YOU VILL OWN NOTHING

YOU VILL OWN NOTHING
UND YOU VILL BE HAPPY

You're right. I won't own a Switch 2 and I will be happy about it.

this is just a replacement for buying a product key piece of cardboard, but you can resell it

What happens if I dont have internet 24/7?

you should be working harder at the coal mine instead of buying fake games

Outrage about something that was standardized a decade ago on PC

Pic related

the difference between this is you can actually sell these things again because they arent one use only unlike anything on Steam

selling your vidya

I will never understand this

Until Nintendo shuts down the servers.

oh no I was going to sell my stocks and invest in Switch 2 games but guess thats impossible now, thanks Nintendo

Gulping down Steam digital-only games Valve jizz for decades

Resellable key cartridges are bad because... they just are, OK!?

PC cum guzzlers will always amuse me.

You don't understand the concept of somebody buying a game and then for any multitude of reasons (not liking it, realizing they'll never play through it again, etc.) would want to get rid of it and get some of their money back?

No, I don't.
I never once bought a bad game

PCbeggars are upset because they can't steal the Nintendo games they desperately need since they have no games

s..shut up! consoom!

but you can resell it

These things won't have much of a resell value for collectors, the primary target for physical games in 2025. They'll become useless once Nintendo takes down the servers in 10-15 years.

Not selling your vidya

Oh i forgot that some people only buy games on Steam and arent able to resell them

do the files download into the cart or into the console? that defines everything

I've got more games than you. And I don't need to pay an "upgrade" fee every time I replace my hardware.

No, instead you pay 600x the upgrade price for the hardware.

image0-2.png - 920x723, 174.98K

Ive got more games than you

Every steam deck thread is about how people want to emulate Switch or Nintendo games

kek

DROP THE PRICE

What are you, poor?

No no nono.you see, they like nintendo ironically so it's fine

I'll be honest, I don't even know how to feel about the game key card thing. I feel like my personal issue with digital has always been the lack of true permanence because a store will inevitably go down, and this doesn't address that, but this doesn't allow you to resell like a physical game which is at least something of a middle step. Though that still inevitably becomes worthless eventually for the same reason.

At this point do I personally want the box that much? I mean I dunno. I want Bravely Default, should I just buy it digital or physical? Do I want a box that only has purpose for 10 years when the point of that physical box and cart is supposed to be permanence?

Paying $7,199.00 for an ASUS product.

Yes, you just pay the njewdia tax instead. Hopefully your connector doesn’t melt!

I want Bravely Default, should I just buy it digital or physical?

Just emulate or play on a modded 3DS. This is a lazy upscale.

PS5 is the only way to buy physical vidya you own in 2025

Games constantly on sale

Base PS5 costs as much as a Switch 2 and is way more powerful by comparison

Why do we hate them, again?

Then just like with Steam, you will not be legally allowed to play the games you paid for.

Odd Steamies never talk about that.

Hope your joycons don't drift!

they're going the same route. this is inevitable. the good PR for keeping physical isn't a particularly good trade for total control of the consumer & his store.

Good morning, saar.

New ones are Hall effects thank god. Only Sony's shitty Dualshocks drift now.

Source?

He has never heard anyone on Anon Babble call Valve's dickriders steamies

He goes to Reddit

Newfag AND retarded. What a brave new combination.

It's not always online DRM you retard.

PS5 is the only way to buy physical vidya you own in 2025

The Switch 2 has physical games, you retard

SAAR PLEASE DO NOT REDEEM

resell a digital code unlock

This guy is trolling, right?

FPBP

Then why did you buy it if you can’t download it?

So the exact same as download codes. Except in the mean time you can sell/transfer it, which still makes it better.

You smell of curry and shit
Yuck

Hey, nigger, the cartridge isn't a 1 time only key, When you insert it, it prompts you to down the game from the eshop. From there, the key is use to activate the game as it would be for literally any game.

You have a limited window to sell it.

what? like 1 or 2 years?

Hahahahaha, i watched that video too.

With how Nintendo operates, who knows?
inb4 they make you register the cartridge before use

You're going to have to sell it at a significantly lower price than a real physical copy. Also this is just them boiling the frog, next system they are going to do away with physical entirely and this will replace it. Why are you defending blatant anti-consumer practices?

Is there an actual game on the cartridge and can it be played offline?

All first party games so far and most 3rd party games are on the cartridge. Some games were key codes as well on the original switch. This nothingburger is part of a shill narrative to desperately downplay the switch 2 launch.

Is there an actual game on the cartridge

No, you are prompted to download the game from the eshop

and can it be played offline?

Yes, always online DRM is used for a license check. The license check is the cartridge itself, like literally every other console.

And can you do this on multiple Switches, for example you have one copy of Mario Kart, can that be installed on 4 Switches at the same time?

The bad thing isn't just the missing data on the cartridge, it also makes the 10 Euro physical price hike inexcusable. They switched to sd card express because of the read speed, it would at least be plausible to charge more for the cartridge if it's essentially a 16+GB sd card express. But now it's just a 1MB certificate store...

