What's the key ingredient preventing VR from taking off? Inexpensive multi-limb tracking? A killer app? Greater adoption of omnidirectional treadmills? Better streaming support?

the future.webm - 720x1280, 3.93M

Too much of an investment for some bing bing wahoo.

Easier access to VR porn and I'm not even joking.

There are 19740 Japanese porn movies, and VR adoption in Japan is lacking. Explain this.

What's the key ingredient preventing VR from taking off?

convenience.
Anything more than a pair of wireless future-glasses is too clunky.

Better haptics. As long as you can't feel anything you touch or can phase through every wall, it's not immersive enough to surpass gimmick level.

b-b-but that's unfeas-

Too bad, guess VR will never take off.

Facebook buying Oculus and Valve retaliating killed the chance of it taking off imo. Split the market in half, killed all hype.

you die in the game you die for real

this would really galvanize interest desu senpai

No one has a big enough living room

There are people like me who are pussies. I wear glasses and get really bad motion sickness from VR. I basically have to take dramamine or other motion sickness medication before playing and they always make me drowsy.
So I don't know what the answer is.

I would play Ace Combat on that shit

Conceptualize the fragrance.

people wanna chill out and relax

I only play Beat Saber
Recommend me some games
Recommend me some songs.

too big

too heavy

too expensive

no games

doesn't provide the dreamed of experience of feeling actually transported to a virtual place

Then why are you posting you blind retard.
Oh sorry
.:..::::...:::.::...::.

this
and this
current headsets are still way too clunky, nobody wants to wear a helmet like that people want slim super light wireless glasses
and being immersed in a game world only to be stopped by your VR boundary wall every couple of feet and having to awkwardly reposition yourself really hurts the experience and makes anything other than mostly stationary games pretty much impossible to make

It's really expensive and not all that great. VR would need a game on par of what halo did for the Xbox to really get it popular. No, VR rereleases of games doesn't move the needle

oh shit lawnmower man became reality

being able to safely wire chinkoid electronics directly to our squishy brain matter

What's the key ingredient preventing VR from taking off?

The interface. Its always some heavy pair of goggles, an elaborate mechanical moving chair, a pair of controllers you have to wiggle around in the air. Traditional gaming made it simple. You either have a keyboard and mouse or a gamepad/controller. You just move your fingers and look at a screen. That's it. You're completely motionless. Completely focused. Totally immersed. VR by trying to immerse you more actually does the opposite. It no longer becomes comfy, it becomes an exercise

Imagine watching an action movie but you physically had to run after the characters to keep observing them and the plot. At first it sounds cool, then you realize how tiring it is. After a long day at work or school people just want to relax. VR is anti relax

That and most VR games are as deep as a puddle

I think she is pure asian not hapa

VRChat has been the only worthwhile app and thats only cause its reminiscent of early internet fuckery where corpos havent fully grasped how to make a profit off it.
I fear that once corpos do get their hands on it then VR is ruined and there truly is no reason to do it.

same vibe

fakemeat.png - 667x490, 216.11K

How safe is VRChat? I wanna try it but I'm too autistic to talk.

You will eat synthetic lab meat before the century is up

Use the bugs and instead of making bug patties use the bug paste to 3d print a bug steak. Simple as.

28 posts and no one has hornyposted about wanted to plap her while on that thing

I tried 360vr porn but the resolution is absolute dogshit. Their solution is 180vr porn and the resolution is still dogshit.
Is there just no good VR porn?

Only if she can do a barrel roll.

good games

How could it be unsafe. Define that. Like physically unsafe? Unsafe as in the community??

Safe? What are you trying to avoid talking to people or see if theres assholes on there? Either way theres nothing stopping you from just not talking and observing what people are saying. Hell most of the people who make content and videos in VRChat dont even talk, they just pull stupid shit with their models. Observing is completely viable, just like lurking on Anon Babble instead of posting.

I was thinking like doxxing unsafe but now I'm also worrying about screamers unsafe.

All of those, pricing, convenience (the biggest barrier), no catchy marketing or memorable illustration of what it can do.

The other problem is that devs treated it like a gimmick, so it had nothing to really make it more than that.

