What is the biggest buyer’s remorse you’ve had for a game?
What is the biggest buyer’s remorse you’ve had for a game?
grim dawn they added a fag quest into the forgotten gods dlc that made no sense to the entire game then they added a dodge roll and nerfed all my hardcore classes it was the only arpg i got a level 100 hardcore on and they fuck it all up for casuals and queers
guess it's back to Diablo 2 for you cause that's basically where the ARPG genre begins and ends and nothing has changed in over 20 years
spent 3 hours on character creator
play 5 minutes
drop game
Wooooah, such an amazing joke that has never been made before.
Metal gear solid 5.
PoE 2 (what a fucking garbage game)
that game 52 shit or whatever filled with uninspired ugly faux pax redditor retro games as if im collecting literal trash in ganges river
but the absolute highest buyer remorse was buying fucking diablo 4
Damn it sounds to me like you’re just hard to please anon. What type of games do you generally play? Not being a dick * enjoyed Poe 2 tho so what was your problems with it
real subtle poe2 shill go rope urself
not playing F(ishing)ATE
shame on you
Hard reset
Gran Turismo 7.
I don't even like cars, especially non arcadey cars. I just had nothing else to play at the time.
Watch Dogs Legion
One of the worst games I've ever played, and I liked the second game.
In the last ten years? Definitely rebirth.
but the absolute highest buyer remorse was buying fucking diablo 4
how the hell did you fall for that
that's why you pirate first
Borderlands 3. Bad writing. Bad gameplay.
Duke Nukem Forever
It’s a toss up.
Paper Mario Sticker Star
I purchased it blind, knowing it’d be great, and I was in denial for almost the entire game. Forced myself to beat the whole thing, thinking it would eventually get better. It didn’t.
Wii Music
I guess it’s cheating if I didn’t buy it with my own money, but this game is responsible for one of the most embarrassing Christmases I’ve ever had. “Play the new game for us, anon.”
I felt guilty for financially supporting FFXVI because it was so bad, so probably that.
I genuinely do not understand why you wouldn't like turn based combat
Do you like Paper Mario?
Buy a game not even knowing what kind of gameplay it has at the most basic level
Just buy it because other people are buying it
cattle
what's the joke?
the plucky squire, fuck you james turner
Diablo 3
Fuck that dogshit piece of crap and fuck blizzard
Oh boy I love running into 10 minute battles over and over and over and over again when the story is just getting good and I want to make it to the next area and they all go down the exact fucking same and I'm not allowed to flee from them because then I won't have enough XP to continue playing the game and it's just the most monotonous fucking strategies over and over and over and over again.
The only time turn-based is good is when "strategy" is added to the end of it.
Preordered payday 3 gold. Still hurts. Still angry about it. Learned 5 different life lessons because of that choice. Fuck this stupid game
starfield early access
play the game right until the 2 h limit
on the fence whether I should keep playing or refund it because the game it's alright but not amazing
finally decide that I want to keep playing it
lost interest around the third hour and never boot up the game ever again
Happened to me two time with Fallout 4 and No Man's Sky. At least there were on huge discount.
Sticker Star has to be one of mine too. When I bought the game I only knew of the beta 2010 footage and didn't see much else of it. I spent a good amount of the playthrough wondering when I was going to get that chain chomp in my party. Honestly I kinda wish they made it play like super paper mario if they weren't going to have party members
BG3 when some faggot male companion started coming on to me giving me cues for sex.
I pirated it but was still piss because i uninstalled other shit to play it.
Guild Wars 2. 50 dollars for the first expansion (RMTed for the second expansion because I was poor lmao). Not only was this the first (and last) instance of me spending more than 20 dollars on a videogame, it also ended up being a dogshit game with awful writing and unsatisfying game design that I deeply regret spending time on, even though I RMTed back like 200 bucks from liquifying my assets before quitting.
you could have demo'd d4 for the price of a KFC meal
that's what i did and it was enough to know how d4 would turn out. 2 years later, looks like i was dead on
2 hours maximum for refunds is honestly a scam, specially when most games nowadays are over 50 hr .
