Be honest with me: is this game good unironically or is just loved by the local contrarians because its not popular?

Be honest with me: is this game good unironically or is just loved by the local contrarians because its not popular?

If it was good people would actually talk about it
Nobody outside of Anon Babble ever talks about it and even the Anon Babble threads are just spamming that brain dead chaos meme

Its unironically good, or you could just play the game and see for yourself. you muppet

It's the same dmcringelords that think shallow action mashy is a good game in itself or as ff.

It's probably the best real time combat in any Square Enix game.
Take this as you will.

It's complete ass. They removed everything RPG about it. It's a mediocre action game with extremely limited rpg.

it's sick. the one time FF actually had good action combat. it's what 15 and 16 could have been.

It's a bit of both - it's a good game with above average action combat, great meme cutscenes and some jank and bad production values, but people who say it's better than 16 or Rebirth are out of their minds.

It's a good 7/10 with the worst DLC Team Ninja has made unfortunately.

Nioh but worse.

The game is fun. However, my one criticism is you actually need to stick with it for a few hours for it to open up. I don't mean "omg it takes 50 hours to get good!" but you really do need to get 3-4 hours in and then it gets significantly better. I enjoyed my time with it. I did not beat the entire post game shit cause it was a filler game for me I got on sale, but I recommend it.

I unironically love it

KH2FM mogs it hard ngl

If it's not better than 16 and ff7rebirth then it's fucking garbage.

hello, contrarian

nobody likes your lukewarm DMC copy button masher. it tanked for a reason, 16turd

16 is fucking dogshit, what the fuck are you on about? there is no way you think SoP is somehow worse than that

It's alright. The DLC can be rough since it forces your ass up the difficulty chain to play the new stuff unlike Nioh or Wo Long where you can take your time, clear out a difficulty and then move up the chain along with character building being slightly more obnoxious in some ways (like not telling you what stats and effects do). That being said it's real easy to make yourself OP along with the Dimensional Rift being best post-game areas in TN's soulslike/diablo games. Even ignoring the DLC the story comes off as kind of meh until it hits and when it does it hits hard. You know what's going to happen but they still do it in a way that surprises you.

Seething 16cel lmao

it's decent
3/5

its mid

It's good but utterly forgettable.

removed everything RPG about it

What in God’s name are you on about? SOP is an RPG to its core.

you can overload Bombs with three casts of Fire or Firaga to make them self-destruct

Malboros can be set ablaze with enough fire, permanently damaging their break gauge and enabling them to use new moves.

you can cut tentacles with enough bladed strikes on enemies with them.

you can cancel Chaos Advent's elemental buffs with the opposing element

Giants/ogres have a weakpoint on their back that can stun them and give permanent break damage with enough damage done to it.

Bladed weapons can blind an ahriman's eye, but facing him directly enables his vision attacks (you can dodge gaze attacks by unlocking and turning away)

Flans are weaker to and take hitstun more readily from spells than physical, which probably isn't a surprise to final fantasy fans.

They removed everything RPG about it.

Think you’re confusing SoP with FF16. SoP has actual RPG mechanics to it.

He's just a yoshitpisser trying to lob the same criticisms of XVI against every other game "competing" with it.

it's great, much better than XV and 7R
I haven't played (nor plan to play) XVI and 7R2 so can't comment on those

It was like a game that didn't take itself seriously, but that was the whole purpose. It was whimsical and funny and you need some sort of

I’d say SoP is up there with Rebirth. FF16 is dogshit, though.

its only one of the best games ever made.

I don't know why autists are fighting or what they're fighting about. Gameplay is good. It plays like Nioh. It has a job system and diablo style equipment. It has good combat. The story is fucktarded. It is fun to play, has a decently long campaign/story/whatever and then post game grinding you can do to fight super bosses if you really like the game.

Better than FF16 in every way, FF as an action RPG done correctly and it's a shame yoshitnig was so obsessed with removing every RPG element to appeal to retards who wouldn't play FF regardless

First playthrough is great
Dlc is where the game falls apart and forces you to abuse invincible builds that one shot bosses
Worse still they lock the rest of the story behind the dlc unlike nioh where you can clear the whole story on the more balanced lower difficulties.
For reference, in dlc difficulties, enemies can dispel your buffs, become immune to your debuffs, have 100x HP multiplier, cause you to have double mana costs and halved mana gain, and permanently reduce your max HP each time they hit, assuming you survive the attack which you obviously won't if you're not abusing invincible mechanics like 400% knight affinity lightbringer.

is that sum HECKIN cubes????

The story is fucktarded

wrong.
the story is excellent.

