All that’s fine but it wasn’t a fucking final fantasy game. It was 50% Devil May Cry and 50% Mario Party with chocobos. Fuck this game. It didn’t really occur to me how bad this game was until I played Expedition 33 recently and holy fuck what were they thinking? It’s like someone at Squeenix is trying to see how fast they can bankrupt the company.

Remake wasn't that great and rebirth was a timed exclusive. It did pretty well with those constraints. If you take percentage of sales of those who bought the original and who bought rebirth it didn't do that bad. It's something like 3/4ths the sales on ps5.

They shouldn't of made remake exclusively the boring tutorial section of the original. They should have gone to at least the first time at gold saucer to have open world segments.

If remake was like rebirth they would have seen better sales for the sequel.

I like my girls fiery. Yuna in X is the opposite of that. A total self sacrificial, passive doormat with no presence, who does boneheaded, moronic things until Yunalesca. The only thing I respect about her is her strong will near the end. X-2 Yuna lifts her up slightly, because she's showing at least a little bit of character in a few scenes. X-2.5 is also the only place, where I can take her and Tidus being in love seriously rather than it merely being a teenage crush.

All they had to do was remake FF7 into an open world turn based game while staying true to the plot and characterizations and it would have sold 20 million copies. The fucking idiots just had to out their spin on it. Congratulations on your ruined IP dummies.

I think Remake over-delivered. We got our climactic battle with Sephiroth over the streets of Midgar to a hyper version of OWA, and fans were satisfied. All Rebirth could promise was an updated retelling of Aerith's death, which watching a Youtube vid could deliver on. I honestly think they should have bit the bullet and let us have saved her. The buzz and fan backlash would have likely propelled sales. The ending as we got it is like having your cake and eating it, too.

I do think they knocked it out of the park in all aspects, like you mentioned. Although, I came to this game after FFXVI which left such a bad taste in my mouth that dog shit would have tasted like ice cream afterwards.

This is bullshit. The exploration was fucking awful. The towers are the worst thing for exploration because they make you just run to map icons like you're going through a checklist leaving zero actual exploration. There's no point to making an open world game when you lay out where everything is

It's telling that the best part of this nu-FF7 trilogy so far has been the Yuffie dlc. Not too long so it never feels tedious and the combat stays fun for multiple playthroughs. Remake runs out of steam somewhere around the Hojo labs, and Rebirth in Junon.

Hyper focused, linear action game would have been a better fit for this nu-trilogy.
