Bitching about the direction Fire Emblem took with Awakening is fucking retarded and illogical. You didn't lose the franchise. It just means you get to experience the timeline where Awakening failed and the series was canceled, which is what would have happened if it continued to appeal to your tastes. You didn't miss out on any new games. There is no world where old Fire Emblem continued. They either changed direction so bad you don't play it anymore or the series dies and you don't play it anymore.

Absolutely. EDF is the ultimate example of a series that knows exactly what it is and leans into it hard. Janky as hell, ridiculously fun, and somehow more charming because of it. Nothing beats screaming "EDF! EDF!" while nuking a skyscraper full of giant ants with a friend.

Pre-NRS Mortal Kombat, especially 3D era MK. The lore got increasingly dense without ever taking itself too seriously, until Armageddon had 60+ characters fighting each other in one giant free-for-all as its intro
NRS MK takes itself too seriously to fit in with the old timeline, I don't think I'd enjoy its stories even if it didn't get certain characters (e.g. Kung Lao, Sindel) so wrong