You're going to have to sell it at a significantly lower price than a real physical copy. Also this is just them boiling the frog, next system they are going to do away with physical entirely and this will replace it. Why are you defending blatant anti-consumer practices?

Shut the fuck up steamfag. Nobody is fooled by your bullshit. Actual switch owners and fans know that this is nothing new as a few games from 3rd party devs are keycode only. All nintendo 1st party games are physical, same as the switch 2. Go back to "buying" 100 shovelware games for a "good price" on your 5000$ PC until steam goes down and you lose everything.

It's okay when Nintendo does it.

I swear it's the same retards that make these threads on purpose to spread misinformation, like saying it comes without a dock and you need to buy one.
They explain this on their website too and every time you link it they refuse to read.

Yes, because it's just a keyless install of the game. It's basically what literally every console does right now, where you have just an very small install of the game on the console OS and it will prompt you to insert the CD or cartridge to play the game

I'm not defending it, but it's literally just a more permissive download code. It's what you already had on the Switch, but slightly less shitty. It's not some egregious new evil practice.

The bad thing isn't just the missing data on the cartridge, it also makes the 10 Euro physical price hike inexcusable.

Mario Kart World, as well as all Nintendo-published games, is on the cartridge you gullible moron.

I see. Sounds rather hackable tbqh.

I swear it's the same retards that make these threads on purpose to spread misinformation

They are actual shills paid by sony and valve. The same as the people pretending that a 15% price increase means they can't buy any games.

This only applies to third party games that only gave a case with a download code inside, stop believing random bullshit on Anon Babble and actually look it up before acting like an idiot.

Pointing out Nintendo is fucking consumers over is not spreading misinformation you pathetic fanboy. Stop coming to the defense of the billion dollar corpo that sees you as paypiggies

you don't need a 5090 to outperform a PS5 anon, you're being purposely obtuse and are basically implying that the price of a McLaren is the price of car ownership.

Stop believing others on Anon Babble and believe me instead

I said look it up yourself, glad to see faggots like you actually can't read and just parrot shit.

No, it's not that insidious. It's usually 3rd worlders that can't even afford the console, who can't read, who get their information from other 3rd worlders like that pirate nation guy, who also can't read, misinterpret said info then come here to spam their retardation

This but Sony and the PS5 Pro, the VR2, and the Portal trash.

Pointing out Nintendo is fucking consumers over is not spreading misinformation you pathetic fanboy

By doing what literally every other console maker does?

You need an RTX 4070 for equivalent, so to actually outperform it then yeah probably.

Equivalent to the PS5 Pro anyway.

it's OK when Steam does it

You need an RTX 4070 for equivalent

Lmao, you need a 3060, relax.

For the normal one maybe, but I meant for the Pro.

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now too. I think I'm still going to get physical copies of games I truly love, ones I want to display on my shelf, and then just digital(when it's on sale) for everything else. If the physical cart is going to be useless one day then at least my shelf is a smaller, curated collection of games I genuinely love to look at.

They've been playing your 60 FPS/4K versions of Switch 1 games for 5 years for free lmao.

Holy shit I have never seen such a massive retard that doesn't even do their own research, fuck off.
Physical games are staying the same, it's only affecting lazy 3rd paries that didn't want to actually have a game card for their games.
It's an upgrade to games that only come with a download code and an empty box.

Anon you have to fucking install PS5 games, with Switch and Switch 2 physical games can run from the cart, no need to install the entire game.

Is that why you guys are begging for a Switch 2 emulator non-stop now?

installs from the disc, not from the internet. the only reason is because read speeds of discs are too slow for modern gaming. Switch2 cartridges avoid this by being expensive as fuck, which is why 3rd parties are opting for the significantly cheaper key cards(with internet download) instead.

You are the paid Snoy shill glowie pedophile he's referring about, macaco

installs from the disc, not from the internet

Then you are usually prompted to download a 20GB+ day one update from the internet

I am hoping they add more DLC buttons, and maybe a donate button

Usually, but you can still play the (buggy) game without it.

not required to play.
doesitplay.org/

The cartridge acts as a key to download the game. There is no limit on how many people can use the cartridge to do this, but the cartridge must be in the system to play the game (similar to a physical game). The cartridge can be resold and reused. The only online requirement is during the download. Once the download is done, you do not need to be online to play the game.

The closest equivalent elsewhere would be how PlayStation currently handles non-paid crossgen updates - for example if you own PS4 Cyberpunk physically and run the disc on a PS5, the PS5 will offer to download the PS5 version of the game at no extra cost, which you can play as long as you have the PS4 disc inserted. These Card Keys essentially act that way - the card acts as a physical key to allow you to access a digital version of the game so long as you have the physical key inserted.

nintendo gets away with selling cardboard

gets away with selling a third party attachment just to use voice chat for Splatoon

now gets away with selling a literal empty game box for $90

its an upgrade to "Downloadable key inside" type of games. Shouldnt cost 10 bucks more tho if all of the game has to be downloaded regardless

Does Sony just pick and choose if the prompt for downloading the PS5 version costs money? Or does that only happen if the PS5 version has extra stuff the PS4 version doesn't?