Convenience is the biggest though. The reason why consoles got huge back in the day was because you popped in a cart and played, while PC required floppies or installation, setting up, finding and launching the game... etc.

modern apps, same thing. You can do more on a PC, but on a phone (larger market, more money) you simply start the app and go. It isn't better, but it is easier for today's croc-eearing mouth-breather.

It honestly looks dangerous, I dont wanna go in to sniff that puss only to get hit in the face by the force of fucking metal

It's literally just retards talking, sometime ERPing. Someone will probably try to groom you, but it's no more "unsafe" than this very website, dummy

they suck. vr porn needs to be sensory overload, but since none of the whores want to be second/thrid/twentieth fiddle, to a "main" performance, it doesn't happen, so its just a bunch of bitches taking turns doing things while the rest just stare vacantly.

It used to be like that, like some sort of wild west where you never knew what an avatar was gonna do to you, but now the game comes with shit tons of safety features allowing you to turn off all features a model might have like sound effects.

It is crazy how much money has been invested in vr over the last decade and how hard they've pushed it to everyone in the world and there hasn't even been a single killer app for it. It's literally putting the cart before the horse. They dump hundreds of billions of dollars into it just hoping someone will create a mainstream use for it rather than coming up with a mainstream use and then trying to get it to the masses.

You have to develop something people want for them to buy it.

You'd be on it, too, tho. Imagine being a bird fucking another bird in the air

Its not like you can get streamsniped on there, unless you announce who you fucking are your fine. For screamers you can mute other players last I recall. Plus you arent gonna get jumpscared, if you hear someone screaming youll hear it a mile away

A girl-bird, btw. I'm not a gay bird

enough of the bullshit. when can i enter the matrix?

At best they can do Wii games, they can't track any other part of the body.

It's selling point is immersion but it just doesn't excel enough in that category yet.

Are you letting them drill a hole straight to your spine?

The only upside to this is that I could get behind her and smell her ass as much as I want without her knowing.

Obviously it needs to be lighter and more comfotable, but you don't realize that until you actually have one. When you do have one, you realize most of the games are just shitty tech demos. It needs more whole ass games like HL2 VR that are actually full campaigns and not mobile games. A vast majority of VR enjoyment comes from mods of flatscreen games, the ones made for VR are lazy and basic except for a few.

Probably not for another couple decades at least. And that's if you're comfortable with them putting some implant in your brain

this, plug me into a computer and let me take my permanent soma holiday already

exactly

What's the key ingredient preventing VR from taking off?

Putting a headset on ruins my hair. Fuck that.

Faggot

I think people set the expectations too high. VR games aren’t what’s going to sell headsets, it’s going to be VR Chat types of meeting spaces. Society is like a pendulum and we’ve collectively been isolating ourselves more and more. A game like VR Chat but better that can draw people in to meet new people and social with, it’s going to do way more for VR than an AAA VR game.

Zuck, you already tried it and it sucks. Stop.
Let Gaben take care of it.

Thanks for your input, mark

Gay Ben

doing anything but sitting on his fat ass all day

lol

I work hard to look pretty, I'm not ruining all that to end up like Heihachi.

Faggot

The cord. Having a cord hanging around your feet makes immersion difficult. The insistance on trying to do normal 3d running around games is hard too because it just turns into standing to play a game instead of sitting.
I think taking a game like Riven with set steps but having each step be a VR surrounding rather than a flat scene would be very good.

I'm more surprised that the augmented reality genre never took off after the success of Pokemon GO. Seems to me there's lots of potential phone games you could which integrate your surrondings into the game. Imagine an app game like fatal frame where your gps tracks your location while spawning ghosts around that you need to use your phone camera to detect and defeat.

People aren't willing to spend thousands on a gaming rig. Some people are, but not all people. So far, there isn't a product that's good enough that checks every box:

Lightweight, no cable

High resolution and powerful

No controllers, hand tracking

Cheap

Doesn't ask for the data of every porno you watch

What I'm asking for is impossible to accomplish? Maybe. I don't care, I've had Oculus Rift S and it's shit, the novelty wears off after trying Superhot, Beat Saber and Blade & Sorcery, and the medium is clearly not meant for driving or piloting sims since you get tons of motion sickness.

because people play video games to get away from reality. not to have to go into gas station bathrooms to find a pikalet or whatever the fuck.

