You zoomers ruined online shooters

Don't blame this on the devs, you people are the reason why everything is the way that it is. Devs supplied a demand, simple as. Before 2015 we had variety. We had

Arena shooters

Military shooters

MilSims

Tactical shooters

Movement shooters

Focused around

Objectives

Teamwork

Originality

Now it's

COD

COD clones

COD in open world battle royale with cartoony shit (Fortnite)

Focused around

muh meta

muh TTK

muh generic team deathmatch where no one even plays as a team or communicates and nothing else

You want tactical? You want coordination? FUCK YOU, kill, die, respawn, repeat in an endless meatgrinder box that is centered around

muh engagement matchmaking

to keep you coming back forever to buy latest MCU crossover skins.

noooo not my point n click genre, im a pro mom look i can point and click fast!

Nerd.png - 578x549, 377.29K

Matchmaking, ranking systems and all other forms of psychological manipulation ruined online gaming. Back in the day you'd just find a server that sounded cool on the built in browser, play on it, find it fun enough to favorite or find it shitty and leave. Active ones would always have their own culture develop around them naturally. Compfags were isolated to their private servers.

Like Unreal 2K4, CS1.6, Wolf ET, and Garry's Mod TTT. Being a regular on there rocked. Everyone was cool, no one gave a shit about politics and we all tried to create the best possible experience. Zoomers will never get to experience that kind of magic.

no the zoom zooms ruined muh sex life

I know who you are, but I don't know why you're here

noooo not my point n click genre, im a pro mom look i can point and click fast!

no the zoom zooms ruined muh sex life

The fags are out early.

This thread doesn't follow the Anon Babble and Anon Babble meta, reported for toxic behavior.

Now it's

>COD

>COD clones

>COD in open world battle royale with cartoony shit (Fortnite)

dont play any of these sorry m8

We had

You know you can still play Quake Champions and Quake Live right? Obviously you're not gonna do it because you'd get your asshole gaped and you prefer going on a muh kids these days rant on an italian pizzamaking forum to actually playing challenging videogames.

I dunno what you're talking about, I'm a zoomer but my PC was so shit I had to play old stuff like CS 1.6 and Quake 3.
All bootleg CDs btw.

Before 2015 we had variety

and we still have
just because the new games don't have the brand you are attached to, it doesn't mean they don't exist

your complaints are empty

I miss combat arms

i always favored projectile weapons, it's all a mind game and reading your enemy like a book

I'm still sad that tribes died

the problem is not zoomers, the problem is goycattle normies who started to play videogames.

it's all a mind game and reading your enemy like a book

aka shoot projectile at the ground and let splash damage kill enemy

projectile has no splash

what now

I miss Tribes Ascend with the Anon Babbleros. Fuck Hi-rez.
Titanfall 2 scratched that itch but everybody now is an A-walling faggot or just runs Altenator

Doesn't exist

You're just going to go on the internet and tell lies?

I miss Unreal 2k4

onslaught

assault

invasion

ctf

custom skins

server side skins

Zoomers will never know how much fun we had and what it's like to not be a cashcrop piggy.

Quake Champions and Quake Live

I grew up on Unreal, never really cared that much about Quake especially Champions when most of its modes were a variant of Team Deathmatch with matchmaking

Publishers wanted to assert more control since they want to milk players, thoughtpolice players and push their gay esports filled with friends of the devs who were allowed to run cheats. lmao "they outskilled u" with their wallhacks and aimbots active

friends of the devs who were allowed to run cheats.

Hell, it even feels like cheats are literally built into the game now with auto aim and aimbot slowly being dialed up the shittier a player performs. There's just too much inconsistency between matches now.

99% of games are just pointing at a thing and clicking a thing. Why shouldn’t people be upset that their particular flavor of pointing and clicking is becoming stale?

Before 2015 we had variety

no you didnt lmao
name a single popular arena shooter in 2014
fucking forthnigth is more of a hardcore "retro" shooter than whatever you nigger millennials played

Arena shooters

These died while zoomers were shitting in their diapers

Military shooters

You can play Call of Duty right now

MilSims

You can play ARMA 3 right now

Tactical shooters

You can play Rainbow Six: Siege right now

Movement shooters

I don't even know what the fuck this is, Titanfall 2? I think you can still play that.
For fuck's sake, why does everyone blame young people for everything? Gen X doesn't blame me for killing arcades and side scroller games.

Still a few good ones out there OP I like roleplaying in squad if I get the itch, people love to indulge on it and play along in voice. If I want a more competitive game then I play The Finals it mogs all zoomer shooters and should be the gold standard not the rare exception

name a single popular arena shooter in 2014

It's an approximate year that signifies the shift from millennials to zoomers as the dominant gaming crowd. It's not like one year arena shooters were in and the next everyone suddenly dumped them. They slowly just disappeared.

