Nintendo has changed. The question is if it's for the best.
Nintendo has changed. The question is if it's for the best
Who cares, you are a grown ass nigga that does nothing but think about video games. Do something meaningful with your life.
Same games since n64. Same overpriced shit since n64. same retarded faggot fanbase since n64. nintendo hasnt changed. thats the problem.
I don't get the controversy desu.
Games went from 60 and occasionally 70 to 70 and occasionally 80
So it's a 10 dollar jump? I didn't see even half this outrage when Sony did the same thing last gen. The outrage over this feels weird and fake.
They're just following the industry trends sony set years ago
I'm glad for this. I'm buying the switch 2 and botw and totk again :) I'm so excited!
for making money for themselves? sure. for their fans? no
Treat your paying customers like potential pirates
sell a console that is nothing but DRM and Microtransactions.
You know the answer
10 increase is too much
same tards will spend that on a sugar syrup milkshake pretending to be an ice coffee at starbucks every other day
If they changed they would have ended up like Sony and completely abandon what made them big in the video game market.
All those IPs they will dangle in front of you in other games but never make a new game with them.
The golden age is long over, now Nintendo is just trying to survive in this modern age
The question is if it's for the best.
???
How is that even a question. They suck as now compared to 25 years ago.
New 3D Mario is damn near guaranteed to be $80. Same with the new Zelda which MIGHT push the $89.99 price since Zelda seems to be the big marquee franchise now.
You need food to live you don't need videogames to live. It's different
They aren't going to go that far. It took them what two generations to test the waters with totk near the very end of the switch lifecycle. There is literally no way in hell that 80 isn't the standard for at the very very very least, this generation. Especially with all the controversy around the 80 dollar price point as it is. They not gonna come next week and say that Zelda is 90 now
They not gonna come next week and say that Zelda is 90 now
I agree and disagree. I agree that they aren't going to come out and say Zelda is $90 USD now. That's why they're not going to say it until the new, built from the ground up Switch 2 Zelda game that pushes the power of the hardware and "offers many hundreds of hours of replayability" and such is closer to release. That will also be by the time everyone has gotten used to the $80 game so they can "test the waters" again with the $89.99 price. Especially if GTA VI hits the rumored $99.99 base game price.
Suck a dick you tendie cultist. No one is getting used to $80 games.
No they haven't. They've been entirely anti-consumer and greedy since they got into home consoles. See Galoob/Game Genie Lawsuit, forced cartridge deals to fuck over third parties, trying to wreck the rental market in America (succeeding in lobbying to get it outlawed in Japan), C&Ding as many fan games as possible, shutting down Melee tournaments, stealing roms to use on their own shops (Super Mario Bros on the Wii), and attempting artificial scarcity with Amiibos and Mario 3D Collection.
They are as anti consumer as it gets.
Nintendo: "Fuck you, you'll buy it anyways."
Just like people haven't gotten used to the $60 and now $70 game. Right.
I'm not saying that to defend Nintendo. I'm saying that because that's how the "gaming community" has historically been and will continue to be. Make a few "outrage" videos, vow that you won't buy something, then buy it anyway (just after a week instead of day one). I just have very very low confidence that this community will actually decide to not buy this stuff. I'd seriously love to be proven wrong.
I can see this happening too if the switch 2 is allowed to succeed.
Just cook and stop buying corn syrup slop from McDonald
Nintendo hasn't changed. They always overcharged for under-powered tech. They have always been greedy jews.
Nintendo instantly lost their handheld war to PC manufacturers.
You're out of your mind if you think this. The Nintendo Switch brand is so many orders of magnitude stronger than RoG Ally, Steam Deck and whatever Xbox handheld is coming out that all will continue to be viewed as the knock off brands nobody wants. Don't be ridiculous
Not instantly, but slowly. This isn't something Nintendo can win, just like how PC is now dominating consoles despite being garbage for games 10-15 years ago. PC just has none of the limitations consoles do and offer so much more with only a fraction of the cancer consoles have.
They haven't really changed much, the market shifted around them. Their business strategy has remained the same since the tech giants Sony and Microsoft entered the industry in the 90s.
No, it's now blatantly obvious that Nintendo intends to become the new Disney, so that alone should tell you enough.
A good enough PC for games will run you $2000 or maybe $1500 for a "budget" build. Nobody is paying that to play video games and not even be able to play 1st party Nintendo games. Before you say emulation, I'm speaking about the average person, not people like us who hang out on forums and shit for video games.
No, Switch won that war handidly.
PC is now dominating consoles
Not really. They're barely competing markets. Most PC users are non english speaking russians and chinks. These aren't people who were ever going to buy console hardware to begin with.
Millions of people paid $80 just to play Hogwarts Legacy 3 days early. The outrage feels forced
It's just the joycons situation all over again where people legitimaly think only the joycons have drift, griftertubers forcing an outrage for clicks
My PC plays everything and it was 1k. Basically everybody needs a PC too anyway, since they're broadly useful.