On the hardware side it's that specialized optics are difficult to acquire for DIY shit and all the walled gardens are shit. If good 6DoF tracking had an easy open source implementation to follow, then you'd see more VR headsets being pumped out, just like that brief period where every Chinese company and their mother was making a 3D printer clone.

On the software side it's that there was no good Linux support until very recently, since Facebook never released drivers on Linux like was promised in the Kikestarter, so all the VR desktop solutions died and standalone headsets just made it worse.

On the game side it's just that big companies aren't putting in the effort.
A lot of flat games could probably be turned into VR games as just company game jam projects or hobby projects, but the people making the decisions don't know and don't care about that even though the headset market is starting to outpace Xbox.
If you have a house and don't have a 2m x 2m space, then you live in a New York apartment with roommates, in a garbage dump or a church that is devoted to Couches and Ottomans, not a house.
Honestly, all the investing has just caused VR to remain mostly the same as it has been since 2016. They took funding away from videogames and moved it towards crypto real-estate bullshit, but they ultimately just failed to compete with a game from 2003 and a F2P Unity game. Their longterm hardware development has also moved explicitly towards the stagnating phone market by forcing all headsets to have a battery and mobile chip.

2m x 2m isn't big enough for VR unless you're standing around. Your fucking armspan is around 2 meters unless you're a manlet or woman.

If you don't want to isolate yourself there's a thing called going outside. From your point of view, if you want VR to succeed you literally have to beat reality.

What was that chud?

What's the key ingredient to make VR take off

A different species that isn't consciously and unconsciously averse to rendering themselves blind and deaf

Going outside is scary.

i own a headset, im just a lazy piece of shit and i'd rather just doomscroll porn/content till im blue in the face

This is why I've never bothered with VR. I get motion sickness on planes, boats, and from some regular videogames with motion blur/camera bobbing. Can't even play Minecraft. I even get sick from scrolling too long on my phone in the dark for Christ's sake.

I just know VR is gonna fuck me up. No point in trying it

I'm referring to 2m x 2m where you can mostly avoid hitting anything, not 2m x 2m total, meaning that there is a bit of room around the edges.
If it's not enough, then clear a bit more space or use seated VR.

clear more space

This is the problem. No one wants to do that. People buy spacious houses to use them, not to let them sit empty like some kind of college student who can't afford furniture.

imagine quickly strapping her up in that and putting your thumb in her asshole haha

Damn nigga then just kill yourself.

Convenience.

Have to be wired to something. If you aren't it suffers from some sort of visual or performance quality loss.

For higher end games you have to be hooked to a fairly beefy PC to play stuff like Half Life Alyx.

If the game ever drops below 60 FPS you are going to feel like vomiting.

The onboarding process takes weeks of feeling like you're going to die, pass out, and constantly in cold sweats, especially if you're susceptible to motion sickness.

My first experience in VR was Playstation VR Worlds, and I was already getting cold sweats in just the London Heist which simply has you standing in place shooting and couldn't play more than 30 minutes. Then I started Scavengers Odyssey (Picture related) which has you jumping around in zero-G and moving around while being seated and I had enormous headaches, I felt like I was going to pass out, had such cold sweat that I had to have a fan on me all the time playing just to not be completely drenched, and every time I moved without moving my head I felt legitimately like I was about to die from how awful the motion sickness was.
It took me almost two weeks of constantly forcing myself to play this game with all these physical issues before I was able to stand more than 20 minutes of playtime in it, and then another week after that in order to do an entire full two hour playthrough for the challenges I had left.

Everything is a tech demo. The only companies actually trying to make proper retail games are Sony, whoever did Arkham Shadows, and a few smaller indies and even they've scaled back heavily on their VR prospects since the VR2 flopped.

Some people are complete klutzes who can't understand they're in a real life space and walk into walls or rip the VR headset out of their system breaking stuff.

Until every VR headset is the equivalent of a Meta Quest but with the processing power of a 4070 and costs $300ish it's never going to take off.

it takes too long to setup and too much effort to use.
when it's like SAO it will get wide adoption.

i just like it for flight sims :)

Too long to set up

Find a square in your house

Put the fucking glasses on

Just play

Are you faggots retarded?

