Is Sega currently in the strongest position they've been since they were making consoles? Yakuza is getting more and more popular, Atlus is putting out highly acclaimed and popular RPGs, and even Sonic has unJUSTed himself a little bit.

Idk but they need to show some actual games soon

Infinite Wealth and Pirate Yakuza did not exactly set the world on fire.

they're in the same position they've ever been since they stopped making hardware which is who gives a shit about this company anymore

Yakuza fans and Persona fans and Sonic fans

They now have that hard to pinpoint spark that inhabits certain companies at different points in time. sony, capcom and nintendo all used to have it but lost it in the ps2/360 era. FROM regained it and now SEGA

If they made a new Sonic, Yakuza, and Persona game exclusive to a new Sega platform I think it'd do pretty okay

Yes

their big gaas push is probably going to be an unmitigated disaster very similar to sony's current trainwrecks, can't wait

Based Sega. Pumping out pure kino for people who love quality games with a lot of care put into them.

GasS is definitely something I'm tired of, but people vote with their wallets, and I think a lot of people are very happy with the real games Sega is producing now.

Yakuza honestly became slop. Sega's devs being nothing but RGG was a bit sad, thankfully they're making more than Yakuza games now which is fantastic. I still trust them to make at least a decent Virtua Fighter.
I don't consider Atlus's stuff to be Sega games at all but they're cool, except for the demakes.

I miss retard Sega, I wish they'd do something absolutely insane like release a Dreamcast 2 full of Arcade type games even if its a massive financial flop. Being a total war/persona/yakuza factory is soulless.

I hope they team up with Apple and make a console and kick Microsoft and Xbox to the curve

Yakuza is nothing without Nagoshi. Ichiban is a boring protagonist.

Yakuza honestly became slop

It's been slop for most of its existence. It peaked with the very first game.

The first three games are good, 4-6 are where it gets painful.

who gives a shit about this company anymore

42 year old autists who draw sonic porn and make their own OCs.

They're still digging themselves out of the Hyenas-shaped hole they put themselves into last year.

Yakuza 7 is the best sold game in the series.

I'm just glad we're getting a new Shinobi game.

looks like they're huffing the same gas microsoft had for a while, wait a bit until it wears off and they go back to making shit like hyenas

I think Sega's exclusives could carry a system by themselves now. Persona is a system seller, as are the yearly Yakuza games

Hopefully it plays like Shinobi 3

Looks like it will be closer to III than anything else, but I love most of the games in the series and appreciate the differences. Even the 3DS game is great if somewhat unpolished.

Their direction for their Japanese based studios has been super on point, but their ventures into Western devs make me wonder how much of a hit they took. Amplitude seemed to flounder pretty hard once under Sega's control and hadn't put out a thing of value since Endless Space 2
So much so that Sega dropped them and they're indipendant again. Then CA... Really doubled up with Total War titles that sucked ass and a live service game that was sure to do amazing.

I wish there was more insight to how much of it was Sega's leash, and how much was the studio itself. It definitly cost Sega a pretty penny either way.

I still can't get over the fact how badly they blundered with Valkyria Chronicles by releasing sequels for PSP and just letting it die. VC4 was very half-hearted.

I'm actually not that excited for Project Century. Dragon engine doesn't look good outside a neon city

SEGA at least realizes when shit doesn't work and divests. People forget Total War IS making money with Warhammer games. It remains to be seen what's next.

Yakuza was never some crazy expensive series. Hell, reason why they re-used locations was to keep the costs down and release games fast enough.

It's weird that I can play the first and fourth games on PS5 but not 2 and 3.

Steps in the right direction. Just bring back NiGHTS already.

Hopefully they can hold on to it until we get the next Virtua Fighter.

They could just start releasing new level packs for Sonic 3 & Knuckles, only they hate money

I can never understand the minds of people who would want NiGHTS back. It had one game, a shitty 3D sidescroller with braindead gameplay. It has literally nothing that would translate into a modern game. It wasn't good, it was just one of the few things you could play on a US Saturn.

If you're going to beg for some degree of Saturn representation, ask for Burning Rangers. Now that's a game that would be really cool to see reenvisioned with modern design and resources.

That would be fine too.

And if we're listing pie-in-the-sky dreams, Vectorman.

Hyenas scared them straight, that's probably why we're getting Alien Isolation 2

what about their SUPER GAMES?

It's either entirely based on the asthetic/desire to fuck the jester or having played that Sonic Adventure 1 pinball machiene.

