang Yuan will do there have MASSIVE world-wide repercussions. It's a bit of a slog though, be warned but imo it ends with a huge bang.
I feel like you're just talking out of your ass rather than actually having any experience that would justify this opinion. I can somewhat understand game elements but there's zero reason to dislike time loops or transmigration and I can guarantee you've literally never read anything with those elements in that would make you dislike them for those reasons.
Long Dingdong
MLS
not sure what that is
transmigration
As a vehicle for character growth and change
game elements
no such thing
time loop
Those are really good though
Anyone read any good Xianxia stuff lately? I've been reading Throne of Primordial Blood and it's basically just a downright better version of Warlock of the Magus World(not that that's saying much admittedly, I have no idea why that garbage novel is so popular).
Sell me on ToPB, I like warlock's world building but the MC and the asspulls were too much for me
I really would like if the MLS MC motivations were stated better, since it would help to ground the "scouting" loops. But from him spending lifetimes looking for cultivators, to trying different plans of infiltrating and surpassing organizations I just feel like even if I can't fully see why he wants it so badly I can still see that he wants it. Fang Yuan on the other hand seems very joyless, as in he might as well be dead. I don't really see that he wants immortality, why he wants immortality or even what he has to live for once he gets that immortality. At least with MLS I got like an obsession driven by desperation and flashes of humanity from him.
And it being a Grimdark setting, I don't think it excuses everyone from the kids to the adults to the different clans acting like total assholes no matter what. It's telling that Bai Ning Bing choosing not to kill an old woman he thought found out that he was a cultivator makes him one of the more moral characters in the book. Fucking Bai Ning Bing.
I've shilled it before, but if you want a work where the mentor stays relevant and is a similar-tier genius to the MC, I'd suggest Star Gate. The author's other work Tribulation of Myriad Races is goated too, but more politics oriented if that makes any sense at all.
I hope it gets better, I love the actual cultivation system and I see so much potential in the world too.
This event only happens if you lose the fight and the guy spares your life.
I read this recently and I enjoyed the early parts quite a lot but holy shit I stopped caring really quickly once the higher power level stuff started happening. I wish it stuck with the early police officer level stuff a lot longer.
It's a mild spoiler but My Longevity Simulator is not time loop.
Kinda bigger spoiler. After MC becomes half-immortal then the book becomes very depressing because his enemies are literally trillion years old monsters with unfathomable abilities and they can counter his cheat to some extent. Considering that Immortal Realm was destroyed he can't progress further. His main enemy isn't even a human but some cosmological concept.
I have only played the Xianxia mod for CoC and I barely have any idea what the hell's going on but it seems kinda cool.
If that's what you dislike then you'd definitely prefer ToPB. MC'd basic gimmick is that he has amazing eyesight that allows him to see spiritual energy and other stuff like that and basically creates his own way of cultivating through research. He's a good middle ground between being cold, scheming and willing to do morally questionable things to reach his goals but also not a complete sociopath who doesn't care about anyone but himself. It's also got one of the most interesting cultivation systems I've seen and MC basically being a researcher pathfinding his own way without the help of bloodline is the highlight for me.
Both of those sound interesting. I'll give them a read. Thanks anon.
None of the cool story moments would translate well into any kind of gameplay.
How about i kick your arse to FORCE you to teach me your secrets.
The Gu world is basically filled with hyprocrites and mentally ill murderers, Fang Yuan just adapted very well to it. He's autistic about immortality but he finds joy from pursuing it so I wouldn't call him joyless.
I say this and I look like this
I am rereading RI after 4 years (currently at ch1500). I am convinced that this is the peak that the genre has to offer. Are there any other novel worth reading?
I can see why people like RI but I honestly don't. I dropped it after he left the starter village. Fang Yuan is just unironically too evil for me to route for. I usually don't mind evil protagonists cause they're usually contrasted by everyone he goes up against basically being even worse but RI loses me with how much innocents are caught in the crossfire. Him using an unconscious girl as a meat shield as she gets eaten alive, MC literally burning children alive to do some magic bullshit. It was just too much.
Hate cultivation genre? No, I really like it. It's a shame a lot of it is polluted by garbage like isekai
Litrpg is fine if everyone has a system and there are no fucking quests and the system doesn't talk back
Time loop can be okay if it's done well
Isekai is basically never explained, serves no purpose other than to use modern lingo and occasional comparisons to modern time and pop culture references. Its the worst out of the three
Bait or crippling autism.
Invisible Dragon
kek. he is going to do a lot worse things after that.
Lord of the Mysteries is amazing.
Shadow Slave is a fun and easy rid, pretty good.
Renegade Immortal is good.
Mortals might as well be bugs to the average cultivator, this is available to pretty much every xianxia unless the MC is a moralfag. RI is liked so much exactly because the MC is not a moralfag. If by being virtous you'd get stronger, Fang Yuan would be the most moral person in the world.
I accept your concession
Terrible advice. All western "cultivation" novels are dogshit and fuck up the tone entirely, and Cradle is one of the worst. It's dogshit and I genuinely don't understand the people who like it.
Also, to be at least somewhat more productive than just shitting on someone else's opinion, I'll toss out a weird thing I've noticed. Western cultivation novels get a lot really wrong, but one thing that they ALL do without exception is have insufferable female characters. The chinks aren't exactly doing S tier character writing, but they manage to avoid that pitfall pretty easily.
I found Cradle pretty fun because I liked the characters. What female characters did you find insufferable?
Mortals might as well be bugs to the average cultivator, this is available to pretty much every xianxia unless the MC is a moralfag.
Not really no. Most non moralfags MCs don't do the deplorable shit FY does. Having the MC be that amoral is like 5% of xianxia novels. Your average MC is the ruthless to his enemies kind to everyone else kind of guy. Or at most indifferent.
expected him to be some sort of edgelord that kills everyone because he can and muh vengeance
in fact, he's the nicest guy and epitome of "Chad" that cultivated himself though struggle
Damn, I respect that.
If you can't see the purpose in making the MC a modern human from our world you're retarded. Think about it for yourself for 2 seconds and maybe you'll figure it out.
Most western novels are saved by virtue of not being Beware Of Chicken. No matter what they do at least their entire identity doesn't come from hating the genre and pretending that the MC that doesn't care about cultivation and is protected by plot armor is the height of virtue. Calculating Cultivation is also pretty good, even if it gets repetitive at times.
Journey to the West.
our average MC is the ruthless to his enemies kind to everyone else kind of guy. Or at most indifferent.
That's only because the writers are pussies. Cultivators are creatures that would do anything for power, that's their main quality.
The problem with Cradle and most other western cultivation novels, to me atleast, is that they move way too fast. For example in Cradle I was excited for a certain arc but the story just keeps moving like a traditional book. I like the slow burn that the webnovel format allows
According to whom?
Most RI fags have read like 10 xianxia at most and it really shows.
I can't figure it out. I like it when I'm immersed into a book that takes me into another world, if hard to do that when every chapter there's some dumb reference to this world
I've literally read xianxia where it's a plotpoint where the MC is too cruel and so to progress his strength he needs to become more empathetic and kinder to people. This idea that every xianxia is just sociopath vs sociopath competing to be the bigger sociopath is just incredibly limited.
retard
likes to be immersed in another world and someone who isn't like himself
yet is incapable of putting himself in another person's shoes to understand why having a relatable MC is important
There's a strong irony there.
Autist.
I can give you my top 4, along with something I've recently found interesting. This is me selecting for what I consider to be objectively quality, for whatever that's worth, not just sloppa I find entertaining. Martial King's Retired Life (xuanhuan/wuxia, not xianxia), Immortal Devil Transformation (more xuanhuan), Aspiring to the Immortal Path, and recently, I am the Immortal for Eternal Life. I really want more like AIP (particularly in the first few hundred chapters) in particular, so if any of y'all have read any and have recs, please hit me with them.