It honestly should be around 8 hours. They don't do it because all the indieslop , walking sims and gimmick streamerbait games would get obliterated
I loved pre-act 4 path of exile enough to buy the exalted pack
by the time lab was released I had begun to regret ever spending a single second playing the game
ultimately it wasn't a complete waste; I got a good two or three thousand hours out of it probably
AC New Horizons, it fucking sucked.
Now I can only wonder if WW was really all that fun or if it's just nostalgia.
Just insta-skip pozzed games. It's a consistent pattern, they're not good games and you're not supposed to "give them a fair chance" or "benefit of the doubt".
1 2 Switch
The Switch had just launched, and I thought it would be a fun party game with friends.
Instead, I paid $50 to look like a colossal jackass.
The clerk at Walmart told me to game the didn’t look that great; I should have listened to you, Robert.
I am pretty sure that was the last game I paid full price for, I'll go with that too
PoE 2 (what a fucking garbage game)
Imagine buying early access for a free to play game lmao
that has to be your worst purchase of all time
Every game where I tilt the stick forward and zoom forwards like my character is the flash I refund immediately.
I'm not sure I get what you mean, can you give an example?
The clerk at Walmart told me to game the didn’t look that great
to be fair, you get $30 worth of in-game points that you would otherwise need to interact with the economy later
so, the game is still free, you're just paying for market entry upfront
was a kid and used my parents card to buy dragon age inquisition deluxe edition on the ps3. what a huge mistake that was.
not checking what kind of game you're even buying
Not even a skill issue, this is straight up NPC mentality
Surely no one is retarded enough to buy a game without knowing its main mechanic.
Bioshock Infinite easily. I also made the mistake of starting on hard since I had beaten the first two that way, turned what was already a disappointment into a huge slog.
Christmas '89. You all have no fucking idea how much this was hyped & how many let down kids there were who begged their folks to buy this POS.
Probably the only games I've outright regretted were 3DS Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (hated the camera controls) and Palworld (does not run, fotm) but I didn't regret them that much, neither were full price and I have enough to play that I don't need to lament these.
It's more retarded than that. You'd have to be actively blind while going through the steam page before buying it
Hot take but Breath of the Wild
I really didn't like it and it's sad because I think it's going to influence the next 20 years of Zelda.
Pokémon sword, its linear as fuck with little exploration, yet it took 3 fucking hours to get to the first gym.
Make an amazing joke that no one has ever made before
I quit on the final boss of a 100 hour game? I am le goofy!
Buying Brink probably. It had potential but was broken at launch.
guess i was the only retard paying for starfield...
thats every gook game
they have great character creators, but thats it
That I why game pass is worth it, especially if you just build up Microsoft rewards.
genuinely how do people even manage to do that
probably Starlop followed by Civ 6 both bought on release.
Starslop is just a bad game, in Civ 6s case however it just didn't click compared to Civ 5
Wait till you try Civ7
Buying a vidya without doing the most basic research on it
Why are normalfags like this? Even if I'm picking a vidya at random, I'll at least read the game description and check a few screenshots to know what I'm getting into.
impulse purchases are very common
Buy video game
Have absolutely 0 clue what it's about or what type of game it is
deserved
This piece of shit
i was really close to preordering collectors edition
thank god i resisted the urge
real time with pause never
never ever
Same, except than I never played it…
You were there?? How old are you bro, I was born in 1989 myself
Paid 170 for it… I did play a shit ton of it for a month though. So much so I feel physically I’ll when I think of it.
who can you even trust? journos are paid shills, reviews are all botted, sites like this are astroturfed by pajeets and botnets, reddit is entirely made of AI.