It was cool as shit for the time, but has 100% aged out of relevance beyond art design.

I can never understand the minds of autists

Super Games are probably just slang for Old IP's being brought back, so that would include Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and probably the new Virtua Fighter.

I just want them to put out a new Outrun or something similar. I'm highly skeptical to the new Crazy Taxi being a always online game.

I am still waiting on them to announce their new console.
Maybe during this year's Summer Games Fest or The Game Awards.

Yes but Sonic Superstars was awful

There are two theories about the supposed SUPER GAME.

it was its own game, some form of AAA GaaS or TLOU clone or whatever they had invisioned. However, watching what was happening in the world of AAA they silently cancelled the game and hope people forget about it

or

SUPER GAME was actually all the old IPs they've shown, it was never a singular game but rather, a bunch of new things they were working on

desu I think the first one is the most likely, the SUPER GAME was some form of AAA slop that got canned at some point and we'll never see or hear from it.

No, they were in a much better place early in PSO2's life when it was unexpectedly successful enough to become the main online game in Japan. That's why they're wasting so much on the "Super Game" project, because they have a live service shaped hole in their financials.

They said directly in their financial reports that it was a multi-game initiative to leverage existing IP into GAAS revenue engines. Hence the leaks of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio battle royales.

I will never understand how Sega can't challenge Mihoyo. Like they just stop trying.

they're sega

Yakuza

Last game was a stinker.

Atlus

Irrelevant after P5.

Sonic

Lmao. Movieslop franchise.

There's literally zero reason to care about Sega in 2025.

I don't buy it, even if it was on a financial report.

To be honest, not many companies could challenge Mihoyo. It's fun to poke at gacha companies, but Mihoyo is next fucking level. You could download Genshin Impact right now, even on a phone, and experience 500+ hours of single player story + exploration content, before you're ever prompted to interact with any sort of online or gacha elements. It was that company that propelled "phone games" from being shitty RPGs with flashing .png images passing as gameplay, into something that more or less resembles some form of gameplay that we have today. The standards changed because of GI. It's easily one of the most influential games of all time, even somehow surpassing the game they were trying to copy, Breath of the Wild.

When was it the last time SEGA put out a game that was influential in any shape or form?

Maybe they'll make one to go with the new Outrun movie.

With Sydney Sweeney...

Been going through VC2 quite slowly and it really does suffer from being a PSP game which is a shame because it could be a fun game it wasn't just more of the same with a Persona-esque school setting

6 units per map, despite the enemy being able to sometimes control over 20

Around 5 different maps for each terrain meaning you're playing the exact same maps all the time besides story missions

Avan required in every single mission unless you want to lose 1 CP a turn, meaning you only really have 5 units per map

A fucking random drop rate on upgrade materials assigned to each CHARACTER meaning you have to grind to upgrade your squad

Along with this Avan gets around 50 certificates even if you're bringing him along to STAND FUCKING STILL in a mission

Enemy AI can be the stupidest fucking retards on the planet or suddenly become an actual fucking threat and there's no inbetween.

I'm only on July but around 8 hours has been spent just doing side missions to upgrade characters and do their side stories, mostly the side stories now since I think I'm just going to stick with a few favourites but it's really annoying since I think it would've been better to just make them upgrade via the level up system anyway.

The multiplayer seems cool from videos I've seen online though, feels like you could easily blast through missions with a friend if you wanted to.

I'm hoping VC3 is better though.

I love Sega

I'm still annoyed they removed multiplayer from VC3 and didn't even try it in 4.
Yeah I get it no one used it but me and 5 other people to put all the work into it but it was a cool idea

No, because they're not making the kind of games that cater to me and me alone.
and even if they did, I still wouldn't buy them because I pirate everything. I'd just simply like the fact the fact that those kind of games exist, then go right back to my torrents.

I kneel SegaChads

709091043

709092968

Shut up Boco.

I can never understand the minds of people who would want NiGHTS back.

All the people I've seen who wanted more Nights were either gay or full blown trannies. Case in point, Boco is here and brought it up.

I thought VC2 had balance issues and a dumb setting but it was still a very solid game. VC3 is also great. 4 also didn't disappoint even if the formula is getting old and the trannylation is insulting

Game Console is coming

There's no way we got Tekken defenders in here KEK

I admit, its childhood nostalgia and really liking the story.

Waiting for Shinobi.

I mean making the creaters of Total War dwvelop Hyenas and completely alienate that loyal audience was certifiably retarded.