Someone transmigrating isn't relatable, it's fucking retarded
I want to play a game called Shaolin Vs Wutang, a fighting game based on old kung fu movies that looks appealing to me, but it has no online play (indie game by 1 guy) so I have to wait for my brother to visit this summer
kek, I'll be honest, I immediately thought RI was Renegade Immortal and was about to take a massive shit on you, but then I realized you meant Reverend Insanity. Still disagree, but it's not nearly as bad as what I thought you said.
Because you aren't Chinese you fucking moron.
I like Renegade Immortal but it's definitely not Er Gen's best work which makes sense since it's one of his earlier works. ISSTH and AWE are both way better.
It's been years since I last read it, so my critiques of it won't be detailed enough to be intelligent desu. I definitely did not think the characters were appealing in Cradle. In general though, western novels tend to right 'empowered' females in a very aggravating way that chinese novels don't (unless they want you to hate that character).
Do the chinese transmigrate a lot?
Holy fuck you're retarded
actual retard
saved by virtue of not being Beware Of Chicken
Thank fuck there's another sane person on this planet. You have no idea how much I want to blow my brains out every time I see someone recommend that slop. It's the worst combination of western RR slop, japanese slow life isekai, and chinese xianxia. None of it is coherent at all and it triggers my 'tism in the worst possible way. In general, I find western parody type cultivation novels very condescending and usually a self-own, because the authors have never actually read many xianxia and all of the jokes they try to make mocking the tropes have already been done by the chinese already. Just ends up feeling stale and spiteful.
Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality is a great one. That plus I Shall Seal the Heavens are 2 of the best like "classic" xianxia I've read.
I like the slow burn that the webnovel format allows
I think it can go both ways. Sometimes you can really tell when an author is milking shit to the detriment of the story.
Duwang.
The Path Toward Heaven and The Way of Choises are great
I've read both and they're ok, but not my favorite. Record is a classic for a reason, but it also has plenty of weakpoints that you'd expect from that context. ISSTH is pretty good too, but it has the same deal, and desu, in terms of Er Gen novels, I prefer AWE. Regardless, neither come close to matching what I loved about the early chapters of AIP.
I can fucking hear it. Is the Sleeping Dogs port any good?
You can try ToPB if it interests you at all cause I'd genuinely consider it one of the best I've read but honest at this point it's been so long since I read any good xianxia that I have difficulty recommending any cause I just can't remember many these days.
Immortal executioner is one I remember being really good
I quite like A very cliche harem xianxia, very tightly written
Just bought Matchless Kung Fu and Tales of Immortal. My only interaction with xianxia media is a Corruption of Champions mod and Anon Babble shitposts. What am I in for?
I’ve read it, and it’s not as good as AIP sadly. Not in the first half anyhow. Same author though, funnily enough. I just think he was firing on more cylinders when writing AIP as compared to ToPB
Anyone else hyped for "World of Jade Dynasty"? I loved playing "Swords of Legends online" but after it died I couldn't find another good MMO in that settings." Perfect New world" being cancelled didn't help :/
Also I can't wait to play "Where winds meet"
Ave xia rem y is the only time I’ve encountered pure trash that actually improved as the novel went on, instead of getting worse. Wouldn’t quite call it good, but it was fascinating to watch happen.
I've found a lot more female MC books that I like on Royalroad than male MC books that I like. Maybe that has something to do with them more often being slice-of-life
I’ll be honest, Royal Road and sites like it made me entirely swear off female mcs online because of how badly written they are. It takes skill to portray the interior mind of the opposite sex, and that’s obviously lacking in most RR authors.
Renegade Immortal is dogshit. I didn't like lotm because of tarot club or SS because of Nephis and her cahoot. I fucking hate party-based stories. I do admit lotm is well-written (not SS though).
kys
I might actually read this one.
Post your favourite then.

Massive shit taste, didn't read the rest.
Not wuxia, not xianxia. It's an ironic pseudoparody as described in
Er Gen novel? Or chinese webnovels in general? If the former, it’s AWE. If the latter, I already did. I’m the anon who listed his four faves earlier. MKRL, AIP, IDT, and recently I am the Immortal for Eternal Life (but we’ll see how this one goes, I’m only 50 chapters in).
You should read A Practical Guide to Sorcery. Its very good despite it's awful name and synopsis
I don't remember making this post.
Anyone else hyped for "World of Jade Dynasty"?
Yes. I know the taiwan client has an English translation, but we don't have any news about the game coming to the West.
Also I can't wait to play "Where winds meet"
This is what I'm using to cope. If nothing happens, we are going to be able to play it this year
Martial arts thread, martial arts game :)
here's my tactics for each boss, i've no death'd the game before by the way
skipping fajar and sean because they're really easy
for kuroki, you have to keep your distance, i was filtered at this boss for a long time but ive come to realize she can only fuck you up if you rush at her, she's way faster than you
dash back, her slow attack's pattern is down-up-down-up and the other one is left-right-left-right-pause-up down (fast)
for second phase dodge her close attacks but when she dashes back to charge at you, charge up a heavy attack with by holding the heavy punch input and letting go when she's close. it will do massive stun damage for you to combo her, when she gets far away catch her blades in the air and throw em right back at her. just be patient because of all the bosses she has the fastest stun recovery, much higher than the final boss
young masters, is Amazing Cultivation Simulator good or is it unfinished Ssethslop?
Sorcerers Handbook, yes it is a harem but i like how rich it's characters are
It's the single best cultivation game out there.
Does sekiro count as a cultivation game? Think about it.
wow! Thats looks amazi- oh its a gacha game, nevermind
Unsheathed, it's absolute kino
This might be a hot take, but I consider harem to be a bonus. Nothing, and I really mean nothing, torches an interesting novel to ash like a single pure love romance. Harem can be annoying in its own ways, but all you have to put up with is a couple of chapters of gooning and the mc gets back to focusing on his grindset. An author writing their mc genuinely falling in love with one true waifu can distract the story for HUNDREDS of chapters. It’s maddening.
oh and you can use a weapon in the first phase to remove chip damage from her blades if your parries dont land well
for jinfeng make sure to have your weapon proficiency up from the checkpoint shrines, and the one where you can use weapons longer without breaking. she is actually very weak, she just attacks fast but when you actually get close to her she goes down very easy so dont be afraid. her sweep attack is extremely telegraphed and she makes it obvious with her stance, watch out for that especially since if she sweeps you she will follow up with a stunning attack to your head, remember that an attack after a dodge will always stun very shortly and open up your enemies for a combo
I guess it would be about kicking the shit out of those who cultivated way the fuck more than you
kys :)
sorry for shitting up the thread and this is my last post, promise. I realize it's hard to give much advice on text posts but i am doing my best.
for yang, the only attack that really works against him is
dodge > quick punch to stun > S+W+M1 to push away > M1 to follow up with the machine gun punches
remember that whenever he dodges your low attacks, he will follow up with the same attack to stomach which you can dodge very easily, the fight with yang is almost like a dance if anything, you need some real patience though
the second phase has some grab attacks that can take away majority of your health and a fast combo that can end with a sweep, watch out for that
and one last thing to consider for phase 1, if he attacks then dashes back, he will always follow up with a sweep, but if he attacks the same but instead of dashing back he moves to your side, he will do really fast punches. watch his behavior and stances
Immeasurable disappointment the likes of which not seen since your parents had you.
yes
He has no filial piety. Smh my head
It takes skill to portray the interior mind of the opposite sex
it really doesn't
It really does though? Believe it or not, most people, and also most amateur writers online, struggle immensely to get outside of their own perspectives in a meaningful way. All but the best male writers suck absolute ass at writing female POVs for extended periods of time, because they legitimately don’t understand how women think, at least not well enough to convincingly portray one. And yes, while there are plenty of female authors online, most RR litrpg trash is written by men. What a shocker. They usually do one of like three things: just write the female mc like a man (the most common), turn her into an absolute caricature of a girlboss (sometimes both one and two), or, in the case of fetish writing, turn her into a giga slut. They’re always terrible because the writers aren’t good enough to make it work on an acceptable level of quality. If they were, they wouldn’t be on RR
you gotta stop worshipping women buddy
it's unhealthy
hating female mc sloppa because of how badly written it is makes me a simp
Usually when I give my autistic analysis of female mcs in online webnovels, people call me a misognyist, so points for novelty, anon.
pretty much. western authors just don't get it.