They haven't changed. Nintendo's been the same awful they've been since 2009, you just grew up, zoomie.
PC is hitting record numbers constantly while consoles have all been selling a fraction of the units they were pulling two generations ago. Xbox is dead in the water, sony's portables are dead and they can't come remotely close to ps2 numbers, and nintendo's home consoles are dead and the switch still hasn't surpassed the ds.
It's forced because AAA studios wanted to charge $100 per game (check out the interviews from Take Two's CEO about GTA VI) and Nintendo undercut them by $20
Millions of people paid $80 just to play Hogwarts Legacy 3 days early.
Did they, or did you see it selling millions in the first week and assume that most of those were from the $80 version?
Steam Deck got outsold by Vita
Not that anon but I think PC sales are going to come to a crawl soon thanks to ridiculous tariffs & ridiculous GPU prices; we might actually see a temporary resurgence in console popularity & sales until things settle down in 5-10 years.
Controversial opinion
I don't care if it's 80-90 dollars as long as ALL of ANY future DLC is included in the price and I can resell it
they have always been exactly like this. In fact, they were even more greedy when this guy was still leading.
Nintendo hasn't changed, they've been anti-consumer since the NES and have been through their entire existence in the console market. The difference is that you were a child at once point and looked past all the shady shit they did because you either didn't see it or didn't see anything wrong with it.
They're still using the same IPs.
They're still relying on gimicky add-ons
They're still over-charging for their games
They're still making vulnerable hardware prone to breakage
Well that is delusional, but it is worth noting that 8D's DLC was free when playing online so as to not split the user base, as well as being included 'free' with NSO.
It is a bit of a question at this point what post launch support will look like. The game's structure makes it hard to sell piecemeal batches of levels and the plethora of characters and skins for free at launch will make it hard to charge for new skins. My guess is that it will not be monetised, but will instead have a constant trickle of skins and events for NSO to promote that upcharge. Maybe some big expansion in a few years in the middle of the generation with a whole second overworld.
I stopped caring since the GameCube as that's when I realized I barely bothered with their first party titles
All my switch 1 games are physical games I bought on Facebook market place at half or even less price than brand new. I am not going to buy empty boxes or buy licenses so they can just close the servers whenever they feel like
nintendo has changed
no. they're every bit as cutthroat and jewish as they were in the '80s
it's for the best
no
I like taking it up the ass
whataboutism
kill yourself consumerist drone
deflection and whataboutism
you're cancer
They are as anti consumer as it gets.
Nintendo: "Fuck you, you'll buy it anyways."
OY VEYYYYYYYYYYY anti-semite!
Vita
Calm down my man, it barely passed the N-Gage, let's not bring the big guns
doug bowser and shuntaro furukawa are the head of noa and nintendo japan respectively
no surprise nu-nintendo is dogshit
All those IPs they will dangle in front of you in other games but never make a new game with them.
Nintendo doesn't even bother to dangle most of their IPs anymore, they just kill them off and that's that. At most you get a bullshit excuse from Miyamoto about how he "doesn't want to make the same game over and over again" while he's busy making the umpteenth New Super Mario.
yes, the worst of us, famous for selling millions of copies like mario kart 8 deluxe or minecraft or gta
They're still relying on gimmicky add-ons
What's gimmicky about the Switch 2? The optional video camera and the mouse feature that not even they are going to use after this year? Switch 2 is Nintendo's least gimmicky console they've put out since the Super Nintendo and it's exactly what we all wanted. It's a bigger, more powerful Switch console that is strong enough to play current generation games on the go. Please think before you type.
As a company this is their golden age. They have more reach than ever, theme parks, faithful movie adaptions , 3rd party support, stable brand recognition, their brand of characters more open than ever , no long just Mario and the others . It’s always a bad sign in modern times if you had to uproot your brand every generation and create a new identity. That was them for a good 15 years , meanwhile we had confident companies like Sony and Microsoft givingyou new iterations with big improvements, meanwhile
please buy our console it has 64 bits
please buy our console! It’s a cube shape and it’s purple, forget the bits
wait scratch that , buy the new Wii, nothing to do with the failed GameCube, despite having the same tech
fuck actually we are happy with the Wii brand, but let’s remove the family fun aspect and aim it at hardcores
And now
here’s the switch , it’s a hybrid
here’s the switch 2, it’s hybrid with more improvements
People just can’t seem to let go of this wacky image Nintendo had, but fail to see this bizarre behaviour was because they failed and had to start from scratch each time to get new audience invested. This tinted interpretation that Nintendo has always been confident in their strange tactics in the industry is false.
Both the ds and Wii weren’t even there next generation initially . They kept the gameboy brand alive for 3 years until they felt safe to invest in the ds , again with the Wii , which was essentially a souped up GameCube
mini meltie?
Man, these threads are getting ridiculous. You guys said the same shit about Nintendo with the Wii.