While it seems much like Nioh at a glance, the feel of combat is very different. You don't have a stamina mechanic limiting your offense or movement, nor any ki pulses to make you pause after attacking, so there's a greater sense of immediacy. While you can block or dodge normally, your preferred method of defense is the soul shield, because it both staggers foes and increases your MP. Attacking immediately after a soul shield makes Jack lunge forward quickly to gap-close. Fighting has the same sort of speed and aggression as Ninja Gaiden, albeit to a lesser degree.
MP is the one limiting factor on your aggression, and it's very important. The bulk of your power and utility comes from weapon and job abilities, all of which cost at least 1 MP from your maximum stock of 6. You have to be gaining MP constantly to keep up with the constant expenditure, and the only ways to do that are by hitting enemies with normal attacks, executing broken enemies, or using the soul shield, hence the soul shield's high value.
The use of environmental features in combat is great. Weeds on the ground can be burnt and puddles electrified, dealing damage over time to passersby, while water will put out such fires. You can knock pillars or stalactites onto enemies, or knock enemies off of ledges to damage or kill them. There's a particular emphasis on wallsplats, which deal a large amount of break damage to the victim in addition to a long knockdown. One job even gets a bonus to wallsplat damage. Controlling positioning is highly rewarding, as are any abilities which can knock your foes around.

I beat all the dlc without oneshot invincible builds.

SoP is an actual RPG with some level design so I doubt it.

the further you progress the worse the magic parry gets and the better regular parry becomes.
the magic parry remains useful all the time though so its overall well executed.

it's basically a Nioh clone so it's an off shoot of an already derivative game, carried by a meme protag

I'd love to play more but the loot is fucking annoying and the performance is disgraceful.

action games with level-based stat growth, and stat growth in general, are a fundamentally flawed genre that only appeals to retards that don't play many games
crazy how the first 3d beat em ups didn't have any stat growth and were perfect, then hideki kamiya fucked it all up by copy pasting zan and adding stat growth and unlocks, and absolute retards have been slopping this garbage up ever since

also this game's gameplay is very simple to the point of being boring, but having stat growth in an action game is the real biggest flaw, fromsoft fags get the rope too

When you’re not sure about something like this the best thing you can do is try it out yourself. But you definitely aren’t smart enough to do that

crazy how the first 3D beat-em-ups didn’t have stat growths

DMC3, one of the games viewed as reinventing action combat as a whole, had a leveling system for its Styles.

both

Very few of those things are actual rpg mechanics so I am curious if theres are actual rpg mechanics in the game.

does the game have healing abilities? Are they necessary?

does the game have buffs/debuffs?

does the game have status ailments

are there elemental weaknesses?

are there aggro mechanics?

the game literally has all of these. what the fuck kind of schizo posting is this?

90 gigs

What the fuck

are there elemental weaknesses?

does the game have buffs/debuffs?

>you can cancel Chaos Advent's elemental buffs with the opposing element

Did you not read the post?

I was asking. Not saying it didn’t have them. Thanks for clairfying

Do you respect Jack's strength, Anon Babble?

One instance of elemental weaknesses doesn’t mean the entire game relies on them so I had to be sure
Nothing in the post indicated the game had a plethora of buffs/debuffs. By this i mean statistical ones as well as ones that apply ailments such as paralyze or dots

if you knew anything about games, you'd realize dmc3 came out long after the games i'm talking about, i specifically referenced dmc1 ruining everything in that post, retard

It's great although you kind of get the feeling there was some stuff they didn't get to do budget wise
You got that opposite, people outside Anon Babble didn't give it a fair chance because they couldn't handle all the chaos in the reveal trailer

I like how you just missed the part that said "reinventing action combat as a whole" as if I didn’t really know that. And beat-em-ups have had stat upgrades and RPG elements since, well, forever. Shadows over Mystera exists for fuck’s sake.

the first 3D beat em ups were dogshit, retard.

i'm sorry that you're ignorant, please play more games

I have. You still haven’t refuted me.

what did dmc3 reinvent that wasn't just lifted from zan, i'll wait

It's great. The whole chaos meme wears off once you actually get into the story and understand what it's all about.

Actually good.
Best Final Fantasy game since Tactics.

Yeah most enemies have elemental weaknesses and they can have a big impact on fights, for example there are a lot of mechanical enemies who can be real pains in the ass that crumble instantly to lightning damage.
There's also the full complement of FF buffs and debuffs and they can be pretty strong but I think most people tend to shy away from the classes that have them because white and red mages aren't as exciting as dragoons and berserkers.

one of the worst games i've ever played.