I wish I had this setup and a gf/wife so I could be using this for sexual purposes instead of its intended purpose if you catch my drift

Good VR usually takes calibration and software setup to work properly

Proud honor of a "live, laugh, love" poster

I just can't imagine not having the space for VR in a house, since I live in a small-ish studio apartment and still have the cleared space for VR in spite of all the random clutter.
But usually also only for the first startup.

My main gripe is that most of my gaming shit is in the basement, and the ceiling is too low, so I end up banging on vents and shit if I reach up.

This. VHS blew up because of ease of access to porn, and died because new technology introduced better access to porn.
If they goon-max the device in a guise making a "device for gaming" that shit's going to be the standard peripheral device for computers.

I guess there's always seated VR.

do you think that this could hold the weight of the average Anon?

Which is fine, but I hate teleport bullshit too.

I think VR is neat but this guy thinks VR is shit so he built a replica cockpit with three overlapping beamers and a bunch of bent panels.

youtube.com/watch?v=I7c28vTazzw

He's married too so I bet he fucked his wife at least once in there somehow.

Her ass is in a perfect position.

heh

You should at least try wireless VR. The head tracking is fine but moving around with a controller is when things get bad.

People need to lose weight, unironically. VR is much less enjoyable when you're fat.

I still say it's worth getting used to, because high-end VR is just that good.

videogames are supposed to be about traveling at 600mph with twitch inputs to direct the character in the correct directions, not needing to literally run 600mph

anything less than 210 fov

worth getting used to

"No."

As long as its not a pair of smart lenses, it won't take off.
3D failed for the same reason.
Who the fuck wants to wear something all the time.

all of the above. it's a zero sum game and until VR beats traditional gaming in every metric, it will never truly take off.

anon arrested for public indecency

do people just underestimate the value of money or something
sell it at a loss

Get VR to look like this

its more about the completely unrestricted FOV and breathability, than just "looking" like a band of plastic around a chink's face.

Fatties can't even stand up for an hour straight.

at 400USD you'll still get poors complaining and making up false claims

lack of motion clarity & lag
because you're trying to mimic a reality, your brain needs to be fed an input signal fast and clear enough to accept it. right now there is 'lag' and blurriness when you move around. maybe if you put 2 crt monitors on each eye at 500hz, you'd get somewhere.

comfort
who is going to use these? either addicted gamers or maybe some office (apple pipedream). talking about consecutive hours of usage. either case you need to be able to not feel it. when you take it off, there shouldn't be a relief moment. right now it's simply not relaxing to use, so why would you..

use/software
porn addicts can rope themselves, i'm talking about normal people here. why use it? a game? that's too little..
if they get the comfort, motion and lag solved it means you can wear it all the time without issue. i'm thinking contact lenses with an overlay. then you can start using it as augmented reality. replacing walls in your house/room for comforting vistas. and your generic usages, screens, helpful overlays when wanted.

complete reality immersion needs some matrix like interface. but who are you willing to trust with such a thing...in this time/world, nobody.

Plug and Play aspect - i havent used my Quest 2 in a year all because 5 minutes it takes to equip/start/connect to Airlink/start steamvr etc. is too long

It should be lot faster, and the headset should be way smaller - basically just wear it and immiediately can start without calibrations and shit.

All i want is simplest easy to use VR glasses to watch JAV VR porn.

Blinii köt

Unironically look into the quest 3. It turns itself on as soon as I turn it on and goes back to sleep when I turn it back off.

Too big of a space requirement

What people want isn't VR, they want full AR. They was that shit in SAO or RPO where you put on the headset and you go into a coma while you live out a fantasy.
That shit would actually be like crack if it hit the market and the games for it were good (so we won't see it for decades).

I`ll just wait till likes of Bigscreen and Apple Vision Pro become affordable and accissible.

Probably will take 20 more years to see tech like that which can give realistic hallucinations and be controlled by your nervous system signals much like the controllers which use your mind to control a pixel on the screen. Its still in development.

VR device is inconvenient to use for long periods of time so sessions devolve to 1-2 hours for most people. Plus the price of entry and all the games/software basically being "Thing you can do in 2D, BUT NOW IN VR". I haven't seen a single thing that's exclusive to VR and absolutely wouldn't work in a traditional 2D environment.

