Is this game worth it?

Maybe

Best gunlance gameplay in the entire franchise

Is gunlance even fun? Shooting doesn't have the same impact as melee and gunlance doesn't seem to have sauce when it comes to melee.

If you’re only ever going to play one Monster Hunter, I would not recommend this one be it. If you’re impatient I’d recommend World, if you’re willing to learn and take time with a game I’d say 3U.
If you already like Monster Hunter, yeah, you might as well play it. I think there’s something to like about all of them, but I definitely have my favorites.

oldgen gunlance is janky as fuck but nu gunlance has cool shit going for it nowadays

the base game is hog shit, sunbreak is just ok

best version of lance you will ever play risebreak is stacked top 3 mh game made if you care about gameplay and nothing else

Nah. It really does feel like a handheld game.

The care and detail that made other games feel like real, living ecosystems just didn't make it into this title.

better than wilds

Nigga please, MonHun has been going more and more "portable" since Dos.

No
Worst in the franchise
Play dauntless instead

You can literally fly and air combo in rise

It’s shit. I played for about 20 hours before realizing everything that made monster hunter monster hunter was butchered and removed in the name of muhQOL. If you wanna play monster hunter emulate 3U or 4U or even GU. Those games have actual soul, life, and weight to them. Rise removed every single last rpg mechanic and turned the game into

accet quest

ride mount to monster icon

kill in 10 min

repeat

All loot and mats are handed to you with zero effort. It a perfect encapsulation of everything wrong with modern gaming

kys

fuck no
wyrmstake got raped to the ground, if you're not using the alternative you're losing lots of damage.
and the end-game is just spaming reverse blast dash into slam and swapping scrolls for full reload
the only good thing rise GL did good is blast dash.

oh and bullet barrage can be fun, but its so spameable it isnt

It’s the least bad MH game created after Gens. But really you’re better off playing the old stuff before the series tried for AAA western normalfag slop

If you can only play one MH game, make it 4U, 3U, p3rd, or FU based on whochever one looks best to you.
4U is probably the one that shows its age the least and its my all time favorite game, but it’s locked to the 3DS which is apparently a huge turnoff (I had no idea how few people actually owned the console until discussing this game online).
3U has peak atmosphere, but it also has a fuck ton of weird little glitches and oddities and water combat is pretty “love it or hate it”
FU and p3rd are considered by older fans to be a more “pure” experience since theres no unique gimmicks or verticality going on like later games. FU can be daunting at first because of hitboxes and the grind being more pronounced earlier than other games

GU has the most content but for that very reason ist has a very rough onboarding experience in general, let alone for new players.
Dos and Gen 1 are a meme perpetuated by discord trannies who hate the later classic era games more than gen 5

an overcorrection to the problems you're championing.

Gu and rise killed monster hunter

Rise played so tight and clean, now everything else just feels slow and clunky. Even the menuing felt lightning fast compared to Wilds.

Main team thinks that menus are supposed to be difficult while the gameplay gets more and more simplistic while it should be the reverse, it’s fucking bizarre

That's not much.

I buyed MH World what am I in for?

Depends, is it your first MH?

I played portable one for 30 mins and liked it

If you mean Rise then expect a slower game with less (but arguably more varied) endgame and less monsters but more story.

Meant 3rd HD ver. on emulator btw. Is story any good? Would you recommend over Rise?

yeah I hate how world and wilds you jave to wsit for menu animations to finish before doing anything, why the fuck does a menu have animation wait time?

good
wyrmstake was a fucking mistake and the alternative is just a bootleg AA flare from GU (by far the best GL HA in the game)

yea no reason to play other MH games when they exist

The story is passable, it doesn't get in your face and isn't as retarded as Wilds', but it's definitely a pain in the ass if you're playing multiplayer/co-op because every player has to watch the cutscene individually before they can join another player's game. I don't play MonHun for the story though.

I'd recommend World over Rise as a beginner MH for sure. Rise is a lot better in some aspects (faster hunts are better for portable gaming or getting a quick hunt or two when possible, a LOT more content, switch skills, story stays out of the way of gameplay), that said World tutorializes a lot better and is less complicated in terms of builds and palico management and has a few different endgame activities that don't require griding for 300 levels.

Thanks for the answer I thought Rise's style better though very colorful and visually nice to look at it

Holy shit MHWilds playerbase has absolutely tanked. What happened?

Makes it more readable too, plus the level design is entirely flat surfaces.
World has a lot of slopes and small ledges to climb and is visually very fuzzy which makes it hard to see shit sometimes; it's only really an issue when gathering though.

Playing GU rn on Ryujinx and just noticed MH games are kinda boring when you don't play with someone else.

It plays faster than world and the pace is noticeably different. Other than that it's still monster hunter at its core.
Just be sure to get sunbreak and not just the base game

The menus are instant and basically muscle memory after a while, the load times are practically instant, the endgame arena drops you straight into a square with the monster when you leave camp.
The hub is compact and arranged logically. Quest childwife is right in the middle of everything. Left from child is the shop/smith, right from child is food opposite of child is research nigga, all a wirebug away. A box on each end, and another pet station directly next to food. They even have the courtesy to include your village sisterwives right next to the food box. The only thing a little out of the way is the palico station cat.
I never want to leave Elgado. It's the perfect setup for the stage of the game where you log on and go straight to grindan

Yeah, you need to play something while they chip away at Wilds

pretty much even playing with random players make the game experience 10x better

Solo? Yes. Online is dead.

Tourists left for the new flavor of the month. It's still higher than any other MH game.