FF16

Lol

Better than Redditbirth

Already surpasses it

it’s fun and kenjiro tsuda’s performance is absolute kino

It's not that they weren't exciting for me, it's that I thought it would be a hassle to keep up buffs or try and figure out how to cast spells quickly while in the middle of a fight

It's basically Nioh with an FF1 coat of paint. Also Jack is legitimately awesome, besides the memes.

It is a good game. The start is a little slow but it picks up pretty fast.

why are you redditors always so asshurt about Anon Babble being excellent at pinpointing kino games?

it's nioh 2 for babies and it gets very boring like 10 hours in

Anon Babble being excellent at pinpointing kino games

I beat the base game + dlc after rise of the ronin and it's pretty goode. Though I made myself too OP for DLC3 bosses because the progression guide told me to farm 700%+ affinity stuff from marlboro first before attempting. Pretty much lost interest after beating all the content since I didnt care much about the infinite roguelite dungeon.

dmc

lol
good to see 4chuds are as retarded as possible with their bait

does the game have healing abilities?

yes

Are they necessary?

not really if you don't get hit

does the game have buffs/debuffs?

yes

does the game have status ailments

yes

are there elemental weaknesses?

yes

are there aggro mechanics?

sorta if you play with party members

It's a decent 4/10 game.
I mean, visuals are shit.
Art direction is shit.
Level design is shit.
Story is shit.
Music is shit.
Characters are shit.
It looks and feels like a really shitty low budget game.

The game's only redeeming quality is the return of jobs, so you can have a certain degree of fun with it if you're an autistic fuck. At the end of the day FF7 Rebirth is way better game is basically every way, including combat.

rent free

How good is the Summoner class? I have an autistic obsession with playing Summoner in every FF game I can because I think using actual religious deities and making weird fantasy versions of them for these games is so cool.

Good question, anon. It's their victim mentality I guess, same way they feel victimized by good games and people enjoying them, when they can't. See the morrowind mindbreak, for example.

summoner in this game just turns into bahamut.
if you want to actually summon a little shit to fight with you, you want to play invoker.

To be fair, even the lower difficulty is balanced around having that 700+ gear. I tried progressing with regular gear and it was almost impossible without cheesing. Even with the 700+ gear, enemies do a lot of damage and have a lot of hp

I have yet to play it (only played the demo) but the soundtrack is amazing. Naoshi Mizuta is one of those cases of a composer that gets better with time.

This game should have been a new Final Fantasy Explorers.

It is good, if you enjoy team Ninja games like Nioh you will find enjoyment on it, and the job system is fun. The writing is "cringekino", I honestly didnt care much about the angle but the beggining with Garland fucking everything, and the ending with the "big reveal" are unironically peak FF

pc turns into a fusion reactor when playing the game

Very good but it's badly optimized

There's an optimization guide for it somewhere that uses special K to disable a bunch of shaders, the most important being the soul burst effects

Combat is great, Jack is awesome and the story is funny at first and becomes good. If you hate soulslike you can still beat the game by making a retardedly OP Jack with RPG elements.
The maps and enemy variety for non bosses kinda suck though. Solid 7/10 and I know very little about FF before this.

It's a shame they wasted jobs on this turd because it would have been pretty nice to have FF7R's combat but the Materia replaced with Jobs instead for FF17. It would have been something pretty amazing in fact.

Our HEROES(?)

why the fuck do they all look like random Harajuku passerbies

Nomura is a disgrace

Because they're strangers.

I dont think theres even lower difficulty for that dlc since you need to be on lufenian difficulty to attempt the last dlc mission, though I think you can use extra mode which you can be invincible with using 400% knight or whatever job during infinite chaos bringer. But I pretty much min maxed my build after 3+ hours of farming marlboro on 120 heat dragon trials, I just deleted mobs in one weapon skill use which also gave back mp, and couldnt die because sentinel gave me another bar of HP.
Though the dlc3 bosses could easily kill me in a couple of hits if i dont dodge/guard until I found an opening to basically delete them or get enough parries for dimension bringer to last long enough.
I'd also say most of the bosses dont feel too bullshit except warrior of light(basically used knight to kill him with damage on guard) and the stupid fucking dino with guns. It took maybe two hours until I understood how to properly soulguard + space against his long ranged attack combo and basically wait for him to charge into me instead of trying to run to him.

It's the best thing Final Fantasy has done in the 21st century.
It's not the best action game, it's certainly not the best Soulslike or even the best Nioh-em-up, but it's a certainly a turnaround from decades of Final Fantasy coasting on successes it had in the 90s since the turn of the century.
