That's not what happened at all. Clea explained very clearly what was happening and told Alicia she could go and help Renoir if she wished to, not really expecting much to come of it. Aline was already trapped and the plan was to starve her out of the painting, Clea just figured Alicia helping as well might speed up the process or, at the very least, give Alicia something to do while Clea went out to take care of some business.

When Alicia entered the canvas she got overwhelmed by Aline's chroma and lost herself in it. Clea noticed this and just sorta shrugged and left anyway.
