Now that the dust has settled

What the fuck was the problem with Wii? How would you have salvaged it or was it beyond salvation from the start?

Is Wii Retro Gaming?

It was kino

It had homebrew and hacking. It was fine.

It was too fucking weak, poor third party support is one thing but being completely out of the loop because you're too weak is another, bigger, problem

I'd say it was beyond salvation but of course Nintendo didn't care because they still had hundreds of millions of sales, so what they learned from that was "people will pay for dogshit if it's Nintendo-branded" and that has been their mentality since.

Nothing. It was great. My ps3 collected dust while I was playing games on the Wii with friends.

It succeeded by appealing to casuals and non-gamers, what is there to fix
It was also the last time genuinely tried something new and interesting

No it isn't kino and waggle gimmicks suck

Too weak to play anything meaningful just like the switch. But the switch could port games from 2 generations because nintendo missed 3rd party for that long

In retrospect, it was overhated.

But it should have launched with Motionplus and made way more games compatible with Classic/GC controllers, although that's on the devs.
A Wavebird or Classic styled Controller with some sort of Motion Support would have been interesting.

I would love it if Nintendo took another crack at a motion controlled console now that we had 20 years of tech advancements. The Wii was like 80% of the way there for games like first person shooters.

The only caveat would be I would launch it with a traditional controller as well because not every game worked well with motion controls.

1. Primitive motion controls, base Wii remote should have gyro, like the one in Wii Motion Plus.
2. Not enough buttons on Wiimote

It's not a gimmick. It's faster and more precise than a joystick

It is not a gimmick

ok then what's the new wii mote in ps5

Delay it to 2008
Make it as powerful as a Wii U (already on the same level as a PS3) with HDMI port
Delay Twilight Princess to 2008 as well to make it even bigger and better looking as a launch title
Keep literally EVERYTHING else exactly the same, Wii Sports pack in Wii Remote design everything

Wii was a great system. Snoys never got over it.

Ps5 has motion controls

The games it had weren't great and the controller sucked ass. Sure wii sports was fun with friends but the enjoyment with the controls started and ended there. I think nintendo can be judged by the zelda they release during each generation and skyward sword fucking sucked.

do all that bullshit

go from one of the best selling consoles to a wii u flop

Would this console have sold more or less if they made it a green boy?

SS better than totk though

Which never worked the same as your shitty wii controls, thanks for trying

Some sane quality control for what can release on the console would have been helped its reputation in the long run and help it keep relevancy. Once everyone got their fill of Wii Sports and Mario Kart the thing was just a shovelware disaster.

It's been almost 20 years and its influence is still felt. Why would it be the same

BUT BUT BUT

I will close this tab and lñeave you alone to your stupidity.

redesign the wiimote, have them both be nunchucks, more buttons that mimick normal controllers, have them both have IR aiming and have more adventure games that have you interacting with objects like in vr
basically vr without the headset

I feel like, despite what you think of the Wii, it sold 20 million units more than the 360 and PS3. It sold, and it sold well.

lñeave

Dont make me call ice on you spic

Pretty much this. Once the initial novelty wore off, it felt like 80% of new releases were $20 minigame collections from studios nobody had ever heard of. Smart curation and pushing for higher quality third-party support would've made the Wii's later years a lot stronger.

Millions of flied can't be wrong

Weird how it sold 5 times as much as Gamecube when GC had better library and had decent multiplats

I find it hilarous that zoomers will bend over backwards to claim this and the DS were full of gems and then they can only name games that are a 7 at best, games above a 7 on the wii can be counted on one hand, the DS library is better but not by much, they're both shovelware machines

Kek this

Ease of piracy helped

Needed greater market penetration in JP, so we could have gotten more JP games.
Its obvious that the JP lineup generally IS better, and so is their games.

Wii peaked both at the very beggining (I still remember those holidays playing Wii Sports with the family, and Twilight Princess on my own) and at the end (already hacked, many multiplayer games available for casual matches with friends etc),

People didn't buy the GameCube when it was the strongest console in the generation so why bother trying

Xbox was the strongest though
And wasn't limited by small discs

would of helped had 90% of the games forced waggle controls. Why must I flick the mote to spin in Galaxy? Couldn't I assign it to a button? Nope, this is how Nintendo wanted you to play it and thus you will. Because galaxy uses motion control you cant play it with a classic controller

hey, an image with my favorite game!
