the most cyberpunk location
why is there no video games where you roam the walled city? and I want a game with the FULL city, not only a part of it
the most cyberpunk location
why is there no video games where you roam the walled city? and I want a game with the FULL city, not only a part of it
what do they eat?
dogs
Shadowrun Hong kong is the closest
It wasn't that big. About the size of two city blocks.
Indiacore is not "cyberpunk".
it was the size of 3 football terrain
Yeah so what I said then
kowloon is 100% cyberpunk, don't try to change that
There are games.
They should have kept it as some cultural oddity to attract tourism.
expecting devs to design a game with a map where you can enter every room
No neons, no hot punkettes, no "cyber" tech, only the stench of gutter oil, fermented poo, humidity and the sight of ugly chinkoids and dangling electric cables.
And Another one worth mentioning
store.steampowered.com
Kowloon walled city game, with fully destructible terrain. The psycho ending has you destroying enough primary support pillars that the entire city collapses.
what the fuck were they thinking?
probably something like this
ching chiong pling plong
They probably thought "wow this looks like shit and there's a lot of crime happening here let's try to improve our city"
No, idiot. Even if they had just taken enough off the top to stop having to divert air traffic around it to land at the local airport the place was still an unsanitary, crime ridden shithole and if they had kept any part of it people would have continued trying to live there and build onto it. It was all or nothing.
That it was only a matter of time before it caught fire and killed everyone
That would go against the "everything is fine! nothing to see here" agenda.
The first major part of Guild Wars Faction is nothing but Kowloons everywhere with poverty, gangs, and zombies all over the place. Also a reminder that Guild Wars 1 is on sale.
Wasn't it the British who tore it down?
I went to HK like 5 weeks ago and the hk chinks were some of the nicest dudes I have ever interacted with.
They dont have this fake pretend niceness about them like murricans but they are nice people ready to help and shoot the shit
It wouldn't actually be a good game level.
where you can enter every room
that's the spirit
this one single photo
I saw this picture in the magazines in the 00's Was this place even real? I mean, it's just a picture that looks suspiciously like a 3D render or art
pretty sure it was after since the walled city only existed because it was a small chinese fortress surrounded by hong kong and the brits were concerned of angering chinks when they went in it to arrest changs with drugs
they were probably thinking it would be awful WHEN the entire thing collapsed and killed like 1 million people
I know that place was probably dangerous as fuck, but I would liked to have visited it just once just to see it. Its very impressive regardless. Shame theres no chance to now, and I don't know of any other place on earth thats even remotely similar.
why?
There are many others photos of the city. don't be the retarded guy who has to doubt everything
Yup... and in those two blocks more than 33,000 people lived. Could have been as high as 50,000.
Per square kilometer it would translate to a density (assuming a square kilometer of only THIS) of 1.3 to 3.2 million people.
It's the most densest populated place in human history and pretty much a huge inspiration for dystopian cities which borrow HEAVILY from it.
How could this map be fun everything is close together theres no 50 min jog to pad game time
They dont have this fake pretend niceness about them like murricans
That's, like, most of the world then
I mean, I'm not saying it's necessarily better in some cases, but indians killing you for watches would be pretty sincere and genuine, I'm sure
There wasn't even close to that number of people living there. Like 50k tops.
here's the paths inside the city
that's the case for most of the tourist spots in asia if you're white cause they expect you to have money by default (could be a good or bad thing)
HK is pretty well off. Unless he's hanging around in some slummy area they're not normally like that
Shenmue 2
I finished the first one a few weeks ago. Is 2 a worthy sequel?
HK was the one place in China I would have really liked to visit before the mainland decided to put the boot down. I'm sure its still enjoyable for tourism, but eh... I'll just go to Taiwan if I ever want to experience something Chinese these days.
nah HK is still nice, my parents live there in peace. the summers are fucking brutal though.
Ye I was surprised how well off the average hk chink is, I guess when you dont need to save up for a house(never gonna own one) or a car(never gonna need one) and you dont need to cook(eating out is cheaper) you have alot of disposable income
Here's a better Walled City.