The Japanese symbols displayed over a purchased skill literally mean "cultivated".
Is it a xuanhuan? Or closer to a true xianxia?
It's nice to see other westerners interested in Chinese culture, almost everyone else only cares about Japan
I'm studying Chinese myself and will go to Chongqing next year
but chink slops with "system" are considered cultivation novels.

meant for
I’m studying japanese and am overall more interested in japanese culture, but specifically in the realm of webnovels, particularly the mid/low tier sloppa categories, China mogs Japan hard. A lot of their philosophy is interesting too. Might be a little off topic, but I find it fascinating how similar the Tao Te Ching’s description of the ‘True Tao’ is to Roman Catholic theology regarding the Infinite God.
I miss swords of legends online.
Had a qt spear girl then made a sword loli.
Raids were really fun and I spent a lot of time doing pvp. Crazy how good the game's rhythm mini-game was and how many other random systems were in that game. It was kino.
Can you conquer the world with martial arts?
Just wish it had more chapters
I often see "The Legend of Sword and Fairy" on the Playstation Store and the game looks pretty.
Could you help your grandfather here and say if this game is fun?

Wasn't that a harem? Anyway despite enjoying it at the start I lost all interest when I learned the auther was intentionally holding back on writing new shit for the shitty manhua to catch up
holding back
I thought it was dropped.
I'm reading chapter 250 atm and it's not an harem in any way. Yes, the MC get's some attention from nearly all get girls, but he is focused in only one. Red girl is like the second one one, but love is one sided, at least for now.
Most unrealistic part of CCG was that we were supposed to believe Song Shuhang had never so much as choked the chicken by the time he was 18 years old
There are still Daoists following the legendary Once a Month Path?! I thought it was merely a myth!

sorry
It's not ironic, it's written by someone who likes martial arts stories and it lets you embrace it. It doesn't have the traditional xianxia realms and whatnot but I'd recommend it to any fan of martial arts stories.
Best thread of Anon Babble right now.
it's written by someone who likes martial arts stories
The guy doesn't even know the difference between Japan and China.
Xianxia threads are always kino. Just wish we had more games to talk about. I hope with China's booming vidya market that they start giving us more Xianxia games
Most exalted thread under Heaven right now.
It's just the nature of the setting being a bit of a mishmash. Point is, unlike dogshit like Beware of Chicken or Qi=mc^2 it embraces one truth: Cultivation and martial arts are cool. Getting stronger is cool. Learning secret techniques is cool. Searching for powerups and looking down on your previous realm is cool. Struggling against tough oponents and coming out on top is cool, and that makes it worth playing if you like martial arts stories.
Amazing Cultivation Simulator was a wild ride, I need to play it again sometime. Also am I the only one in this thread currently reading Emperor’s Domination?
Young masters, which style is better? Black Tiger, Jade Serpent or Golden Crane?
Toad
What would you recommend to someone who wants to get into this whole xianxia/wuxia stuff?
Depends what medium you want to engage with it in. If you want to read webnovels are your jam. If you want vidya then just look through this thread for recs.
The thing wuxia/xianxia thaught me is that to better yourself you have to take elixirs (alcohol), pills (drugs) and meditate (take naps).
Martial God Asura
The serious answer is Martial World, it's very cliche, but it executes those cliches very well. I think it's the perfect introduction to Xianxia.
I'm a Mongoose man myself, but I hear Ocelot is pretty good.
I love Martial World. I never actually did finish it but I love the whole idea of the trinity of body, soul and qi that the setting sets up and explores for MC growing in power. It's really cool. Also based spear MC.
best tale of immortal mod has been in stasis since forever
Sad
kek
Nigga over here talken' shit when he's only sixteen tons. The fucking cheek.
This thread smells like perfume
I only like korean depicitions of martial heros, the chinese are really obsessed with parody levels of seeking revenge and genocide. The only chinese one I've liked was Fated Villain.
I wish discussing non japanese things wasn't an insta ban on Anon Babble
Now now young master, don't go starting shit when your breath still smells like mother's milk from a concubine.
came here just to ask this
taiwan/japan co-production
wang li did nothing wrong
teng family massacre
shouldn't have tried to massacre the wang family
I don't know how you can stand reading 2000 chapters. I tried I Shall Seal the Heavens and quit after like 40 chapters because it was so repetitive. I don't know if it's the Chinese or the translation but it was just awful seeing the same phrases show up over and over. I like the idea of xianxia but fuck me it's a slog, Cradle was at least written like a normal book so I didn't mind that, just wanted more of the cutthroat stuff I hear about in the proper series
Read faster
The only chinese one I've liked was Fated Villain.
Junior Brother, if you’re actively seeking out the psycho villain sloppa, you shouldn’t be surprised that that’s what you get. There’s plenty of xianxia without truly gratuitous amounts of edge.
I only watched the phoenix rising movie and it was attaining ridiculous production value and mastery of tension and choregraphy. Truly artisanship from master puppeteers and wood carvers ( with slight post prod effects ) > CGI slop
2000 chapters
Nigga, the chapter length is meaningless, what actually matters is word count, and most webnovels have super short chapters
There are unless you read chinese that is.
I don't seek any of it out, I just read what pops up on the scanlators I already follow. Maybe they just have bad taste. I've also seen plenty of modern time surgeon/doctor chinese manhuas where they get a stupid ugly chibi animal companion and immediately a waifu which annoys me, but I assume thats literal government propaganda trying to convince 12 year olds to become doctors
Well them hopefully the growing popularity as a game market will shine light on them and we can get them localized more often.
Seductress cultivator
Hedonistic Sect
How do you even lose to seductress? Or rather how do you even get horny in middle of life and death battle?
That was uncalled for I merely asked if you'll take some sugar with your tea
In that case, you just need to get better at filtering through novels desu. If you haven’t read hundreds already, use novelupdates and its tag system. If that’s a bust, start trawling aggregator sites. That’s all assuming you want to read the genre tho, so do whatever you want.
what is this?
If they won't they're a demonic cultivator and must be exterminated. Tea is best enjoyed with a little bit of sugar or honey.
how do you even get horny in middle of life and death battle?
Now, I know this’ll sound a little crazy, so stick with me. I think it MIGHT be magic.
Well at the very least it's something new to read about. I tire of Anon Babble eternal loop of shit threads
I'll masturbate enough to get my qi in the negative and break the qi counter
I just want to play a wuxia game with serious tone and is a polished & nice looking game.
Of course if there's basic open world design, then it would be perfect.
any good xianxia anime recently?
Jobs in every cutscene - the game
Hero's Adventure: Road to Passion
You can tame a random chicken in the starting village and if you bring it over the border a dozen hours later he can have a cockfight with some phoenix emperor reincarnation chicken. Among other things.
literally Anon Babble
Oblivion tactics eh? Don't forget to Ring of Heavenly Forfit
Fog Hill of Five Elements.
Not since the DLC dropped
Not Dong Long, proud member of the Dong dynasty.
A weakling like you shall never partake of the greatest meatball.
Would anons recommend Tales of Immortal?
Would hope so, I remember wrecking that one guy's shit so hard in the sect tournament without needing some shitty asspull powerup, but I did still canonically lose
Very.
FeMC heightmogs everyone and has freakishly long arms
Well that's a new one.
ya'll got any of them... amethyst beauties
Does that stupid negative magic shit still work in the remaster? holy fuck
I only have bottles, bottles of tea!
Good enough for me. Gonna try it out.
Tea merchant, I'm going into battle. I need your strongest tea...
indeed it is in everyones motivation in life who werent blessed with a divine calling
This still happens, but at least in the vanilla route of the game , you can now beat the final boss early and get a different ending much sooner
Are we back? Last thread yesterday died early. I am sad I am late for this one but I at least can go through what I missed later to find some good recommendations.