You dont need tech like that. You need Drugs.

in fact, the biggest disappointment of modern VR is that when first use it, your brain is confused and mistakes it for reality and processes it as such, adding to perception things that are lacking - so you litterally can almost feel touch, smell unexisting aromas, feel that you are there.

But it quickly adapts and that feeling is lost and it just becomes a screen before your eyes. Its fixed not by making implant to your head, butt developing a drug that would make your brain process the visual imputs as real and make you believe it like you belive your dreams. So likely combination of some medical drug and binaural waves to put you in meditative state.

this is plain wrong, no one who tried VR would think "same thing as 2d, but in VR". Its entirely new experience.

For example, after playing VR FPS games, none of the normal ones can compare even nearly regardless how good their graphics are. Its just such a major difference between "seeing stuff on screen" and "holding a gun in your hands and being there".

VR provides degree of interactivity and freedom that cant be replicated otherwise.

the problem circles back to convenience now, instead of just resting a controller in my lap to shoot a gun, I have to constantly hold my arms up and aim a weightless object while getting visual data of an item I can't feel.
I've done VR and I can get why people get into it, but it feels like a giant expensive gimmick. Even with it's advancements.

Drugs, only thing that can provide hallucinations safely is LSD.

Your brain confuses things for real.

No unless you are like 12 or a normie who gets fooled by ads or easily attaches to things. I don't and I'm not 12.

I would need a video from the opposite angle before I form an opinion.

I think that over time SteamVR is going to fall by the wayside in favor of something like Monado and Envision that doesn't even need you to launch Steam and SteamVR first. Hopefully standalone headsets running locked-down Androidslop that needs to be sideloaded with everything can also just eventually die out.
Bigscreen is a meme that is trying to keep itself premium.
Apple VR is just shit, because it's not compatible with anything and applied none of the lessons from 10 years of VR development.
Using a controller without motion controls for FPS games is anti-convenient, the only reason it's even playable without feeling like you're suffering neurological degradation is because it's overly simplified and plays itself.

Anon Babble would even still bitch about current omnidirectional treadmills not actually equating to your feet being tracked in the same way, we're stil translating basic joystick or keyboard presses. You need something so advanced that it calculates all of your 1:1 body movements on top of the ability to endlessly walk. I like mine personally because it's enough to trick me into it and think I'm really walking in games, minus strafing has to have an auto function. But I got used to to what that means for right now.

good thing I already have a PC also so I can still enjoy shooters. regardless the argument of "VR is an expensive gimmick" is one you can't argue against. It has a very small userbase, expensive compared to other entertainment options, and requires more prep/setup than just sitting down in-front of a screen and start gaming. They have to scale the tech way down before this can even be addressed. Other anons have also pointed out the tech problems requiring more money for your rig to run your already expensive gimmick.

Also i want to get one thing straight here. VR already had a killer app. It doesn't need another, it would be great if it did obviously. But I'm using this headset for what i always imagined that i would do. Play my games in VR. The flat ones, you know the experience i thought would have been there if the industry has put more effort and money into making games. I guess it became somewhat kind of convenient that the industry moved over to Unreal Engine. Because UEVR is going to make this dream possible now.

VR already had a killer app

Which was?

Actual worthwhile games, it's as simple as that.

I want to rail her while she's trying to fly in that game.

Half-Life Alyx

She is in a pretty hot position

There needs to be compatible with modded skyrim

Half Life Alyx, Arkham Shadows, and Beat Saber can all be considered the "killer app" of VR.

not a single sharty reply

it's over

Room, as an early vr adopter my relatively low usetimes come from a lack of room. I need to make enough free space when I wanna use it which often makes me not use it at all because I don't want to move shit for 10 minutes after getting off work to play a game. Treadmill would have the same problem, I already took measure for the most common ones but not getting one because it would permanently take up too much place. If you want a good vr setup you also need the room to just pick up and play whenever.

Retarded "devs" in the midst of a competency crisis. More studios need to fail (taking their investors with them) in order for nature to heal.

1080 sucks also. To many wasted pixels. The real answer is 3d converted video using ai. Everything is vr porn now (with a bit of time and processing power)

The user base is there but the money "isnt". The money that's there is there from microtransactions. The studios that always complain vr is dead are making single player games with no microtransactions. Vr games MUST be multiplayer in some sort of fashion, even if only through a social hub for the sole purpose of giving someone a reason to buy skins n shit.

