Elin hype thread
Release date: 1 November 2024
Holy shit I had no idea. I hope it lives up to its predecessor.
Will I like it if I found Elona way too random?
What is this and why should I care?
Been waiting for this for so long, hopefully it'll tide me over to at least the end of the year when I'll have a bunch of other stuff to play as well
"A sequel to the legendary Japanese free game "Elona," which has inspired countless tales and adventurers who never returned. While retaining the traditional roguelike gameplay, Elin introduces crafting, survival elements, and base building/management, creating an even more open and chaotic experience.
Live freely as an adventurer with your companions and pets. The marks you leave and the scars you inflict upon this world are entirely up to you."
will it have an uncensor patch? i only played an early alpha build very very briefly idk if they will still have all the good degen shit in this one
roguelike
And just like that I completely lost all interested. Into the trash it goes.
Well, it is more RPG than roguelike tbdesu
The only rogulike elements are permadeath and autism stat spreadsheets
Elona doesn't even have permadeath, you respawn when you die with penalties. Though ironically even without the permadeath it plays WAY more like a true roguelike than all of this action roguelite slop we get now.
No, it's literally Elona with a different perspective.
Eh, I'll buy it anyway. Despite the somewhat tank controls and randomness, I liked everything else in Elona.

I'm ready.
Can I ignore multiplayer and social features like in Elona?
Will it still have the autistic dungeon crawling that I love?
can I make an army of godslaying little girls by grinding their stats for 500 hours though? can I still make my favorite little girl an abomination with 30 legs so she is a god tier mount?
While I'm excited for Elin, I didn't like Elona until Elona+ Custom GX, which probably means I won't enjoy Elin too much due to the lack of content.
I only ever played Elona Shooter on a flash game site
I can't wait for this shit.
Elona+ Custom GX
Should I play it?
Same, why do so many studios sabotage their games like this? Are there that many people who will only play roguelikes?
You could just wait 2 days to play a likely much better game
It's rogue meets elder scrolls plus a healthy dose of absurdity. If that appeals to you, then go ahead.
Elona+ introduced Loss mode where it deletes your save when you die and if you try to cheat by closing the game when you're near death you get hit with a permanent HP/MP penalty and your Karma goes to -100
Hopefully this one won't be as much of a bitch to mod
freeware game under continuous development and modding for 16 years
brand new freeware alpha test of a new game made by the same people
I think I'll stay on the stable branch for now kthxbai
Fine I downloaded it too because I'm also impatient. I'm surprised it has gamepad support.
it was literally out for months if you backed the kickstarter or pirated
Anon Babble'S GONNA FREAK!!!
I didn't know. I was waiting for a demo at Nextfest.
if you backed the kickstarter
I wanted to. But then I had to move for reasons and it got really expensive and I just couldn't.
Sucks. I wanted to.
Havebackers been enjoying it?
yep. missed the window and unlike other games i've seen on kickstarter they refused to let you buy into it after that.
Havebackers been enjoying it?
can't say for rest of them since I didn't join the discord but the game's pretty fun and general improvement over Elona/Elona+ for me. still pretty unfinished in some aspects but Noa has insane update schedule with update pretty much every day or every other day since the alpha
holy sovl
Yes, if anything, it'll be a good precursor to what to expect in Elin. Custom GX has a lot of QOL improvements and a shit ton of added content, including 2 entirely new continents that's not included in the base game.
This game gets a sequel after 17 years yet there's no fanfare or press coverage. I will never understand why this wasn't featured on The Game Awards. Geoff Keighley supposedly love indie games, yet Elin wasn't mentioned even once.
It’s probably one of the most successful recent Japanese Kickstarter campaigns, and it’s constantly covered in their vidya press. Just check Noa's account
roguelike
crafting
base building
What does this bullshit add to anything at all?
Why do people like this?
probably for the best, I could see the outrage nowadays because of some of the mechanics
enslaving little girls and milking them
Japan, dude
Elin on Game Awards
Nightmare fuel
Elona was one of the first games to introduce this back in 2007, so Elin gets a pass. It had houses, mansions, shops, fancy furniture, even the AS-type system where you could visit other players' houses.
AC-type*
I wonder if Noa will ever resume this project
