The light of the Dragonfires has faded. The world is doomed. What hope was left, now lost. The 4090 with .ini tweaks still wasn't enough to close shut the jaws of Oblivion.

My 6950XT runs it at like 80fps native res and software Lumen RT, the problem is that the frame times are all over the place in the open world, and lumen causes a bunch of ghosting. On top of that you are stuck choosing between jaggies and sub-pixel shimmer or blurry temporal AA with even more ghosting.

The ghosting is especially bad when there's a foreground object with foliage in the background, which is like 99% of the game when you're not in a city or oblivion gate.

I'm about to try the Oblivion remaster. Medium settings, dlss quality and a 30fps cap seems to be the ideal. That's about how well it played on my 7800gtx back in the day.

I have a 7900XTX and i don't get this if using TSR or XESS, i did tweak TSR with the console though but the default was way better already than FSR or TAA.

Physx 32bit was fully open sourced recently. We just need someone who gives a shit to make a platform-agnostic wrapper.

It's worse with FSR on, but FSR is the only option that doesn't make the game look like my character is myopic. XeSS is so blurry I don't know why devs even bother to include it.

It's kind of weird because I can play Abiotic Factor which uses UE5 with both Lumen and TSR on and everything looks very crisp with no noticeable ghosting. Lumen shadows are still wonky sometimes when moving between areas but it's not bad.

Even with all the temporal stuff turned off I notice the first person animations seem to be very choppy. Either they didn't update them or made new animations at 30fps.
Like if you look at webm related frame by frame you can see several frames mid-swing where the raindrops fall but the sword doesn't move at all. As a result, I believe the temporal upscaling/antialiasing/framegen doesn't have enough frames to work as it is supposed to, which causes terrible ghosting.