Odd Steamies never talk about that

because it's not true. you only need to sign into steam once within a 30 day period, during which you can open it offline and still have access to the games you have installed.

Switch 2 physical games can run from the cart, no need to install the entire game.

Unconfirmed, and I personally doubt it.

the only companies using this shit are major AAA third parties

smaller AA devs are still releasing their games on regular carts

oh no

anyway

Pay for Switch 2 upgrade for a game you already own just to get access to premium emulation

youtu.be/WVgUe3qSU9k?si=nEH06Y2475lYqTmq
I will not purchase the Switch 2 I will instead wait for Steam Deck 2.0 and pirate Nintardo games on that superior machine.

WaitAminute.png - 2560x1440, 1.81M

No need, Dolphin and current Switch emulators already cover every game that matters other than DK. MP4 will even get the mouse support on PC, imagine paying $450 for Yuzu.

It varies by game, yes, so some cost money and some are free. Typically based on whether they include some sort of new content or not, yeah. However strictly speaking there are some free upgrades that have new content, and some paid ones that are fairly minimal so it's really whatever the games publisher decides.

Shitter, this has been happening since the PS4 and 5.
The fact that you only noticed now and needed a youtube video to tell you means you willingly ignored it.

file.png - 636x906, 212.92K

renting the upgrades is even worse. legitimately the most dangerous and most retarded practice for the industry in ages. they are normalizing locking better fps/fidelity behind a sub service.

you can also pay for it separately!

you used to be able to buy virtual console games separately and now look at nso.

willingly ignored it.

Who pays attention to Sony?

We have a product for you, it's called the Switch 1

trade it in where? gamestop to get 2 bucks for it?

this
as usual Anon Babble is getting outraged over nothing just because it's nintendo doing it

this is already a thing on ps/xb
why are you freaking out now

$10 is more reasonable than $70, plus the $70 Switch 2 "upgrade" is just a resolution bump in an emulator. At least with the $10 TLoU2 upgrade you get a new game mode and some new skins.

It's a bit different when the box is tethered in your living room where you almost always have internet access compared to a handheld that you can actually leave the house with.

At least with the $10 TLoU2 upgrade you get a new game mode and some new skins.

That's a fair point, Nintendo is charging an extra $10 for extra content like with Kirby and Mario Party. So Nintendo wants a $20 upgrade instead of $10.

Not that anon, but just so you're aware, the games with Switch 2 paid upgrades are priced cheaper than buying a full game. BotW and TotK upgrades aren't $70 if you own the original Switch games. Not sure if they've said how much yet though.

The two companies are essentially handling crossgen pretty much identically. Some games get free upgrades (Pokemon Scarlet and Violet / Cyberpunk 2077), some get paid ones (Breath of the Wild / The Last of Us 2), some get nothing at all.

Where is it $20? I've only seen the $70 prices, and I thought those were shop prices for existing owners.

Oh I thought they weren't doing discounts for existing owners, that's still Jewish but not as bad as I thought.

I’ve been buying digital games for years.
Physical takes up too much space. I don’t sell them. The packaging and art of years past has given way to brittle plastic that cracks when you look at it and a paper insert. Most importantly, you have to physically switch out the game. Digital you just play without worrying about that, super convenient. Don’t have to go to the store or wait for it in the mail. And I think it’s ironic that PC gamers and deckfags would even have anything to say about this.

Obviously it's different from just a product code that you enter to redeem for a digital download, but unless you have illusions of selling the game or giving it away to someone else, you're just better off buying it digitally since you won't even have to pay the artifically inflated price of having a physical product.

They said from the beginning that upgrade packs can be bought separately from the switch 2 edition for people who already own the games that get the upgrades.

this so much this
never get rid of anything you buy
hoard hoard HOARD

These aren’t for gaming, they’re for AI. You can use them for gaming but it’s overkill because developers can’t even make a game that takes advantage of a fraction of that power

Those games are $80 because the upgrade costs $20 instead of $10 since they come with a bit of extra content.

With that said it was just one example, they did it with a few other games like Ghost of Tsushima but I'm not sure if it's because having the director's cut on the PS4 means you have to upgrade to the Director's cut on the PS5 which makes it cost more.

file.png - 693x822, 664.82K

This shit pisses me off from an environmentalist perspective. All this plastic slop destined for the landfill.

Don’t have to go to the store or wait for it in the mail. And I think it’s ironic that PC gamers and deckfags would even have anything to say about this.

On PC you can copy files, alter them and move them to other storage devices however you want.

It's like 10 minutes of effort to list a game on eBay/Amazon and then 20 minutes to package and ship it out when it sells. Depending on the game and how soon after launch you sell it, you can get $30-$50 back for a $70 game; which if you're never playing it again is better than letting it just rot on your shelf.

And that nothing was going to cost $80 but after tariffs they are reconsidering raising it.

So you have never used Steam's refund?

Switch 2 right now only has one game too.

"Haha no game".

Anon...

Fippedy bippedy.

Fpbp

At first I thought that weird string of characters under the words "GAME-KEY CARD" was the key, then I realized it's some moon language since I know JUEGO is game in other weird languages. Why do these companies force other languages on us? This never happened in the 80s and 90s