What game?
ACS 2 when? I wanna fly around on a sword and bitch slap random young masters already
What's the xianxia game to play if I want to seduce all the powerful women?
It is guaranteed to suck. Sorry.
Young master, you haven't achieved enough cultivation for my strongest tea.
Wandering Sword
How come?
THE LAND IS CLOAKED IN DEEPEST BLUE
THE SHADOW OF EAGLES ACROSS THE MOON
I shilled this last time, did anyone give it a try, if so what did you think?
i'm sorry i really dont like koreans
gooks are ripping off this specific premise already
They really are soulless bugs with no original thoughts
Bro, this isn’t even murim. You could at least pretend to be somewhat on topic
Fuck your gay ass dancing.
Get Jagga'd
It has nothing to do with that other gook story other than the name being similar, not to mention this one is actually good
Eunuch piss, I think the Empress Dowager is into me. Fellas what the fuck do I do? I don't want to end up like the last guy.
The mc learns martial arts, Koreans are also just Chinese with a different name, it's fine.
I am not going to pretend this is some masterpiece, but it's fun and the protagonist is also basically an isekaided anon
Untapped market. The urge for plucking yin to nourish yang is unmet and binds us to suffering.
Opinions on forbidden yang on yang dual cultivation?
Don't cross the streams you fool under Heaven!
i cant find untapped market on steam
is it somewhere else like a chink dlsite
I mean there are no games, because it is an untapped market. Sorry to get your hopes up anon.
Ying feed yang
And yang feeds ying
Yang with yang won't mix together, but clash with each other. You are more likely to explode to blood mist than see any real progress in your cultivation
Thanks, adding to the wishlist
Videogames?
There are like 3 english games in the genre. You can't have a harem of young beautiful and eternally devoted females in any of them, instead it's just offline MMO/mobile game shit.
I heard this type of games supposed to be a powerfantasy.
Is numbers going up the ultimate fantasy of the so called "lost generation" of chinks?
Worth it
mc isn’t a longhaired pretty boy
Yikes
You can't have a harem of young beautiful and eternally devoted females in any of them
Dohoho
Restarted because metal has some really cool defensive shit, made some good progress too but uh apparently I've missed like multiple plot events like someone getting married and my bro finally being allowed to leave because I was stuck contemplating what my master said for 4 years and I couldn't cancel my meditation to read. At least I'm at foundation now with another 100 more years to burn.
Tits too big.
some of you are actually chinks and its obvious
store.steampowered.com
Is this one any good? I've been eying it for a while now.
The metal to water connection always made the least sense to me personally
looking for Xianxia kino
there's a fucking Xianxia 4x game
It's not in English but god damn am I curious.
Ge?
Really fun imo, stupidly large number of companions which is neat.
A lot of the new cutscenes have you jumping in and deflecting attacks while everyone is like "what the fuck is going on? How has he grown this much in just a few days?". Does a really good job of making the MC and his cultivation technique seem like freakish aberrations. In fact I think MC even gets called a freak at one point.
Yes.
If we combine bugs, translation quality, basic mechanics and progression (that is still easy to break if you put your mind to it) and actual quests/interactions, it's one of the better games you can play in english.
It has faults, like some companions being an afterthought after recruitment, said recruitment have weird(sometimes arcane) requirements and secondary skills needing tons of grind (like crafting) or being useless. But I'd still suggest it easily as a very fun JRPG like wuxia game.
how's the plot/characters/romances (if any)? From the review it seems very expansive in that sense too.
You use metal to carry water and to dig canals that carry water.
you use water to quench steel to make stronger tools
Almost makes sense with rock paper scissors.
Wood consumes water - fire burns wood - earth smothers fires - metal excavates earth - water corrodes metal
"why dont you make me" - famous last words, unknown
is it bad that my introduction into xianxia was via danmei
Japanese manga and novels is just a joke
Chinese stuff has too much bullshit and plot holes
Korean manhwa and novels is good shit if you avoid video games related stuff, they have some kind of obsession with MMOs
Plot and characters are good. There's practically no romance aside from a few of the girls obviously having secret crushes on the MC and the MC blushing a few times while interacting with the main heroine.
what software should I use to translate moonrunes really quick with OCR?
like i'm thinking I hit a keybind > uploads image somewhere or run locally > get the character > get translated to english > shows up in a text box where my cursor is
dude, don't you care about your family? don't you want to make everything about your family? your family? family?
that's a korean novels in a nutshell. once you catch up to that, you can't unsee how utterly "about family" each and every korean piece is.
LunaTranslator? I've heard for Unity games there's BephEx plugin that is widely used
How has he not knocked up like twenty chicks yet?
The protagonists of japanese novels are just too infuriating. This is their biggest weakness, if you find a good protagonist, they can get pretty good.
The problem with Chinese stuff is that too many is just made for profit so there is a lot of padding. With the sheer amount of them also making it so there is too much dogshit floating around. If you find one where the author actually cares, they are great as well.
Korean novels indeed don't have such a clear weak point like Chinese and Japanese do. It's indeed easier to find good Korean stories then Chinese or Japanese. Even the games like elements you mentioned are a pretty universal problem that affects Chinese and Japanese as well. And it hasn't been a big issue with the ones I personally read.
I got burned out by my own autism, giving gifts before sparring with everyone until I emptied their pockets, in each town I entered.
I should try it with a different mindset I guess.
i've used the universal translator plugin for unity games but it replaces ingame moonrunes with english text and breaks everything
i just want something to "learn" the basic so I can hover a character and it spits out the meaning/translation right on my cursor in half a sec or less
i'll try luna translator though it seems to be something I might be able to work around with
i know it's not wuxia themed but it's still chinese (based)
is that netflix adaption of The Three-Body Problem any good? i already saw from the trailer that they switched around the characters significantly (main character isnt chinese or a man) but is it at oleast palatable or should i just watch the chinese adaptions?
i hear the netflix adaption at least keeps the struggle session scene intact
Even the games like elements you mentioned are a pretty universal problem that affects Chinese and Japanese as well. And it hasn't been a big issue with the ones I personally read.
‘Apocalypse happened and the whole world turned into a fucking MMO’ is basically a full-fledged genre for Korean stuff
Koreans do the best western fantasy
You gweilo will never be able to understand the true kino of wuxia.
You will never understand why it's so cool for someone to name himself "lonely begging to lose"
My entire sect just got one shotted by an impudent upstart and torn out by the roots...
You can't post this and not post the source bro
Eh I honestly think it's your bubble more than anything. I am not saying those don't exist because plenty of them clearly do, but they are not that prominent, especially lately I rarely even see any of them.
They had a big boom like 5 years ago but they are old news at this point.
i like to think i do
Tale of Wuxia.
There is an official english release with only few of the updates and awful TL, and a fan retranslation /editing that includes the newer updates and better TL somewhat
Yeah, that guy sounds like he hasn’t read many korean webnovels desu. Korean, Japanese, and Chinese all have major individual flaws. The real key is figuring out your personal pet peeves and how to avoid them in any of the three countries’ webnovels. Another thing he didn’t point out about Korean webnovels is the really aggravating nationalism in a lot of them. China is just as bad if not worse tbf, but you’ll have a decent schlocky wn that gets massively sidetracked by the mc needing to (justly and righteously) genocide thousands of evil Japanese. It’s so dumb.
Return of the Mount Hua Sect should have a game. Or an anime.
Chung Myung is the best main character of a martial novel there is.
Solo leveling got anime just last year
Something similar also got anime adaptation in 2023
This kind of manhwa is one of the most popular
I know this sounds inflammatory, but while he’s fine, Chung Myung is the ideal mc to a 13 yo boy. He’s very very far from being the best.
The 3 biggest subgenre of Korean webnovel. Real world became dungeon bullshit, murim shit or western fantasy. Those are like the only 3 choices for Korean stories.