Yeah I mean I'm sure life there isn't bad still, but I just don't like the idea of being watched by the CCP a majority of the time. I'm sure for a tourist like me, I wouldn't even notice the difference before and after the HK riots, but its the principal I suppose.
Obviously if I got the chance for a good time with friends or for a low price I'd probably still take it. But if I was planning things myself, I'd probably choose Taiwan these days.
It's not cyber or punk you fat retard
It's just cramped
I went through the HK riots and let me tell you they deserve getting fucked over. Genuine fucking retards. Literal チー牛 collective.
yes it is
serves as a monument for future archologies to perform even more gruesome social experiments in for a fraction of the cost compared to your typical shit tier walkable city
is actually set in Egypt
But the name checks, so here you go.
youtu.be
I don't know what that means.
I just don't like the CCP.
this game looks fun its in my wishlist
I just don't like the CCP.
i dont like them either but they are doing pretty good for the chinses atm
Great! It's a bit clunky for me, but I hope you'll have fun.
I remember Black Ops 1 or 2 had a level take place in Kowloon, it was actually pretty well made if not extremely short. One of the only levels in any call of duty game that isn't just "walk down the street and shoot everyone" or "be on rails and shoot everyone"
Never understood why they don’t just release it as an offline game, maybe with coop.
Absolutely! It’s just as good as the first and even better in some ways.
There's not much CCP in HK, anon. You are genuinely under American propaganda.
its also a online map
youtu.be
I think I've seen some indie game recently
It was clearly inspired by Kowloon and it was literally something something tranny related. Not gonna bother looking it up
it was considered at risk of collapsing, the whole complex wasn't particular safe even outside of criminal activity.
In fact both Taiwan and HK hate them, when I was in Taipei all of their major tourists attractions have huge billboard type signs talking about illegal child labor and organ harvesting in China under the CCP
Kinda based
I think a game like Sifu or some other linear martial-arts game could benefit.
Think Mirror's Edge combined with Zeno Clash.
Even mainland Chinese will mention the organ harvesting. It was a huge thing on their social media a few years ago not sure if it still is.
Sovlfvl no man's land derelict
Sovless dystopian fake and plastic "civilization"
Does Slitterhead take place in Kowloon or is it more general Hong Kong?
They might've been the second one with the predator camo where you had to save discount Big Boss from getting irradiated at a nuclear launch site. It was also the same game where you could bolt a mini flamerthrower and a shotgun underbarrel on an SLR and AK.
it was also a den of crimes and drugs. Legal bullshittery meant that neither China nor Britain could actually administer it so it became just a lawless
The beat up wafers at the bottom of the bag
So was it some chinks drugging you while you are out partying and taking your organs or full on kidnap and murder?
Who are they selling to?
because it wouldn't be fun for 99% of the game having your screen completely covered in no-name NPCs.
And then randomly you just stop moving and it's revealed you got stabbed and died.
it was mafia center
HK hates them but they also hate shitty protests too. My hatred of protests come from the HK riots too. Imagine spending months and months blocking traffic, inconveniencing the average people, and then fucking it all up because you got a bit too greedy. Also before the riots pic related チー牛 was enrolled in the worst university in the country so no one likes this faggot.
Then what was the point of the riots?
This is a genuine question.
sketchfab.com
if you want to see it in 3D
I had heard it was mainly political prisoners like people from Falun Gong but this Chinese guy I used to work with said it was happening to basically everybody and that it was organized crime that was driving most of it.
shithole
shithole, East Asia
Also a reminder that Guild Wars 1 is on sale.
can you play it completely solo as a singleplayer experience?
Was to prevent China from extraditing political fugitives to prosecute them I think. Either way it was a waste of time and waste of effort.
"city"
it's like 2x2 blocks max inside an actual city
Are we sure about the density record though? There's that one rat's nest of an island where the locals all untangle themselves every morning to cross the short bit of water to reach the hotels where they work.