Its very easy to fall for a game that has been misrepresented completely.
mario is really getting high on the mushrooms, dude, mario is on drugs, the goombas and shit are hallucinations.
I bought BRINK (tm) at launch.
I'm still angry
The only turn based RPGs I've ever liked were ni no Kuni, Mario and Luigi Superstar saga and final fantasy tactics advance.
Everything else is either not really turn based or it's just time wasting.
Don't trust people is my point. Just see for yourself what the game has to offer by reading what it's about or looking up actual straight up gameplay. Longplays are your best friend for this, since you get some autist playing it as much as possible in one sitting, so you get the good and the bad in full display.
BRINK
I just wanted multiplayer Mirror's Edge
Should just play 7th Dragon 3 or something then, after the first area literally all I did was the fixed encounter dragon fights and completed the game and Allie's Death March fine. I did so few normal fights that I didn't even realize the Grateful 7th had random encounters of jellyfish stronger than most dragons. Just pick stuff that isn't trying to waste your time with padding mate
If you bought Diablo 4 then you honestly deserve euthanasia. There is no way on earth a functioning adult could look at some of the early gameplay streams and even bother to follow up afterwards.
Your eyes, which would tell you that the fucking digital D&D game has turn based combat.
What, you don't like getting cheesed by bad endings as your reward for wanting to explore?
I liked
Grandia
Tactics Ogre
Advance Wars
Dragon Age: Origins (pause based RPG)
And I guess Pokémon when I was young
Dragon's dogma 2, everyone promised me dark arisen but better, but it's actually dragon's dogma 2, as in a sequel the incomplete base game and not dark arisen, and we're never getting a expansion/patch to fix it up. I did refund it however.
As of recently Poe 2. Just another fucking reminder that "gamers" are just gambling addicts. Even most of the indies are just number go up hur dur, everything is same game just looks different.
It's actually a pretty cold take for Anon Babble standards
Turbo overkill. By and large I like the old shooter trend but it just felt so weak. The guns are unremarkable and the big selling point, dash slide with chainsaw leg, doesn't even feel good because I fucking hate crouch dashing.
What is the biggest buyer’s remorse you’ve had for a game?
every ubishit games after 2017
Risk of Rain 2. Became unfun very quickly when everything turns into a clusterfuck of enemies with 25673454564587456436756 health. Artstyle didn't convince me to keep playing either.
This is the only game Anon Babble talked me into buying btw. Never again, you fucks.
SimCity 2013 still hurts, bros.
I'll NEVER forgive EA for what they did to the franchise.
I buy products that I have zero information on/I can't read
Can't relate I'm not mentally disabled
Madden 09 for the DS. Passing was shit in that game.
avowed. the companions are awful, the combat is awful, the spells are damage with different colors, the story is awful, the antagonist is awful, the new god is awful, the ost is white noise, they didn't even include any of their OC classes, the shroom godlike mutation are disgusting to look at
Probably Palworld. Shit was just incomplete and complete broken.
I mean, sometimes (op pic aside), there are instances where you like the game concept, you like the gameplay in videos, the gwafics, the music, reviews, and then you play it and something you can only truly experience by playing it, like controls, completely ruin the thing for you, or the game simply runs like shit despite exceeding min requirements. Sometimes updates eviscerate a game.
Makes fun of recycled joke with recycled joke
The ironing
AI can really do anything these days huh?
It's not Ai, but yeah you could use Ai for that.
Think nowadays you barely need anything to train a model.
botw could have been great but i quickly lost interest when i realized it had no dungeons. just fucking around in the overworld got old for me without a good well crafted dungeon at the end of exploration to keep me hooked.
'77 my dude. Been at this shit off & on for a long time.
I took years off during college then when wife & me started having kids but my 8 y/o has me back into it now.
Borderlands 2, and i didn't even buy it, my friend gifted me it.
kek tweet this at her-
| 21 | she/her | lil comic lady
she/her
Yeah, nevermind, you'll just encourage its AGP.
