DOA

that shit was always extremely cringe

Has there been a good live-action video game film adaptation yet?

fucking why

every time someone posts the word watch dogs my brain autocorrects it to sleeping dogs

then I actually get depressed seeing it's about watch dogs

tfw will never have a kino John Woo esque Sleeping Dogs movie

The wrong dog won in the end

jewish movie producer sees headline about a game selling 6 gorillion copies

thinks "oy vey, over 6 quadrillion! i gotta get in on this!"

goes to publisher and buys the movie rights

by the time the movie actually gets made nobody gives a shit about the game

This is also why you see headlines about some video game movie currently in production only to never hear about it again. Remember how you'd hear about a half-life movie happening every so often?

Same reason all these other shitty vidya movies and TV shows are being made.
Hollywood has run out of ideas and surrendered to vidya, so now they want to try to capture the vidya audience by making movies based on vidya.

But will it have our guy, Wrench?

This would have been cool before Watch Dogs 2 ruined the franchise.

Ubisoft isn't content only making video game flops.

no

Did that Assassins's Creed with the Magneto guy movie do well, box-office wise?
I remember it being boring as hell.

they should've done watch dogs legion 2. it was a cool idea, should've had another chance.

Mario

Mortal Kombat was good.

let's make a movie game

and not choose The Division or Far Cry

but why?

I seriously get baffled at what I usually see big corpos doing with their franchises.
Watchdogs failed at being a success in any aspect. 1, 2, Legion, all of them failed to be major hits and the franchise been in life support since the last game with no new announcements in sight.
Who in the marketing department, who in financial meeting, brainstorming sessions, thought this was a good idea, that would be profitable?
This corpos pay good money for "professionals" to help guide ips, to promote ips, to make money through productions. Anyone with 2 functional brain cells will tell ubisoft to not make a movie based on watch dogs, would tell ubisoft watch dogs isn't marketable, that no one will watch this shit because no one cares about the franchise.

But here we are, a movie based on a ignored IP.
No wonder ubisoft is in the shit. It is being run by idiots who follow the ideas of absolute retards.

the silent hill movie isnt horrible, very watchable. i could see it work a lot better as miniseries though. they always try to stuff to much content into one movie, references everywhere and no restraint. trim the fat.

you now know/remember that they announced a tv show for skull and bones, the AAAA game. in 2019. 5 years before the release of the game.
i like the first silent hill movie. it's objectively just not good like all the other video game adaptations but damnit, it's trying its best and i have a soft spot for bad movies with good parts.

Well said.

oh cool
something else to not pay for

Are they charging $80 for tickets?

it's objectively just not good

yeah, but i see the potential and as you said, it's trying.

It reminded me of Nolan-slop.

1 was a pretty great game, just not the GTA V killer people thought it would be.

tough shit.
you will get disney-fied sleeping dogs, spearheaded by the dude that played ten rings in MCU.

1 was pretty popular but the marketing made it seem like it would be better than GTA V, so that disappointed a lot of people. Great game, I like it, I get why they chose to go after GTA V for sales but I don't think that comparison was good for it in the long run.

run film_wrapped.exe(#watchdogsmovie.mp4)

They can't even program right. No wonder they're going bankrupt.

It was mediocre and the story was dumb. Awful driving.

from my eyes there are several kinds of copororate incompetence
all corpos are incompetent when it comes to their actual product, but it usually is

Pet project blinders - They love their deviantart OCs so much, they will funnel infinite money into an IP to try and force it to "success" and simply not see no one else cares for it. see: watchdogs, horizon, tlou, nu marathon

Out of touch boomers - Usually wildly late to industry trends, cannot fathom taking risks on new ideas, lets other take risks for them. See souls clones, fortnite clones, cod clones of yesteryear

Terminally political - Absofuckinglutely obsessed with online politics, entire world revolves around social media, always the first to ask "Why is there not a nigger woman in my field of view for these three frames of the game?" Debora Wilson games, nu wolfenstein, mass effect andromeda

Anything else I'm missing?

of course they did

my fucking god, and i was wondering why does ubisoft has to do with sleeping dogs for a second

They've been trying to pivot to film for a while (the Divison 1-2 marketing had some live action stuff). If anything, they should hire Kojimbo to make a film for them and get it over with for both of them.

shitty game gets a movie

Interesting.

1 was pretty popular

i never heard one word spoken of that game outside of Anon Babble and yahtzee
and im actually pretty social online

2 was better than 1

Fucking Hollywood can't go under soon enough

Is there a good live-action adaption of anything?

Test

I generally agree with you, but the first game was actually good.

We'll have to wait for the SH2 film adaptation later this year.

Postal

Were you online in 2014?

Street Fighter

Mortal Kombat

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

Resident Evil 1&2

Only ones i rewatch from time to time.

had a brain fart and thought you meant Sleeping Dogs and was looking for the chinks in this photo

You have no taste.

No, i was on Anon Babble and watching yahtzee but they were my own versions where i narrated reviews in my head and wrote down image board posts and conversations from my imagination yes you idiot i was online in 2014

all of those suck both on their own and as an adaptation

I thought TR2 was fine, but it wasn't anything amazing to write home about.

feces tastes worse, which means it's okay for me to drink piss!

Nope

The problem that you and other detractors in this thread seem to be having is thinking the name is the draw. I think a watch dogs movie would resonate with a lot of people in our always-connected world even if they have no idea what the IP is about. The video game movies that all failed relied on name recognition. A watchdog movie could be carried by the premise because, honestly, the name recognition isn't there. If it's done well, it might be successful.

food analogy

when the series is dead

Worked for Rampage

Rampage was the best godzilla movie of the 21st century until minus one came out.

It did?

poop and pee is food

i breast my case

Same i thought this was about Sleeping dogs and got mildy interested because it could be Kino if it wasn't made by hollyjew but instead it was ubishit.

I liked the first Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill.
I heard Warcraft was pretty well liked among fans but I never got into the series nor watched the movie.

we almost did and it went into dev hell with no updates

how do you do fellow kids?

obvious ubisoft shill
remember ubisoft admitted they hire PR companies to post on message boards like this

same I read sleeping dogs and clicked only to find out it's watch dogs

Honestly why are there so many watch dogs games when they are all dogshit.

hollywood boomers are so out of touch, its unreal