Korean webnovels is the really aggravating nationalism in a lot of them
It's oddly double-edged
On the one hand it's full of pretty nationalistic stuff but on the other I recall 4 different manhwas where MC becomes bros with Kim Jong Un
It's just weird
You forgot about criminal underworld
Does Nine Sols count? I've been playing it and it's really good.
I'd be a lot more fine with the nationalism if it weren't for the fact that I just slogged through anywhere from 100 to 600 chapters of basically everyone in the mc's home country being an irrational, murderous asshole until suddenly it's homeland above all bros, we've never been more united! Damn foreigners can't comprehend our brotherhood!
Solo level may have just got an anime but it was also written in 2016, this is exactly what I am talking about. Most of you guys watch anime and read manhwa, but manhwa ab anime are mostly adaptations of 5+ year old stories. In the web novel world what they adapt is already old news that isn't explored much anymore in newer works.
I have read a ton of Korean webnovels, clearly more than you since you are still stuck in a fad that has already fizzled out. I actively keep up with the latest Korean stuff, I don't read just the most popular ones like most here do. I am not trying to be aggressive about it, this is just the reality here.
And all three have nationalism indeed.
Japan is just the smartest about it but they still constantly advertise how much better their culture is compared to medieval western worlds but they don't target any specific groups so they are most chill about it. It may be a result of them being the aggressors, so they don't have much reason to hate on the other two, but they are still the least openly racist by far.
China is just outright racist, and Korea can be similarly outright racist as china, although very rarely to the same extent. They still have huge animosity for Japan though, and it does affect their works negatively when expressed.
Also china is basically racist to everyone else, while Korean almost always pinpoints Japan specifically, although exceptions obviously exist and I can easily think of some were Korean where more generally racist like the Chinese.
I recall 4 different manhwas where MC becomes bros with Kim Jong Un
That sounds amazing
Name of these?
korean shit is trash
gets 3-turned with the most recent faust ID
Real world become MMO
Real world become MMO
Real world become MMO
Shoujo about villainess
Shoujo about villainess
Time travel
Shoujo about villainess
Real world become MMO
It was ages ago and otherwise it was so generic ‘Real world becomes MMO’ that I wouldn't remember it even if you show it to me
When was the last time this was even updated?
february
I dropped it when he got the 'negative' powerup that literally gave virgins around him womb tattoos
It's sad that even though the MMO shit is beyond stale, the worst of the slop is by far the villainess shit. What should be an interesting story about leveraging your advantages to ensure your survival all while avoiding romance with the retarded male leads turns into, "hey do all the male characters actually like me, and holy shit is that sociopathic northern duke/emperor/crown prince suddenly obsessed with me???"
This year? Im surprised since it had a fuckhuge gap of nothing.
Omniscient Reader is 9/10 tho
it would be peak if koreans werent so obsessed about making every male protagonist a fucking FAGGOT, but again, koreans will dissapear from this earth in 20 years so its all over anyway
But what games let me be pic related?
The inevitable result of parody becoming the very thing they attempt to make fun of. Same with all that "I'm a mob in a fantasy world" shit that always ends up with the MC being just as MC ish as the MC of the story he's supposedly a mob in.
Yeah that was a bit of a low point. To be fair to the story though he goes and gets a magic ring that negates its effects immediately after so it's basically just an excuse for why the two girls are so horny all the time. Also for comedy I guess since it's pretty in line with his reputation as a supposed barbarian.
a fucking FAGGOT
Koreans tend to go for harems a lot though. It's like it's one extreme or the other with no middle ground.
Koreans are very extreme about it. Either the protagonist never touches a woman or he touches all of them. China and Japan both go for harem most of the time though.
The zero sex drive gook protagonists are a real problem though, and it is weirdly similar to western novels in that regard.
I love villainess manga/manhwa that sticks to its gimmick to the end
So much of it is just becomes generic shoujo romance with reverse harem
clearly more than you since you are still stuck in a fad that has already fizzled out.
Except that was my first post in that chain of convo? Anon Babble is not all one anon. I’ve read an ungodly number of korean webnovels. Also, I feel like it’s pretty cheap of you to try to dodge criticism about Korean webnovels as a whole by saying that it’s not what’s currently super popular. Sure, it might not be as popular as it used to be, but does that magically make them no longer korean webnovels? Trends changing don’t mean that the previous trends never existed. I don’t even really care/mind game-y type wns that much, but your response to the other anon is p disingenuous.
I'm gonna cultivate in the toilet.
That's honestly why when it comes to Korean stories I basically ONLY read ones that are tagged harem cause I can't be bothered with the sexless grind autist shit. When Korean's do harems they're always fun with the girls and their relationship being properly developed unlike in Japanese and Chinese novels where they're basically trophies with zero personality that get discarded as MC power levels past them. Helps that Korean stories tend to be shorter. Main heroines are trying to kill me is one of my favourite webnovels
well i havent read that many manhwas to be fair
but my experience has been that every single time the fans want to fag up the main character and if one author kowtows even once everyone has to do it
notable exceptions: solo leveling being literally "I become trad husband", suicide hunter doing actual romance (most people hated it I say it makes sense in context) and Skeleton Soldier because SS is the chaddest of chads and I wish i had a harem of such quality
greater brown dao of fiber
tfw want to play this game
cant force myself to finish library
Little Tyrant is really good as well. It's Chinese but it reads more similar to a Korean story. The harem is one of its best aspects, one of the best harem I have read period.
Korean novels have other big criticisms you can go for, game shit is just not a problem, especially not one exclusive to them when japanese novels suffer as much if not more from the same issue.
That's my only real issue here. Korean novels have other problems you can criticize, this just isn't one of those very real issues.
Suicide hunter turned to shit after the first 10 or so chapters desu.
MMO shit is too common and samey
Such novels and manwas have exactly same setting word for word
I like it. but again it has to hit just right for me
the only ones I've liked so far are suicide hunter, solo lev, skeleton soldier, beginning after the end and omniscient reader
and solo lev is getting increasedly dragged down by LITERALLY BORUTO GAIDEN BULLSHIT
Skeleton Soldier
Hate how that one kept resetting the skellie's power level, just felt like the author never wanted to keep writing after chapter fifty or so and just kept gping for the money.
The three horsemen of trash
but you said 4 things?
when japanese novels suffer as much if not more from the same issue.
That's my only real issue here. Korean novels have other problems you can criticize, this just isn't one of those very real issues.
Then say that. It’s a much stronger argument than ‘it’s not popular RIGHT NOW among currently serializing webnovels in Korea’
AIIIIIEEEEEEEEE, MOOT WHY DID YOU FUCK UP MY QUOTATION
wacky girl
I love the weirdo alchemy/formation girl especially if she is a young sister. Second best girl in the harem first being the general sister type who keeps the group together and doing things.
What do you mean? His buddy got gender bender into female.
Really? OR got so boring I dropped it. Spoil me on how it went.
Is this the disabled tyrant's favorite pet fish?
if i recall correctly he has ridiculously sped up recovery for the skills he learned in a past life tho
but I might be wrong
still its gonna take like 15 years for the manhwa to be over
This is good writing btw.
That's normalfag gookshit 101 bro. Read some other stuff like
Inside An Ad**t Game As A Former Hero
The Villain Who Robbed the Heroines
Incompatible Interspecies Wives
Abandoned by my Childhood Friend, I Became a War Hero
How To Ruin A Love Comedy
NIGGA I HAVENT READ THE FUCKING NOVEL
not as big a reveal as THE OTHER FUCKING ONE that I spoiled myself into because im a retard, but still
Based owlcat chad
You people need to put the best line in these
anon I literally said "havent read that many"
still all of those titles sound like hentai with extra steps
I'm glad he's just a big cool guy
Gonna suck when the elders gank his ass in a week for the luls
If you want manhwa with good MC growth that is similar to Skeleton Soldier I suggest Eternally Regressing Knight.
MC ends up as a lonely loser who only fantasizes about his favorite male MC and never once thinks about women
I wish she would beat me up
they're going to absolutely butcher 40k wont they
MLS is the name of the novel, fourth horseman is harem
you may one day attack us so that's why you must die
That sounds more Lawful Evil to me.
