Star Ocean 2 R. Same game, combat improved, new content, crafting now has the factor system, can see your relationship points, can pick old/new music, 3 art styles, and multiple voices to pick for Japanese.

All you miss is the pre-rendered backgrounds and the PS1 English dub.

The gameplay in the remake only becomes better with certain mods. Cutscenes, story, voice acting, lighting and atmosphere are better in the original. The graphics in the remake are really ugly to look at.

I'm gonna get this when it's on sale for the summer. I know this is a question that has no real right answer but playing with controller is the intended experience, just like the original, right?

Like many modern Capcom games, the remake looks terrible and washed out if you play it in SDR but looks great in HDR. It also fixes the black floor and the game doesn't look so dark.

PS1 FF7 might be better overall but for people who love Aerith and all that gay girly shit like shipping, the Remake is a massive improvement over the original.

The lighting is still shit. No matter the brightness settings night never looks like it and everything looks fake. Reminds me of LotR and the Hobbit. The former being on film and the latter being digital with the lighting looking like a video game.

It is an issue in that the towns feel smaller so it's not perfect, but it's about as close to perfect as any remake has ever gotten.
They did improve some areas too though, mainly the ruined lab on Nede.

I loved this remake. Too bad about RE3 remake. Shit was so ass. Missing entire areas. So dumb. It just feels rushed.
