Is Elin any good?

Is Elin any good?

elin.png - 460x215, 227K

No. Eternally incomplete early access bottomless pit for your time and sanity "make your own goddamn fun" slop game.

Yeah it's great

What even is Elin?
I thought it was an isometric single player game but every discussion I've seen shows it as an mmo

Yep. It's really good. Got 500 hours out of it and I'm waiting for a few more updates before I start up another character.
It's not an MMO. I'm not sure where you got that idea.

it's great if you're autistic

mmo

huh

I never understood it either. It seems to me to be a kind of Dwarf Fortress but where you have a main character.

elin means "organ" in finnish
also you can use it to mean "I lived"

Dwarf Fortress is a civilization simulator and resource management game. In Elin you primarily only care about yourself and whatever party members you want to bring along. There is a city building side distraction but it's optional once you get through the brief tutorial and it doesn't take much effort/investment to make it highly lucrative.

It's trash. Was shilled hard in here then got immediately abandoned by the hackfraud dev. Shit combat mechanics, incomplete as fuck, awful sprites, only appeal is reddit "monkey cheese" bullshit

Yes. Ever-evolving early access with limitless potential for experimentation and exploration a "set your own goals and progress at your own pace" kino game.

2D fantasy Kenshi with more autism

Was shilled hard in here

Are the shills in the thread with us now, newfag?

endless fucking threads to the point jannies told people to make a general and get the fuck out

le ebin vdittor tried to bypass it by making stupid threads about "are farms good?" and other retarded shit

Kill yourself, faggot. Put the barrel in your mouth and pull the trigger. Free your mom from waking up every morning and thinking about your embarassing self.

Well, at least they paid for an AD while shilling

What do you think is going to happen when even a single thread gets banned and nobody can find an Elona thread when we actually want to discuss the game you stupid faggot. What do you care about multiple threads anyway? You obviously have a deeper rooted problem or you'd be pissing and shidding in the E33 threads that are 100x worse.

actually
barely half a week passed before moderation started removing threads about a new release without good cause
which is what then caused those vague threads to pop up

welcome racky, sis

Was shilled hard in here then got immediately abandoned by the hackfraud dev

the game was updated like 2 weeks ago and the nightly was updated yesterday

sandbox roguelike.

Its just ok.

w-buh-but what if the threads get banned and people can't find us???

Gee, maybe you subhumans shouldn't have been retarded and made a general for that. You know, the entire fucking point of a general? Not like anyone wants to talk about your shit game now that it's been abandoned - just like every other game made by the same hack.

i-it's not abandoned! We just went from multiple updates daily to an update every couple months!

E33 threads that are 100x worse.

E33 is a cultural phenomenon though. It has quite literally saved the dead JRPG genre, and therefore it's no surprise that everyone in the gaming sphere is buzzing about it.

It has quite literally saved the dead JRPG genre

No it didn't. JRPGs aren't dead.

mmo

The only mmo thing about it is the ability to see other people's dying messages (in the newspaper), find their bodies in dungeons, and visit other's homes (without the owner being present). Apart from that, it's completely singleplayer.

JRPGs aren't dead.

Not now, they aren't.
Prior to E33's launch, the absolute state of JRPGs was fucking bleak dude. When was the last honest to god turn-based Final Fantasy? more than 2 decades ago.
Shit's fucked and E33 is giving the genre a much needed course correction.

It has quite literally saved the dead JRPG genre

That remains to be seen, it's just as likely it causes every jrpg from now on into parryfest which I'd really rather not happen. Stupid corpos will miss the point of what makes E33 good. >waaaah I'm just a seething ball of mentally ill hate, look at me seethe waaa

mmo confirmed

SE being retarded doesn't mean JRPGs are or were dead. You're clearly clueless if you actually think that.

cultural phenomenon

ironic shitposting is still shitposting, anon

It's fun but it gets old for me pretty quick. I like the original more. The music is especially a downgrade but I'm a massive sucker for midis so maybe that's just me.

abandoned

still updated

the game had 7 major updates in the last 4 months, which is way more than "an update every couple months". During this time the nightly was updated almost daily (when not multiple times a day) schizo-kun
why does this game make you seethe so much ?

abandoned

It gets updated roughly every 2 days, what the faggy fuck are you sperging about?

Why are you pretending that fast updates only happened at the beginning and have since slowed down to nearly nothing?

It's the anon that used to shit up every single thread and cry to the jannies. Obviously the dev fucked his mother.

Yes:

Elin has a dedicated shitposter. Don't ask why. Probably some third-worlder upset that someone is successful.

denying reality does not render reality any less real.

I've never claimed any of that schizo-chan

The base management part is the biggest turnoff

craft a workbench to craft a workbench to craft a workbench to

The new Alchemy update feels extremely underwhelming

He knows, he's the faggot who started reporting and crying to mods in the first place

Yeah I agree. It really needs some cutting down. There should not be 5 different benches just to build wall, block, floor etc

wait, the base building stuff isn't the main appeal of the game? I stopped playing during the tutorial because it really just looked like i was going to be building a base non stop

Is it more like kenshi then?

The focus, like Elona is watching stats go up and dungeon diving for loots. Eventually, you encountered mobs with thousands of stats in the void and need to be even stronger. There are various way to achieve that.

Why is Eyth giga buffing all those Void mobs though

Because you need a challenge

You don't have to do much with your base. Mines just a bunch of containers and crafting stations scattered on the ground

The tutorial mostly focuses on the base building because that's the big new feature for the sequel. You don't have to engage with it beyond the tutorial if you don't want to but it requires very little upkeep/investment beyond that point and you can get a lot of out of it. My first character I went hard on building and made a town, my second character just used the base for storage/crafting and a warp point.

When people talk about videogames it's shilling. Obviously.

menma shut down

I miss my elin.

There's no main appeal to the game. It's all incomplete

If you don't like what's in the game you won't like it complete either. Find another criticism.