OUT BY THE ROOTS
It's LG because monsters are inherently evil and it's your right to genocide them without any karmic issues
Based. Killing goblin/orc children was literally always considered a Lawful Good action by Gygax and I still can't believe that example kept on getting used as a "paladin falls" scenario, complete bullshit.
2 of those don't have any sex at all so you are totally wrong you got me.
That aside, all of those are well written (relatively speaking)
The villain who robbed the heroines
This one got a ton of praise for its portrayal of mental illness, the protagonist is the real reason to read here, the girls aren't the focus but they have very interesting developments
Inside An Ad**t Game As A Former Hero
This one just has top tier drama with some very good action. The start is a bit rough though.
Incompatible Interspecies Wives
Very good story and good drama, doesn't have any smut at all as far as I am aware. Just a real solid story overall.
How To Ruin A Love Comedy
Just a real fun read. This is a slice of life modern setting so there is no real action. It's all about the characters and their interactions. It's quite slow though.
Abandoned by my Childhood Friend, I Became a War Hero
Some good drama and world building, not any smut either. Although probably the weakest story out of all of these, it has some very good moments.
Which part of story did you dropped?
MLS is the name of the novel,
Forgive this pig brained junior.
fourth horseman is harem
take that back i've seen okay harems even 1 or two that i liked!
wuxia doesn't work for you?
Check Tale of immortal workshop
All of them are coomer mods
All of them ARE CHINESE
IT ALL OVER AGAIN BUT IT CHINESE INSTEAD OF JAPANESE.
Chinese are horny as fuck
Literally all manhuas look like porn, half of the time even men have massive asses
Is numbers going up the ultimate fantasy of the so called "lost generation" of chinks?
Blame WoW, I'm not even joking.
You can't have a harem of young beautiful and eternally devoted females in any of them, instead it's just offline MMO/mobile game shit.
Wandering Sword, Path of Kungfu (it's sandbox shite, so ymmv), Hero's Adventure, etc
Manhuas are shit so you just shouldn't bother with them anyways. Just read their webnovels.
Looks neat
Thank you
Shouldn't have fucked with the protagonist like a bunch of stereotypical fodder.
Someone is going to have to sit down one day and explain to me why jade-like beauties aren't actually green.
Stop making this a Anon Babble thread and help a brother out

It's not about smoothness, it's about color. Jade (玉, yu) in Chinese literature refers to white when used as a color word. This is because the kind of jade they knew about in China was nephrite, which ranges from white to a medium green. It's not the deep green of jadeite that is commonly thought of when mentioning jade. China didn't know about jadeite until sometime in the 1800s. So it means fair/pale skin.
This color association is common in other phrases. The moon is sometimes called a "jade plate" (玉盤), jade blossoms (玉花) is another way to reference white flowers like chrysanthemum or plum petals, and jade blossoms can also mean "snowflakes", jade lotus = white lotus, a jade rainbow (玉虹) means a frozen waterfall (because the light prisms off the white ice to make rainbow colors), jade face (玉面 or 玉容) is a fair/pale/white face, jade wheel (玉輪) is also the moon, etc.
Because it stands for white, jade is also associated with other "white" things like autumn, metal, and the western direction.
Long story short, jade traits in this case are smooth, white and slightly cold and these are all aspects of beauty in china
White jade exists. It basically looks like marble.
They are just saying their skin is as white and pure as marble.
ok
*sits down*
White jade exists
*stand up*
*Turns 360° and walks aways*
this is a 10/10 in ancient china
see your 101,653rd retarded commoner
this one is even worse because he has an incredibly arrogant disposition
you can tell he actually believes he's above everyone around him
gets good advice in reminding him to be more aware of his station in life, because just looking at someone the wrong way instantly gets you killed in xianxia land
arrogant commoner takes offense to this
alright cool just get the fuck out of this store then, if you provoke the wrong person my entire business could collapse
stupid commoner walks out yelling 30 YEARS HEDONG 30 YEARS HEXI at the top of his lungs
my sect collapses 10 years later
I will now read your novel.
A reminder that the whole subgenre of villain wuxia/xianxia novels spawned from this idea.
I've tried to read ORV twice. Dropped it half way through the first time, dropped it 100 chapters from the end the second time. It's just so fucking boring man. I don't understand the hype. I should go back and finish the last hundred chapters at some point since I'm at the final arc but I just don't give a fuck about anyone or anything that's happening.
he doesn't know
be AYM walking down the market with your bodyguard
this smelly peasant comes near you and offer you a potato
what do?
The everything was a dream ending made me refuse to read any more of that shit on principle alone
I don't recommend doing that. You already don't like it and the ending is fucking terrible
Take her as a concubine.
why would i pick smelly malnourished hobos over jade skinned beauties?
For the same reason women with "fiery red hair" in western novels don't literally have their hair set on fire.
welp
some people like it some people dont
and that isnt bad
i just have a ton of fun watching him do the shonen shit of getting over his head and wriggling out by the skin of his teeth
I also like the constellation bullshit
I'm not saying its fucking russian literature but I have a ton of fun with it
That's fair but it just comes across as Smut, and while I don't mind smut I like to keep it seperated from my serious reading. Either make it porn or fuck off please
This shit had so much hype on NU. I forced myself to read like 40 chapters of it and it was some of the most mediocre shit I have ever read.
It wasn't outright bad, it just didn't have anything good about it. Maybe it gets better later on I don't know...
Yeah? post some of your favorite harems then.
cursory scan for spiritual roots/physique/aptitude
if yes, take them back as a servant
if no, remind them not to approach well-dressed people in the future as it is incredibly dangerous for commoners like them
this reminder will have to be a bit rough though, otherwise the face of the family will be lost and our walls will be swarmed by beggars seeking more compassion
just another day in the life
The only reason AYM get written as brainless, retarded, violent sexfiends is because otherwise they come off as way more reasonable than the typical MC.
Seconding, one of the only good RRL novels of late. I like its slow burn and abstract sort of magic style, and the characters mostly feel real enough, especially Thaddeus. And thank fucking christ it's not some litrpg slop with ten different tags in the name.
rape is a battle tactic
wat
Rance approved
YOU DARE?!
Star Wars is wuxia
Yeah I guess, I just wanted to learn what the wall was ultimately. Can you spoil that for me?
The author does tread a weird middle ground where he keeps teasing us without anything actually happening, at leyto the point I read.
The story doesn't get any worse after this point and it basically bounces around to the same level it was before if not better so I would recommend you to turn a blind eye to this for now if you can and to continue reading if you actually enjoyed what you read so far outside of that.
The ring he gets to fix this imprint later on causes him to lose control of his hands occasionally among other negative side effects that change depending on what magic stone he is using in his ring, so outside of the comedy/romantic aspects, it's a real consequence of his exploration of the labyrinth, and something he has to live with.
That permanent consequences of the labyrinth is a really good aspect in my opinion at least, so it's good to see the protagonist isn't totally immune to it thanks to plot armor.
I'd say so
Parrying is fun
Sevens
LTBE
Main Heroines Are Trying to Kill Me
Extra’s Academy Survival Guide
Killed the Player of the Academy
not him
Sevens
Actual trash, I still don't get why people overrate this incredibly frustrating novel. The other shit you listed is way more tolerable.
Leak 1% of my killing intent turning her and atleast 7 billion other people into a bloody mist instantly.
incredibly frustrating novel
the early part is fucking rough yeah i agree, but it is important for the plot development and not just suffering/drama for the sake of drama. best part of that one isnt even the harem is the peanut gallery of old men that lives rent free inside MC's head
not him
Thats fine im just looking for some decent harems to read. Thanks
LTBE
MY MAN
Killed the Player of the Academy
I read something about this not being a harem I think, or maybe I am misremembering
I eat it raw like an apple and job to a parasite.
