New animation/model replacers seem to be easier than ever before because of unreal engine, which is very cool and good, because I think even the Skyblivion team struggles with new animations, this also means creating new enemies with new animations should actually theoretically be much more of a breeze.
Sadly my PC got filtered after I modded the game with maybe 30-40 mods, the game was getting damn near perfect too, but i'll just play it again when I finish getting the rest of my parts for my PC, it's actually a fantastic near perfect experience with mods.
Bit of both, because of the game using two engines, one of which being Unreal Engine and the other being Gambryo, certain mods are much easier and harder to make/port, it just depends on which mod it is. I'm in a lot of modder discords/groups, and new location mods/quest mods are basically just around the corner.
We unironically are within 1-6 months of being able to port the mods that unironically even add entirely new regions to the game (Like Elsweyr, The Original Morrowind Remake for Oblivion, etc)

Pretty on point, the problem is though, some of these mods are even 17 years old, and some of these modders are not around anymore, i'm not sure what the nexus' stance is on porting these mods over is from dead developers, because I know for a fact some experienced modders would be able to port a lot of these mods over themselves, the question is if they're allowed to publish them publicly.

Oblivion is still a mind-numbingly boring game. Mods can only do so much. Mods can't take away all the loading screens that are everywhere for everything. The leveling system in Oblivion is absolutely asinine, but there are no builds in Bethesda games anyway so what is there for a mod to fix? There are no bosses in Bethesda games, and it would be cheesy for a mod to add bosses to a game that was never designed for it. Oblivion is basically a game for the lowest-skilled and lowest-IQ players who just finished playing Splatoon and Mario Odyssey.
The only thing that keeps Bethesda games hanging around is the sad, pathetic, lonely coomers who apply sex mods. If it weren't for that, Bethesda would be long gone.

As far as I know, no. I mean it isn't a stable branch of UE5 but, the game still does crash a bit, obviously if you're not running the game on an SSD, you're going to suffer pretty much every issue x10, however if you're running the game on the SSD (Preferably NVME), have relatively decent hardware, running on 1080p, even if you completely added let's say, 100 new armor/weapon mods all with unique models, it genuinely shouldn't be running all that bad, and believe it or not, because of UE5, despite it's negatives, new animations, models, and model editing are actually MUCH simpler to put into the game.

I made one for Fallout 4 using the Bing's copilot, it was fairly competent about using the papyrus language or whatever, how good is it though? I dunno I cant tell, I don't program.

And yet every single mod video that gets significant amount of views for any bethesda game, is almost always things that either completely change the gameplay, add new locations/quests, or enhance the graphics, and this has been going on, well it looks like for over 17 years.
Loading screens never are an issue, especially in 2025 with an SSD, there are bosses, you can completely rebalance the leveling system to your exact preference, and fundamentally the thing that matters the most in a video game being combat being not only upgraded from the original oblivion, very easy to mod/change animations compared to the original aswell, I wouldn't be surprised if we get even further combat enhancements/overhauls, in fact, there's one mod called attack cancelling which surprisingly that alone already makes the combat feels much nicer and that's a very simple mod.
Regardless decent gameplay/movement/exploration especially in comparison to something as dust as morrowind will never be something that contrarians will ever be able to acknowledge.
I'm sticking with Skyrim, sorry.

That's because Morroblivion was a terrible idea. Oblivion's visuals didin't translate well into anything that is not Oblivion.

All OG oblivion mods look like shit, but remastered graphics, gameplay, animations could easily fix pretty much all those issues, with pretty much any mod actually, and that would fundamentally fix Morrowind's two biggest issues, which were 1. Gameplay (Combat and Movement) and 2. (Graphics) Skywind does the same thing to a degree, obviously that's far more of a remake than Morroblivion, but Morroblivion ported to Remastered would still be an insane upgrade over OG Morrowind just fundamentally from the things that matter.
