Games aren't optimized for the Deck because the entire point of the thing is that it's a linux pc in a cute wrapper, that's why someone with one doesn't really have to worry about low sales, because they will survive as long as autists work on proton builds.
Games were optimized to hell and back for the switch because it was a funny potato even on release, and it unironically benefited everyone when it happened (As far as I remember, Warframe on PC inherited a lot of the optimizations of the Switch port, as an example)

As mentioned next year I'll be moving around for work and almost never get to help my brothers and my parents are technological retards. So who's going to help them understand proton versions, desktop or gaming mode, how to play Minecraft with mods, how to change graphics settings for performance or video quality? Fix problems that come up, calibrate thumb sticks, fix it when something goes wrong? Who's going to know when the sales are coming up and all of this?

The biggest problem with the deck over the switch is learning all of this, on top of the basics for a computer. Like always, convenience is what's being sold, not the actual product.

Xbox would sell far less than PlayStations if the Xbox was better, cheaper, there was no exclusives but the only difference is that you need to go into game settings and when you plug in a controller, you might need to do something with it to make it work.