LOL thread bait, am I right?
Completely expecting to see those comics as OPs for a week or two.
Yeah, pretty much. I wonder if you could feed that comic and see if it can gen the girl
Borderlands 3
EDF Iron Rain. FFXIV Dawntrail.
My list is so small of regret purchases that I honestly couldn't tell you what else was on it since they're long forgotten. Being methodical about ones purchases has ended up being an invaluable thing and of the exceedingly few pre-orders I've ever done only DT blew up in my face.
I'm not reading all that devils advocate, the comic artist didn't even figure out what genre the game was before throwing away money there's no excuses
Pokemon sword/shield routes are just bubble corridors, the world design is so damn bad.
Well yeah that's why I said (op pic aside) because that's indefensible retardation.
i thought you were making a joke, then realized you were serious. You went from hero to zero faggot, apply yourself.
the joke is sex + pop culture reference
updooted!!!!
Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude
I had turned 18 about a month before and could finally exercise my legal ability to acquire "adult" content
Not as much as I liked having a 10~ second loading time just to open the fucking menu, and having the framerate die when I turn on the flashlight.
i just pirate everything. Vidya is an interactive medium , unless its some movie shit like tlou watching some videos won't cut it and 2 hours maximum is not enought to know if you should refund when most games nowadays don't even start but after he 3 or 4 hour mark.
splatoon 3. I was really stupid to think nintendo could fix their p2p horseshit connection, it was just as bad as 2 if not worse with the waiting time on lobbies. nintendo online was such a waste of money
sold my wii u and got fucking kirby star allies, a game that most people have forgotten entirely about.
those fucking eb games cunts, they gave me fucking 90 bucks and then swindled me into getting that shit with an enticing pre-order bonus and i didn't even fucking get it.
Gale turning a cool wizard handshake into yaoi is what made me restart my game and play as the dark urge instead, fuck this playersexual "Everyone you're moderately nice to wants to bang you" bullshit, I just wanted my wizard bro to be nothing but
disabling gay romances really should've been an option in the game.
thankfully there's a mod for that nexusmods.com
spend 3 hours on a character
can't even spend 3 seconds to look up what type of game you are buying
Cube World.
The typical normie lets The Hype choose their games for them, not any critical thinking skills demands. Why else would sports games do so well?
Do normies really just buy games because they're popular without checking to see what the fucking genre is? Then get massively upset afterwards?
People can’t handle shit that isn’t similar to the real world, that is why Disney remakes still exist. Throwing a ball is the most easily understood activity in human history.
biomutant.
REMNANT II for both me and my friend.
We were tricked into playing a destiny clone that was marketed as a co-op souls game.
Backed this because I love Mega Man and all of my friends were talking about how awesome it was going to be.
2-3 months in, Dina takes over as project manager
Backer forums immediately go up in flames
Early progressive types start up the gaslighting machine before we all knew what that was.
"You know what, this is a bunch of red flags, but I want to wait to see if the Japanese developers speak out on this."
Wait a full 2 months
Finally give up
Try to get a refund, can't.
Try to charge back. Like a month outside of the window where I could do that.
Just have to sit and wallow in regret as more and more red flags show up.
They have the gal to ask me for more money to ship me the things that were already promised to me at my backer tier.
Actually pay it: I'm mindbroken at this point and just want the suffering to end.
The USB stick with the game that was promised finally arrives.
Already seen people talking about it.
Just toss it into a box and ignore it.
2 years ago, finally get curious enough to try it for myself.
Game barely functions and crashes after just 1 level while running at 10 fps.
Shockingly, this. I love Zelda, I love La-Mulana, I love Outer Wilds. By every metric I could think of, I should have adored this game. But the combat was too Dark Souls which made exploring tedious, and I thought the manual shit was more goofy than really mysterious or good. I just didn't see it.
