When you use AI you get indian quality. Nobody is okay with Indian quality art, hence the gta remasters bombing, but people settled for Indian coding a long time ago.

Coding is easy and as someone who works in the industry, it's whatever works while still being efficient.
Art is much harder than coding and often lends an identity to your game, and is easily identifiable.

I predict that this is ironically going to start happening a lot more the more advanced AI gets.

Right now it's at a stage where it can generate you some shitty code for something basic, but you still have to clean it up yourself. You can't just generate a whole app or game with it.

But when it gets to the stage where it can do that, it's gonna be mayhem. Games will be launching with bugs the devs have zero idea how to fix because they never even looked at the code. Not to mention there'll be 1 million shovelware games uploaded to Steam per day by random retards who just went to ChatGPT and told it "make me a game like X or Y".

Programmers are generally open to sharing code. Almost all code is built on the work of other coders. This is why open source is so prevalent among programming. Few programmers feel overly possessive about their own code and are generally happy when their code is shared and reused. AI embodies all of these ideals which is why programmers have embraced AI.

Artist are the complete opposite. Artist are very possessive about their work. They are very hostile to the idea of sharing or reusing their work unless they are getting paid royalties for each time it's used. Reusing someone else's artwork and building on top of it is heavily looked down upon and is considered plagiarism, even when one has permission to do so. AI stands against everything artists believe in.

Because programming is just boring office work. Art is a craft, of course people care about it more.

There might be some small, tiny minority of eccentrics who think programming some shitty app is an "artform", but they're few and far between. For 99.9% of programmers it's just paying the bills.