From the OP image I'm pretty sure those were used as construction material rather than food.
nice
too bad there's isn't a kowloon map in neotokyoº /(T_T) and no one is making a map to add it as a mod
33k chinks locked in a single location
imagine if the whole thing went up in smoke or collapsed because this is china after all
Probably didn't want the headache that would follow after that. Still it was about the closest humanity got to making a proto hivecity on a budget with just as much pain and misery involved. Pod living and bug munching are a bunch of memes. Kowloon City was a brief glimpse into something far worse when applied at scale with the appropriate amount of efficiency to accommodate it. Luckily most people aren't that autistic so you are stuck with incompetent city councils and money grubbing contractors whose level of quality standards aren't high enough to warrant that level of concern. If you feel that world is becoming too much of a concrete hellscape you can always just fuck off to the steppe or Siberia since no nation state would be actually willing to cover their entire landmasses let alone the entire planet in nothing but asphalt and shit. They can barely handle what they have now.
Who are they selling to?
Anyone that is trying to supersede the long arm of Death. Ancient Chinese history is filled with all kinds of ways to attain immortality via mercury, ground tiger penis, cultivation or sucking on rocks. The nobility were the worst offenders because they had the most to lose once that reset kicks in. Any method to postpone the inevitable will be taken with gutso.
Yes. You can look it up for more info if you want, but you can add NPCs to your group that get the job done, and there are also customizable NPCs (Heroes) that you gear up and build with the skills you want and you can micromanage them quite a lot.
You'll eventually want to get the heroes if you want to tackle harder content, but don't worry too much, you get them as part of the main story in Nightfall and Eye of the North. Some guides recommend sequence breaking to rush to get the best heroes as soon as possible, but it can be a bit immersion breaking. If you want to have an easier life start a character in Nightfall, but it's not a hard requirement at all.
tear down cheap housing for poor people to build a park for rich people
call it progress
a battle royal warzone like inside kowloon city, would you play it?
What said. If you want to start with an asian theme character that use Asian exclusive profession, then do that. Faction allows you to get heroes as soon as you hit the mainland and taking the quest to start Eye of the North. It turns into a party/squadron RPG near the mid/end game part and is 00 WRPG hard if you dont know how to lure groups of patroling enemies, counter, and crowd control
Streets of Rogue is the closet approximation if you consider pixelshit as a viable genre. You start on the lower levels and work your way up. The law only applies if the cops see you otherwise it's open season right up until you hit the 4th floor. Then they start clamping down hard on you.
tl;dr first: Yep, you get NPCs you can slot in your party and the more advanced types will let you solo any content.
Yes, in fact. I only started playing last year, and have done most everything by myself. While you can find people that will help you still, the game throws John Swordsman NPC party members you can pick from into every safe location. They're a bit limited though, not always having the best armor and their skills are locked basic shit. Beyond those, you can eventually recruit heroes which are more important NPCs. They're way stronger and you get to configure them to your liking. You can't change their main class(only secondary class), but you still get to alter the skills they use on it. Then finally there are player heroes, where you pick any of your other characters on your account and attach them to your current character as a hero. You have to buy slots for them as an MTX, but they're 100% customizable.
The basic heroes will allow you to do basically anything, but some of the more advanced 8-man parties will require more specific primary-classed characters than is possible to recruit, meaning you'll have to buy a character hero slot or two for full min-maxing.
should i buy the complete collection on the arena net website then
Get the one in the site, don't bother with the steam. This version is the best version that comes with the Bonus Mission Pack, which was usually not bundled in the past.
In fact both Taiwan and HK hate them
only Taiwan does, because they are literally the US's last lapdogs in the region, even Japan and SK are warming up to China, but the Taiwanese are exacly as brainwahsed about China as westoids are, believing all the same retarded fake shit like social credit score and slave labor while gleefully participating in genocidal westoid terrorist attacks
okay thanks
im expecting peak early 2000 jankino
they don't want to be with china
Every single person I talked to in HK mentioned to me how they are using child slaves in Shenzen and how celebrities like Jackie Chan are NOT Chinese but HongKongese, I am pretty sure they still hate the chinks
I never played GW back in the day, because I played FF11, but I was always in love with the design of the blind fold character / class. Left a surprising impact on me, despite never having played the game.
Same shit as everywhere else. It wasn't a prison. People and things moved in and out.