It's even better doing that in vr

Your mistake was not removing the facial gasket. On the psvr 1 the rubber thing just pulls out. Super comfortable after, nothing touching your face, full airflow

Literally just us an ai converter. I even through ai upscaled Asian street meat through it for accurate 3d. Get the ai models and converters while they're still free. All ai seems to go paid within a year.

Skyrim
Elite Dangerous
Sim racing
Flight sims

3d fail because it relied on 60$ blue rays and at the time only 1 satellite that could handle high def. 3d needs an image for each eye so requires twice the pixels "bandwidth" wise. Now you can do it yourself at home for anything

Literally just use a halo strap without the facial mask installed

pleasure cube fags lost

I'm the opposite. I cant even imagine how I used to find flicking a stick and pressing a button fun. It's like looking back at pong.

Maybe euros just have atrophied trigger fingers

he doesn't like pong

go to bed zoom zoom

Steamvr is depreciated currently. I expect (hope) that to change with the launch of Deckard. But currently bypassing with vdxr is more stable and the multiple virtual monitor clarity has spoiled me to the point I can't stand to even look at the steamvr overlay resolutions.

expensive

A decent headset isn't going to cost you that much more than a decent monitor and decent controllers likewise aren't going to set you back more than something like a flightstick.
Even if I think standalone is shit, those headsets don't cost more than 300-500$.
All games that do this are doomed to failure anyway. You can't have microtransactions and also be a publicly traded company or else the game will be dead or not worth playing in 3 years at most.

Using a controller without motion controls for FPS games is anti-convenient,

I want an actual gun controller with proper trigger pressure and recoil (simulated) There's like 2 or 3 in the works.

UEVR

I already have a monitor and a controller costs 40-80 bucks. Now I have to make sure I have empty space and if you tell me I can still sit down and play these games then that defeats the entire point of VR and it's still an expensive gimmick.
what this guy says is the only way I'll give VR another try, the lack of tactile feedback makes VR an expensive gimmick.

Dp you really need the stuff that you have ti move out of the way, or are the relics of a past where you had to stare at a fixed point in your room

I meant vr 180

VR fags never understand why their expensive gimmick won't take off, most people don't want to put up with the bullshit involved with VR for an experience they're probably only gonna be able to tolerate for 2-3 hours. Compared to just sitting down and turning on the PC/Console and playing. I'm glad you like VR, but it's never taking off because its clunky as fuck compared to just regular gaming and there's like three apps that are even worth getting VR for.

All games that do this are doomed to failure anyway. You can't have microtransactions and also be a publicly traded company or else the game will be dead or not worth playing in 3 years at most

I don't see that, because almost every br mitiplayer game, 30% of the base are using paid skins and accessories

put hand on wall ingame

no wall irl

simple as

I don't even get what your talking about. I use 8+ hours a day. I never have to physically turn on/off anything. I can access everything remotely and spawn it at me anywhere in my home.

works for me :^)

not an argument, you're ignoring the fact that (You) are not the general audience and the wagie does not want to put up with that shit. Plus its common to see people complain about headaches and motion sickness with VR because either the framerate sucks, the resolution sucks, or the person's eyes suck. Usually it's 2 out of 3.

Yes, I need the stuff I have to move out of the way. If I had the place for a vr room I would have one, but I don't. Working on it tho. Truth is that when I get home in the evening and got all chores done I have like an hour or two for myself and I don't wanna waste a quarter of that to set shit up and packing it away again.

Is a deep rock galactic vr mod.
You use gear from your body.

In hdr mode the game looks good.
Levels are randomly generated.

On the consumer level, Creating the illusion of free movement without the user running into the walls or requiring pricey, unwieldy gear that won't turn into a coat rack in 6 months.

I think those people have defective (uneven) eye placement unironically. That's has nothing to do with general use. It's more convenient not less.

I don't get what your packing. Why is it there in the first place.

average chinese woman in the BWC training machine

you are fucking retarded, keep enjoying your expensive gimmick. how the fuck you think fiddling with a headset is MORE CONVENIENT than picking up a controller is mind boggling.

inb4 idk what you're talking about it works for me :^)

which is why I'm done with this circular argument. I already won, now I'm just mad

You don't know why people have a dinner table and a couch?

