Hot Pursuit is still one of the best arcade racers. I started replaying it again and I'm amazed how well it's aged.
I've tried playing them. they seem too bland for me, yeah pro street was kinda crap but at least it had style.
Try Carbon Own the City on the PSP, it's a fun spin off

The mode where it's just racers is piss easy but Hot Pursuit mode is sometimes an absolute nightmare because of this

tried playing kirby air ride and boy does it feel janky. I only played the city mode when I was younger, the actual race mode is strange with the glides and copy abilities. I have to play it a couple more times to see if it clicks

City Trial with friends is the entire reason to play the game. The actual race modes are an afterthought and the game is boring as shit playing alone/against bots.

Carbon felt like a half-measure.
Most Wanted was simplified in quite a few ways over Underground 2 but I think it benefited from that. Carbon saw MW's simplicity and tried to deepen it but its ideas didn't feel very complete so it's a bunch of things that don't add much to the racing experience.

Honestly I never really liked that you HAD to do Pimp My Ride shit to progress in the Underground games. I know that was part of the culture the games are representing, but you end up making these ridiculous clown cars when some cars look beautiful with something as simple as a basic body kit or a nice paint job. Instead you have to slap pictures of ninjas and flashy lights on them.
More of a party game than a racer, same way Smash is more of a party game than a fighting game, no matter how smelly the Melee players are.
If it heats up that badly it likely needs dusted and new thermal paste

NFS Porsche Unleashed soundtrack is the most repulsive faggot electronic crap possible and completely ruins the atmosphere of the game, especially the historic era, which it doesn't fit at all. I always turned all music in that game off. If you only played with the music on, I heavily recommend playing without it. The game immediately becomes absolutely zen-level comfy.
Why does EA not release remasters of the old NFS games? They would probably sell better than any of their new stuff.