There is (or was, idk if it still exists) a japanese arcade themed after it. Might be the closest thing to visiting it
tokyocheapo.com
Yeah, that is a Ritualist, which is exclusive to Faction only. They're pretty much top tier healers and DPS. DPS as in summoning spirit turrets that counts as an extra body and damage.
ff11
I'd like to play this game one day but don't know you need friends, can you tell me whats your best moment in the game?
why is there no video games where you roam the walled city?
Shadowrun: Hong Kong
depending on how much vertical traversal you expect to do and if you're willing to play *shudder* a 20 year old dead mmo
they dismantle it, it doesn't exist anymore
That Arcade is gone unfortunately.
literally Shadowrun Hong Kong
There are multiple
thank you
what would that amount to other than nerfing the shit out of everything? You can still play solo or with friends on the server.
If you mean completely change everything to where you don't need a party full of bots that would never happen.
If someone is interested, this is the best documentary with actual footage from inside.
youtube.com
It's in german, because it was shot by an austrian film crew, but has subtitles in english.
Stray is pretty good at offering the vibe.
yes, because they are brainwashed propagandized morons just like all the ""liberal free speech advocate westerners are"", aka the imperialsit genocidal fucks invading, stealing from and exploiting just about every country they can get away with, but it's okay because they love gays and tolerate their own minorities that are only there because they a.) enslaved them previosuly, or b.) they bombed or propped up terrorists in their country to overthrow the government that didn't let them steal their resources
literally nothing would change if Taiwan reunited with china, they could keep the exact same way of life, just like HK did. China is a far more rapidly developing and a far more moral country than US or the entire moral shithole of the declining western empire, there is no fucking reason with sticking to that region anymore. The only thing that would change is that there would no longer be tension in the region as there would no longer be a glorified US military fortress right next to mainland.
Every single person I talked to
I believe that part anon. Because you didn't talk to jackshit, and all that 0 person told you that shit.
you retarded fucks need to stop lying about China so fucking hard, it's the whole reason you are in the mess you are currently are, because at a ceratin point you start believing your own circlejerking lies and get a completely wrong image about your "rival", then you do stupid decisions based on your headcanon instead of reality
obsessed
I believe that part anon. Because you didn't talk to jackshit, and all that 0 person told you that shit.
Sure buddy, you the guy who never been outside of his basement knows more than me, the guy who was there
i hated living in apartments so I have to tell myself i'm totally wrong for thinking I'd like living there. but it seems cozy for some reason.
Yes, it's the best deal. You'll be buying add-on stuff through there as well, so might as well get used to using it. Now, here's something important to note that isn't explained at all. Because of the account integration they did when GW2 came out, you're going to have to make an account there on the site to make purchases. However, if you try to log in to that account to enter the product keys you buy, it won't work(it's only for GW2 stuff, as it happens). What you have to do is launch the game, and input your keys through the game client. You'll also be making your GW1 account via the client when you do this, it's not the same as the site's account/login.
Another thing to note, you might try to launch the client and have it just instantly close. This is because it's trying to hook a shitty old Windows game manager thing that MS abandoned long ago. The launch will start both that and the game client, but the client will hang because it was waiting for the manager which hadn't fired off yet(this worked fine under XP, but later Windows fucked things up). All you have to do is open the task manager and close the current GW process, then restart it. It'll see the manager running and start right up. There's also a registry edit you can make to kill the manager so you never have the issue, but I've been too lazy to ever try it.
this is just Kamurocho
aren't you putting china on a pedestal, are you?
This feels like a good location for a weird dungeon crawler, like Strange Journey or something.
I would make Kowloon Walled City: Detroit
Great game though definitely was made better by the time in which it was at its peak. It was early internet, and a Japanese MMO, so it had a weird culture around it. Everyone kind of "half" roleplayed more or less. Greeting with waves or bows, not really going full RP mode obviously. People would shoot the shit about their real lives and such, but having a slight "in character" persona wasn't entirely uncommon.
There were so many genuinely unknown things about the world, and it was in a time where every game didn't have a wiki for anyone to immediately look up everything they needed to know.
"Face west on Firesday when crafting to ensure better results!" Does this have any actual impact? No one knew for years, but did it anyway just to be safe.
