I'd like it if class/unit customisation was much more restricted than it has been in recent games. Something closer to how FE8 does things, at most. I prefer FE when I'm given a list of defined tools and told to solve a problem with them, the RPG customisation gets in the way of that a bit.

What IS doesn't get, is that most of Houses had characters and story that were born as a result of the setting and lore. With Engage, the setting was just an afterthought for the story and characters, which is why the kingdoms are arranged in a nice donut shape.
It might not make total sense, but that's what it felt to me. Same thing happened with Fates. Where it's like "LOL WHAT IF TWO KINGDOMS, JAPAN VS EUROPE", and that's as far as they went with it.