Tf am i fiddling with? Your "argument" is literally to go fiddle with a controller "instead"

Yes. It's old paradigm shit. For staring at a fixed point. The point no longer needs to be fixed.

I dunno maybe it's an euro thing to not eat in front of your tv (without a loicense). Tf you need a dinner table for.

picking up a controller and you're ready
VR requires, at bare minimum, picking it up and putting it on your head. making sure it's placed on your head right, then getting your VR controllers up and ready. It's literally more steps than "pick up controller" "press xbox button". It's definitely less steps than "Sit down" "Place hands on M+KB"

muh beat sabre

muh half life alyx

muh interchangable fantasy pool noodle swinging simulator

muh tacticool operator simulator

muh shitty minigames with a dumb jumpscare attached horror tie ins

VR is too clunky. We need something like Neuralink for games where you just insert a chip in your head and you get transported in the videogame world

Does anyone else have fantasies of being in a VR thingy and getting raped by your male friends? Or is that just woman thing

Sit down

Pick up controller

Make sure it is charged or the wire is untangled or whatever

Connect USB cable or sync controller

Make sure you're holding the controller right

Sit down

Place hands on KB, lift up, flip and shake to dislodge disgusting particles from keys

Do your stretches to prevent carpal tunnel

Put on your carpal tunnel brace

Pop the ball out of your mouse and give it a good cleaning

Remember that you need to use your GAYMEN mouse

Plug in Gaymen mouse, wait for Razer drivers to vomit onto your computer

Place hands on M+KB

Make sure hands are placed on the correct keys and buttons

You're adding steps to VR and leaving them out of the other control schemes. Do you just remain standing in the middle of the room when using the xbox controller because you don't "sit down"?

brain problems, incapable of understanding the point

works for me :^)))))))

>not a single sharty reply

it's over

For vr the headset is already on the head because it's replaced all physical screens. So only step is select game and game fires up. Even putting headset on. I don't even need to press power it just turns itself on, i don't need to click to connect to pc, it's already connected when I wake it.

I live in a fantasy universe where the general consumer has removed all their furniture and TVs for VR because I'm an autistic freak

totally normal

I live in a universe where all games require me to stand up and swing my arms around doing haymakers.

Unless you're a woman thats the default mens abode

take the VR helmet off and embrace reality

VR fags never understand why their expensive gimmick won't take off

It's been over 10 years of this thing failing and each year more people turn to it.
How strange.

What's the key ingredient preventing VR from taking off?

Innovation. There simply aren't that many VR games that give a different enough experience or feel genuinely improved by VR. Way too many devs are lazy as fuck and just make some very simple first person 3D games without putting any thought into how VR should be incorporated. If the best you have to offer is "well now you feel like you're in the 3D space..." you have failed. That's not strong enough incentive to push VR into hundreds of millions of households. Right now it's seen as an expensive novelty toy and that's because developers aren't doing anything with the technology.

UEVR

That is now the objective answer. But you gotta be basically on an RTX 5090 if you want to maintain high framerate in high res VR. If you're willing to sacrifice resolution then of course you can still do it, but i think some of the appeal would go away if it's about enhancing your regular gaming experience.

Costs to much.
Takes up to much space.
Not actually any more fun than traditional games.

User interface
A lot of VR UI's are just floating PC UI's.
None of them feel like a definitive leap from desktop to VR as a result. It just feels like a desktop PC with a quirky gimmick.

spend thousands on equipment to play a game you get bored of within hours

Blade and Sorcery actually makes me feel like a psychopath playing it. It's the only game where even friends were like "wtf is wrong with you?" watching me (and friends) try it out.

Would that machine fuck with your inner ear more or less than the regular VR setup?

law of diminishing returns

I don't have a house though, most people don't here

Should I get a Bigscreen Beyond 2 or wait to see if Valve releases something soon?

Poverty

Facebook retard trying to make it a closed ecosystem. Apple retard trying to make it a closed ecosystem. Sony retard trying to make it a closed ecosystem. It will take of the moment retards stop weighting it down.

Go for Bigscreen Beyond 2 I'd say.
