Overwatch 2 is just getting weird as fuck now...

Overwatch 2 is just getting weird as fuck now. The first game never did collabs and now not only are there collabs all the time it's always stuff that only people in their 30s like me would even care about. Which I still don't, mind you, because it would mean I'd have to play Overwatch, but I just find the whole thing interesting. It's like they've completely given up on building a new audience and are catering the game specifically towards retaining the audience of depressed millennials who still play Overwatch 2 in 2025, and of course they'd still get excited about anime they watched as a kid.

I just wonder if games in general are going to start going in this sad direction, because the new generation of kids don't really give a shit about video games anymore and now the gaming industry is just going to be a downward spiral of trying desperately to hold on to millennials as they get older. I'm sure the same thing happened with boomers and some product I don't care about, and I'm simply noticing the same thing happen to my generation.

Gundam got really popular thanks to WfM, it's Wing's 30th anniversary and I'd bet the collab was on the cheaper side of the shit they could get

it would mean I'd have to play Overwatch

No one's forcing you s oyboy, let this garbage just die already

Wings my favorite Gundam and that looks like shit.

Why even pay for iconic character designs if you're just going to make them look weird and misshapen.

I fucking loved Deathscythe as a 12 year old. I remember looking up Gundam on my grandma's computer we didn't have one yet and getting my mind blown that there were so many series and the Endless Waltz shit that hadn't aired in America yet.

turboslop hero shooter i would never in a million years play

hajime katoki robot girl dlc

There's something vaguely annoying about how a franchise can already be pretty successful but out of nowhere one entry gets really big on Twitter for seemingly no reason and brings the most annoying people possible into the fanbase which was already doing fine without them, and then the franchise gets ruined because they see the dollar signs and start making it for those people. The same thing happened to Atelier, Fire Emblem, probably some other examples. It's all connected to how the algorithm magically decides to make something trend to a wider audience and of course they like it too because it was already good, they just didn't know about it yet. Our lives are all at the whims of the algorithm. You can make the best thing ever and if the algorithm doesn't favor you, you're out of luck.

Wow this actually looks really good. I stopped playing mp games though so I don't really care though

Could've been even cheaper if they didn't can Evolution

I would think my displeasure with two other series that were chudded up by going mainstream would indicate that I am not one of those lower creatures. WFM is an exception and it's mainly because I hate Okouchi's other work (Geass, Valvrave, Kabaneri) and am extremely annoyed that he of all people was the one who got the honor of making the first Gundam series with a female protagonist.

unfortunately, Bandai Namco

Wing is kino

Too bad OW is shit

Trannies getting into the yurinigger show was a mistake

If they didn't can Evolution what?

what the fuck is his problem?

man it's crazy how influential Smite was

In what sense?

they kinda kicked this whole gimmick off among MP games. (Fortnite would be a year later, whether or not they happened to plan it at the same time)

This looks like absolute fucking trash.

I... think the idea of collabs predates Smite, even if you limit it to MP games? Maybe Smite was the first western game to do it though, I dunno, the only examples I can think of are Japanese.

Didn't canned, sorry

gundam evo was fun. sucks that it lost all of it's playerbase within like two months because of dogshit netcode that would end a match if one guy disconnected

you were right the first time

I was trying to play off the fact that the word "can" is also used to ask a question and so if you read it as the wrong can it sounds like an unfinished sentence, hence "didn't can Evolution what" but I am so baffled by the responses I have gotten that I think this has backfired on me and now I am the one who has been made a fool of.

Nice tongue piercing

Ow2 audience is 90 percent alpha and zoomers though. They will literally play any crap as long as it's free.

I’m still waiting the day they animate frozen tear drop.

I find it strange that they haven't. Yeah, Anon Babble hates it, but that's never stopped them from making shitty Gundam shows before. It still deserves an anime solely because Wing is extremely popular and it's an official sequel to Wing. They don't have "it's not finished" as an excuse either because it's been finished for 10 years at this point. I suppose it's possible they want to adapt Glory of the Losers first since that would be a remake of Wing and would give them more excuse to do the sequel while it's fresh in people's minds. But even that has been finished since 2017 so they're just sitting on their asses doing nothing for years.

I suppose I'm getting ahead of myself. It did take 30 years for them to adapt Hathaway's Flash and they've still only done 1 of 3 movies. These things do take time. I've still got 20 more years before I have to give up hope on Frozen Teardrop.

I still think OW is fun. Especially since 6v6 is back. Haven't tried Stadium, though.

It's because collabs are the biggest sellers and Activision probably already had the dialogue open since Call of Duty had a Gundam collab with Gundam 0079 and Witch from Mercury.
It's just harder to implement into Overwatch because unlike COD where everybody controls the same and has the same general proportions, you have to build it around what movesets and bodytypes would ostensibly fit(or as close as possible).

Also bewildered the obvious choices of Pharah and Dva aren't getting skins but whatever you couldn't pay me to play Overwatch.

CoD-Gundam.png - 535x613, 574.28K

If I paid you a million dollars a day, you would play Overwatch.

Fighting games did it, earliest example I can think of is Gon in Tekken 3 but odds are there's even earlier ones. Also even when Fortnite was barely announced(and years away from its 2016 release and the 2017 BR), COD was doing crossovers like Ghosts doing horror movie events with stuff like Michael Myers, and also Snoop Dogg.
A pseudo-example for western games would maybe be Mortal Kombat vs DC but only a few years later Mortal Kombat would start doing crossover guests anyway.

The real answer as to western games would probably be one of those weird ass extreme or gimmick sports games that always had weird guest characters like Slim Jim, like NBA Street having Mario characters on the Gamecube version.

It does seem like a complete waste to do collab skins in a game that's played from first person though. If they did Gundam Wing skins for Fortnite, now those I would get. Especially because they don't have to match it to the body shape of the Overwatch characters so they'd be the actual Gundams.

See I'm just gonna say no because you're making it weird.

Now that you mention Tekken and Snoop Dogg, Tekken Tag Tournament had a Snoop Dogg stage and that was in 2011. It is a Japanese game but it's a western collab. So it's an example worth mentioning.

Oh, I can make it a lot weirder. Heh, heh, heh...

looks cool.
the part that ruins gundam is how all the dramatic parts are just close ups of niggers in morph suits yelling.

it's like adding the oblivion dialogue system to devil may cry.

lack of curry cunny

The new Stadium mode has 3rd person actually.

Keep crying kid, we'll be laughing at you when we get the FLCL collab.

the part that ruins gundam is how all the dramatic parts are just close ups of niggers in morph suits yelling.

gotta watch the old stuff, it's so much better
wing sux

I was gonna ask how the second season ended up being, now I'm finding out I'm apparently way out of date on my anime news and there have been a total of five seasons? There's more new FLCL than there is old FLCL at this point. I feel like it's hard to characterize it as a millennial nostalgia show because it's completely plausible that the majority of its fanbase now is zoomers.