It's okay, you didn't actually job. You were just an unfortunate extra in parasite transmigration novel #102
I've just started to play Jade Empire and it's been fun so far. The only real complaint I have with is it the simplistic morality system. The way Smiling Mountain described it, it was more of a binary between being orderly or being chaotic, but it still seems to result in a pretty black-and-white karma system. It's also interesting to compare the game and later Bioware games. Like Black Whirlwind feels a lot like a proto Wrex to me.
parasite
I thought this was a second coming of gluttony reference but I didn't remember any gag about potatoes
Im going to do it im going to namedrop my favorite trash
Spirit vessel
Otherworldly evil monarch
author uses the recognize mount tai phrase
then immediately clarifies that there's no mount tai in this world but the phrase still exists (even though there's no mount tai in reality either)
god I love this pulp
What's the current cultivation novel trend? last time I was reading them it's about hiding your power and identity like a schizo because apparently if you sell anything slightly more valuable than a roadside pebble anyone will try to rob you.
even though there's no mount tai in reality either
For me it's Return of the Mad Demon.
It's a korean murim manhwa but i just really like it. The protagonist is crazy and unpredictable and it has good humor.
lovecraft + cultivation
involution + cultivation
folklore / superstition + cultivation
YOU ARE COURTING DEATH
literally no one says this
name 3 novel
The korean murim i like is red storm but i swear its decent
The mount tai thing can also be explained as something completely unrelated to the mountain so it works better than you may think
youtu.be
Everything that Er Gen has ever written
I'll check it out then. I'm kinda starved for stuff to read these days so i've just been picking up random shit lately.
For me it's Return of the Mad Demon.
It's a korean murim manhwa but i just really like it. The protagonist is crazy and unpredictable and it has good humor.
Ah yes the monkey waifu one. As far as the slop goes it's actually very decent, more boring than actually outright bad.
Is Where Winds Meet ever coming out in NA?
I've played through the game twice, once before the story expansions and once after. I though the game was good before but with all the stuff they've added it's become one of my favorite rpg's ever.
Anyone read any good Xianxia stuff lately
Not any regular "only xianxia" ones that kept my interest no, but i've read a bunch of good (and more bad) webnovels set in xianxia worlds.
I'm not a life changer
The demonic world I designed
Exposed as the counterfeit heir from the very beginning, I ascended to the throne as emperor on the spot
The immortality mode is on, and I am a god in the weird world
Are all pretty good so far. The worldbuilding and mystery is on-point but if you can't stand rebirth, system or some game elements being used some of them might not be to your taste.
Otherwise i'd just check out the Xianxia category on Qidian/MTL sites and find the most popular recent ones that don't have systems or overly intrusive "goldfingers".
There are a few good korean webnovels I've read.
Kidnapped Dragons (amazing), Second Coming of Gluttony (pretty good), FFF class trash hero was pretty fun too.
But yeah most aren't great.
I remember her. He fed her laxatives. It's been a while since she appeared.
lovecraft + cultivation
i require explanation
how does this even work
is this "you do the cultivation meme so that you can punch out cthulhu"?
Just read lord of mysteries.
Cultivation and Lovecraft actually synergizes very well if you think about it.
Cultivation except instead of cultivating to the point where you rule over a concept or even transcend it, concepts are inherently corrupt and twisted and you cultivate to the point of embodying certain aspects of chaos while doing your best to maintain your sanity. Basically the same shit
This is my favorite Korean regressor novel
ok, thank you
to be honest, I dont read the novels at all, I enjoy the manhwas, so this is a superior level of nerdery for me
enter thread expecting vidya talk
all the talk is about novels
Disappointing
Nigga no one here can read korean say the title.
What's the current cultivation novel trend? last time I was reading them it's about hiding your power and identity like a schizo because apparently if you sell anything slightly more valuable than a roadside pebble anyone will try to rob you.
Did My Senior Brother is Too Steady really become that big, or was it something else?
A few common elements (since the story can go in a few ways) on the recent spade of 'lovecraftian' subgenre:
mysterious, unspeakable horrors that wipes out entire cities and villages
cultivation exists, but may cause terrible mutations / turn you into lovecraft beings.
authority actively cover shit up and keep people in the dark like cattles, often times aligned to eldritch horrors killing normal people
immortals / sages are almost certainly elder gods or stand-ins
Basically, covid really left a mark.
There are sadly not that many cultivation games to talk about. And there isn't really a place to talk about the novels either.
novelupdates.com
i dont really know how to describe it, its its own thing. read the first chapter and see if that hooks you all the chapters have similar feels
Reverend Insanity gets carried by its MC
Everything else MLS just does better
Who cares?
You are courting death
Is, like Mt. Tai, a fun meme of the genre
His moodswings are pretty fucking wild. That protagonist is fucking nuts.
Does it play like a shmup? I recently bought store.steampowered.com
The /isekai/ general on Anon Babble does talk about them quiet a bit, including Korean novels and murim shit. So it's by far the best permanent place to discuss them. But it also depends on what the flavor of the month is. Sometimes they are very popular there, oftentimes not as much.
You can't go back to reading western novels afterwards
>transmigration
RI is also transmigration btw
>time loop
The thing in MLS is not time loop. It's not even regression since the mc can use the cheat infinitely. If anything it's more like the cheat in Re:Zero or RI, which is not that common to be called trash
>game elements
There is no real game elements in MLS. You dont auto learn skill when you read a book, cant level up when killing monsters, no quest or class or anything like that
In essence it is just a golden finger with an actual UI to navigate
Its not a real transmigration if the only mention of it is the first chapter
MLS is not real transmigration if that is the case then
Probably modded Tales of Immortal just going by the mod store having pregnancy mods.
Unironically Martial world
It's the very definition of average, containing all the tropes of the genre, that after reading it you can immediately tell which novel is worth reading to kill time, is actually good or just waste of time
Read a bit of the webtoon. I like it okay but a lot of that is just coasting off my like of roguelikes rather than finding the story content itself all that great.
Does this have any romance whatsoever?
I don't even want it to be important, it's just that totally asexual protagonists just put me off the story completely
It doesn't have a webtoon anon. You read this, which is a completely different story and one that's not nearly as good.
Their names are just similar.
Save it for someone who needs it madam.
RI is also transmigration btw
from what I remember it only has going back in time once, but it's been years since I read it
involution + cultivation
?the most popular cultivation novel at this very moment is a satire work about college entrance exam pressure, 996 work culture, and worker exploitation
Um... are they okay over there?
what software should I use to translate moonrunes really quick with OCR?
YomiNinja, Kanjitomo, Capture2Text.
mogs your favorite web serial
NTA but he goes back in time multiple times. That's still not transmigration though.
Master Liu Tianming's eyes blazed like twin suns as he approached the GameStop fortress. The sacred Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order—legend spoke of only one remaining in all the realm.
"I seek the legendary console," Liu declared, his voice cutting through the fluorescent wasteland like a blade through silk.
The store guardian, Zhang Wei of the Red Vest, clutched his register like a war fan. "Impossible! The pre-orders have vanished like morning mist!" His killing intent caused Liu to notice the man who he would otherwise have slain instantly without even noticing.
His mastery of the Eagle's Fatigue: Screen Scrying Gaze technique pierced the deception. Behind the counter, a single Switch 2 box pulsed with ethereal power—Zhang's own reserved treasure!
"You dare dishonor the Way of Customer Service?" Liu's righteous qi erupted, rattling the Funko Pop displays like autumn leaves. All those wishing to purchase died on the spot, and there were many.
Zhang Wei's face grew pale as mountain snow with the venom of pride. "Peasant! Don't you know! Even if the divine system revealed a single preorder remaining, one such as you could never afford even a single game product, huh?! You should know archfiend Bowser of the Hidden Turtle is demanding a higher price than usual! Perhaps you would prefer to browse the Library of PlayStation exclusives?"
that place is absolute dogshit filled with schizos, unironic seaniggers and ritual spammers but yeah its really the only place to talk about eastern webnovel scene on this site. they discuss and give good reccomendations once in a while when they're not raging about CF's, NTR and party betrayals
At least shit like this and Survival Story of a Sword King have the balls to make their MCs jacked. Most jap/korean/chinese novels completely shit on buff dudes and always wank off their "lean and not overly muscular" MCs who are totally stronger than the musclemen despite having a good 100 kg less muscle mass.