It had a good sense of community too. Felt like people would sometimes get a name for themselves on servers, for better or worse.
Its hard to pinpoint and exact memory for me, as its kind of all encompassing. Makes me feel like I have a shitty memory honestly. though I do remember beating Shiva solo to unlock her as a summon, and setting a record for the server in time clear. Made me feel pretty awesome though I did not realize that record reset every update at the time.
I do think FFXI is the embodiment of inconvenience forming bonds in MMORPGs. So many things are streamlined in them these days that they are basically glorified matchmaking lobbies. Before inconvenience used to force people to form bonds/communities to accomplish goals, and that made things pretty special. I know it can be hard to find a good balance of Quality of life / convenience with difficulty / inconvenience that still manages to be fun, but I think too many modern MMOs forgo anything that might stand in a players way to their detriment.
Anyway, you can still play FFXI to an extent. AI party members/fast leveling and stuff can allow you to play the story at least. I've considered doing a full story run recently myself.
Instead of forest and cave walls, you have tons and tons of shitty shanty towns build on the walls while the entire few maps are mazes. Combine with annoying gangs and zombies roaming around, it makes the place feel so dreadful and makes visiting the Jade Ocean/Petrified Forest a lot more welcoming.
Are there any good Three Kingdoms games out there. Preferably not Total War ones.
Old Hong Kong was cyberpunk. Kowloon was just a dystopia, there was no tech there, therefore no cyberpunk. It was just a filthy shithole. Cool to think about though.
wasn't the recent game slitterhead about this place?
why are you preferring the country that haven't dropped a single bomb in nearly 50 years, nor did it overtrhow/coup anyone, nor did it block food and medicine or impoverish others, Vs the others who have been invading and overthrew dozens, assassinated leaders, including democratically elected ones, propped up terrorist movements, sanctioned dozens into poverty, blocked food and medicine from tens of millions, and are currently participating in a literal fucking genocide, and all this shit coming right after a century of reckless colonialization killing hundreds of millions and stealing trillions from others, but they you can ignore this last part because they said they are sawry, and they are totally not doing this same shit under the veil to this day
but it's all okay because china totally does things evil like social credit score, and debt trap strategy, our moral countries' medias told us it's real. Please don't actually talk with any chinese poeple in mainland, all 1.4 billion of them are lying
you have no fucking idea how propagandized you are anon
I literally have a college whose father was sent to a death camp in china never to be seen again lmao
fuck off bot
more like "hey we own some real estate near by that will at least quadruple in value once we put a park there", get fucking real mate
child labor in shenzhen
LMAO. All the hong kongers have been going to Shenzhen for jobs since HK is such an unaffordable shithole and its been that way long before the ccp.
The rats must have loved the walled city.
HongKong people working in Shenzhen would only substantiate their claims of knowing about child labor in Shenzhen and not detract from it retard
Yeah, cause they're willingly working there retard. THEY are the "child laborers" who left HK
death camp
not even western propaganda pretends that this was ever a thing in china anon (well, outside of KMT shit). The closest thing is them pretending that there are "concentration camps" for uyghurs, but even there they are claiming it's more of a "cultural genocide"(and even that's bullshit) rather than actual killing of people
even the cultural revolution happened over half a century ago, so I'm calling you a liar on that little story of yours
currently, china has over 6 times less prisoners per capita than the land of the free US has
The Utulek Complex in Deus Ex MD is directly inspired by Kowloon City
currently, china has over 6 times less prisoners per capita than the land of the free US has
now thats a statistic only a fucking chink paid shill would know
it is
I see thank you I saved your video
damn I wish I could play with you (but it won't happen) good bye 11anony :'3
he may be leftoid, but he's right about you slurping propaganda like a good boy
propaganda
you niggers are the ones throwing around statistic by the FUCKING CCP as gospel
western governments and news? all propaganda
chink government and news? ALL TRUE GOYIM!!!!
fuck off nigger, we all know you are paid shills and bots from the leak just stop
stop quoting voices in your head and go do your homework
to be honest I'd rather live in China than the US at this point.
The smell must have been revolting. I'd probably be smoking all day as well.
after reading your post, I wonder if people smoke because others stink too much