I remember reading that the protagonist in this just goes from one tragic plot to another anon stop
It took all of Liu's discipline and loyalty to the principles of greater shitposting to see through this second deception. Like a spear fired from the bow of the Phoenix, revelation struck him!
"Yet my Celestial Drone's Second Sight of Lucky Heaven reveals the truth!" Liu's spiritual energy swept through the store like a hurricane. Xbox controllers trembled on their hooks in fear of Liu's fury. Pokemon cards scattered like cherry blossoms, such that even the East Brown Hand Scalper School who had been surveying the carnage dare not approach to plunder the site of destined confrontation. "Such a place would curse me to wander for ten thousand ages, it is a wasteland of the dead! I will find no exclusives there, will I!"
Just then, the whole fortress became a place of great danger!
Zhang Wei unleashed his Store Policy Palm Strike onto the surface of his invincible countertop. Even this relic of heaven crumbled in awe of his greed, and the sound that clapped from his hand killed even the emperor of the second dynasty. "The rules are absolute! No exceptions!"
The two masters began to circle one another along the banks of the Hell River: Used Video Game Aisle. Zhang Wei deployed his Corporate Policy defense forms, erecting protective barriers of "store regulations" and "manager approval required" behind which his bloodlust increased one thousand fold! Liu matched him with his Persistent Customer technique, each question striking like lightning: "What about the display model?" "Can you check other locations?" "When will more arrive?" "Who the hell is the manager of this place anyway?!"
Korean novels indeed don't have such a clear weak point like Chinese and Japanese do.
They do.
They imitate each other even more than the chinese do. It's not to the point of "X has an idea let's steal the core idea and then do my own thing" but to the point where they'll plagiarize entire arcs and characters.
That and the Koreans are even more prone to injecting national butthurt (of the left, right or egotist variety) and edge into their stories than the chinese are.
I don't hate their webnovels or anything but they're a shitton more samey than chinese or even jp narouslop are in general, at least the ones you can find in english or MTL yourself. Naver is also way more asshurt over piracy than qidian or kakuyomi.
But Zhang Wei moved his fingers like a centipede over his register, sneering at the Eternal Record of Sales. "Liu Tiangming, even you will bow to the might of the GameStop Pro Membership Offer!"
Their qi clashed in mid-air, every strike of their wills an invisible blow creating ripples that disturbed the very fabric of retail itself. The customer tribe fled their ancestral Lands of Queue as price tags spontaneously combusted from the intensity. Neither man would be denied, it seemed!
Finally, Liu unleashed his ultimate technique— the Fated Finger: Gratuity Gambit of the Hidden Exchange! A crisp twenty-dollar bill materialized between his fingers like a sacred talisman, its audacity slaying Zhang Wei's false god of Economic Rules.
Zhang Wei's defenses crumbled. His greed-clouded eyes cleared as Liu's generosity purified his corrupted retail soul, ripping through his body like a dragon. As if in flight his hand reached out and received the financial blessing from heaven. The last of his evil nature rebelled as he was pinned to the ground under the weight of such a ploy, processing the transaction with the full dexterity of a well trained spirit. Offering one final desperate counter, his darkness channeled forth into a perfect technique!
excited for that one rune factory wuxia game
ONLY ONE MARTIAL ART
fuck that
Survival story of a sword king is peak. But i hate how they gave the protagonist the abillity to turn into a twink later in the story.
"Young master, I see that you are well instructed! Surely your teacher has revealed to you the Fading Leaf: GameStop Pro Membership Card? It pays for itself by light of the next moon, one hundred - No, ten hundred thousand fold!" A third deception!
"Fool!"
"Forgive this humble servant!" Zhang Wei kowtowed behind the register. "The console preorder... it can be yours!"
Victory achieved through the ancient art of bribery, Liu Tianming claimed his prize, leaving Zhang Wei enriched in both spirit and wallet. Liu took his sacred writ of security from Zhang Wei of the White Spirit who must now cultivate a new day of righteousness in order even to breathe.
"I shall return a fortnight and a day before the solstice."
As Zhang Wei let out his evil life's final breath, Liu Tiangming turned to leave, his eyes closed to the wretched sight of the fortress crumbling around him with every footfall.
"On that day we will meet again. Should you fail to pay me due homage, I will leave with more than just the legendary console..."
His words fell on deaf ears, for Zhang Wei had already fallen into the destined slumber, his service to Master Liu ensured for ten billion centuries. Just then as Liu walked into the ancestral kingdom, Zhang Wei's fist clenched eagerly...
"Copy... That...!"
The ending arcs of OR are boring as fuck and it fizzled out. The demon world and Asmodeus were less interesting than even the train station.
I enjoy its culture quite a bit personally. Discussing about CF betrayals (which is extremely on theme with wuxia) and NTR or other betrayals is just fun sometimes. And if has spawned some very high effort shit posts like pic related.
The level of discussion has dropped a lot there lately unfortunately, with novel discussion becoming less prominent as newfags flood the threads, and there is also that one specific newfag that constantly shits on Korean novels, or anything nob japanese for that matter, but I expect him to give up and move on eventually.
Not nearly as good
I've never read black haired barbarian but i really like reading this one so far. What makes the other one so much better? Also how many chapters are there? Is it a light novel or a webnovel?
it's peak
Black Whirlwind is based off of a Water Margin character.
Also do yourself a favour and install this:moddb.com
Just read Dao of bizarre immortal
Warning tho: it is a suffer porn novel
I know there's several more with sect training stuff but I forget their names at the moment.
My guess would be Ho Tu Lo Shu: The Books of Dragon has some and probably Tale of Wuxia as well.
That's kind of what happens, yes, but I like it
How is Mirror Legacy?
I heard it is another suffer porn, feeling reluctant to read it.
Or in short
written to entertain straight men
Wandering sword is usually mentioned when people talk about hero adventure
It is not as good tho
Otherworldly evil monarch
Based I should go back and read that again. I hadn't gotten into MTL and it wasn't translated back when I followed it.
Webnovel. It's just a better written story. Don't get me wrong, this one isn't a bad story by a h means, it just didn't feel like anything particularly great to me.
The one I am talking about just has much better action (like surprisingly Amazon action, some of the best action I have read in any novel period), much better characters, and a more interesting power system that introduces more risk and real stakes in travelling the labyrinth.
It's just a much more interesting read to me.
See this is why I couldnt into cultivationshittery
its so over the top and the prose is so flowery I'd be vomiting my lungs every three pages either due to exhaustion or because I'm laughing so hard
junior, hone your dao heart for another thousand years
Yeah I don't think you can see Mount Tai
checked
guess I'll find out in 10 years or so when they finish the fucking webtoon because sure as fuck i wont read the novel
mc composes a chuuni as fuck original poem on the spot
Please for the love of the heavenly dao just stick to ripping off Li Bai, thank you authors.
Prose has nothing to do with genres, but everything to do with the author itself. There are plenty of cultivation novels with very simple prose don't be ridiculous.
The vast majority of cultivation stuff is basically slop, do you really think low effort stuff like that is going to have flowery prose?
Of course that also means that there is pletny of good stuff with simple prose as well.
Unfortunately the author just doesn't know when to stop and goes full miseryporn after miseryporn all the time. There's no climax to anything because the MC can never do anything right in the eyes of the setting characters so it just becomes a chore to read after he gets chastised for the 500th time for not being able to read minds. Basically the only ones who aren't total douchebags are the murderous wizards.
t. dropped it shortly after the priestess started lecturing him about gods and there was more noble backstabbing because he helped a dude.
t. frog in a well
"Copy... That...!"
KINO
Surprisingly well paced for cultivation slop.
Junior hasnt read enough to see Mt.Tai and stuck in the well
Cultivator = Wizard
Comprehending Dao = Studying Magic
"Martial arts" are always actually spells in Xianxia