Meta Quest 3s. Pavlov Shack. Wear wrist weights.
I swear I am having a damn fun time.
Hundreds mods. Hundreds maps. Variety game modes.
SHOOT

You left out hero shooters and extraction shooters, two FPS sub-genres that have major games approaching release.

These died while zoomers were shitting in their diapers

Unreal 2K4 and 3 were still popular for a time outside of the years they released. Same thing with Quake Champions.

You can play Call of Duty right now

It's literally COD and nothing else.

You can play ARMA 3 right now

I'm talking about new games anon. Arma 3 is 2013.

You can play Rainbow Six: Siege right now

See above but 2015

I don't even know what the fuck this is, Titanfall 2? I think you can still play that.

Yes Titanfall 2 and nuDoom series and what I mean by that is it's literally just Doom and nothing else. Dark Ages looks stupid btw.

All games can be summed down to point n click, dumb bass

Actually that is how they died. I would know, I was big into arena shooters, but the allure of Battlefield and Call of Duty drew me away from them.

shitposting anon types this out

proceeds to launch an idle clicker game

boots up gacha on his mobile

kickstarts a tenth playthrough of his favorite jrpp

spins up a newly purchased (good goy) visual novel to fap to later tonight

I hate nintendr*nes so much.

All of man can be destroyed by scorn and mockery

Huntsman, Pomson, Crusaders Crossbow, Flying Guillotine

SO THIS IS WHERE THE BIG BOYS POST HUH?

IMG_1116.jpg - 480x360, 10.69K

Same. But the thing is that Battlefield offered destruction and big maps while COD capitalized on trends and current thing (war in the middle east). Both things arena shooters never really provided. Also no sense of progression. No social aspect to them. If you add Unreal / Quake gameplay to a game like The Finals, it could do very well for itself. No one has attempted anything like that... yet.

Movement shooters would be something like tf2, where your accuracy doesn't diminish while jumping about, weapons are typically single shot deals and there's a low time to kill

/thread
Matchmaking is a plague for online FPS. It causes so many issues that never existed before.

Arena shooters

That nobody actually likes unless they are already good at it. Players quit games over time, that is just natural, so a game needs a steady stream of new players to not die. But if it takes dozens of hours to even break into a game nobody is going to invest that time when they could just play a game that is fun from the start.

Military shooters

MilSims

Tactical shooters

We have dozens of those and you know what? SQUAD is literally the only one that is fit for market. All those other PMC/Operator games are so deep in the Early Access/Live Service hole they might as well never be in a somewhat feature complete state.

Movement shooters

See arena shooters.

Faggots are always begging for more arena shooters but every single fucking one that comes to market dies within a year because nobody likes games where they spawn in and get domed from across the map by some faggot who has been playing the game every single waking hour for the last 5 years. Yes, it is literally about skill based matchmaking.

This, and low population servers being the norm for public experiences. Look at Quake Champions. 8 max players instead of 16 or more. Noobs come in, get stomped, sit around in menus for 5 minutes only to get stomped again, and then quit forever. Low population servers = high skill expression, and when you're a noob who's trying to learn the maps and mechanics of a game, you don't want your non-existent skill to be expressed. It's demoralizing, especially if you have toxic teammates, which is also the norm thanks to matchmaking and ranks.

We've lost sight of what was important, and I say this as the biggest tryhard who wants to win every match he's in. New players are the lifeblood of any game, and you have to accommodate them and let them play on "Easy Mode" at first, which is a chaotic, high-population pub where you can just play with the same people for hours, voting for new maps and game modes right as one match ends.

But if it takes dozens of hours to even break into a game nobody is going to invest that time when they could just play a game that is fun from the start.

So what's your suggestion? EOMM or built in scripts to bring about a literal communist dystopia? If you put in the time and effort, you should get the credit, no? Maybe practice with bots in the meantime? You zoomers are always looking for shortcuts at the expense of everyone else because you have main character syndrome. This creates games that people hate to play

We literally had NEWB ONLY servers back in the day anon. Admins would kick any sweatlords on sight. You can't have that today with matchmaking

Maybe practice with bots in the meantime?

You are legit fucking stupid. A game should be fun from the moment you click play, not after playing against bots for 10 hours, reading guides and boards, studying maps, builds and loadouts. A game that doesn't have a good onboarding experience for new players is dogshit and doomed to fail.

You zoomers are always looking for shortcuts at the expense of everyone else because you have main character syndrome.

I probably fragged your dad on dm-crane 25 years ago. But that's exactly how i know that skill based matchmaking is a must for competitive mp shooters, especially arena shooters. We used to have noob servers hosted by dogshit clans or some official third party host. That's where we learned the ropes. Without really fucking strict SBMM you have 2-3 no life nerds going 34-2 every single map and that makes people quit.

How was he so cool?

WtUO5Wp.mp4 - 252x188, 408.75K

kind of correct but also cringe for rebbit blogging and not getting to the heart of the fps issues. in other words, its stop to stop posting

NOTHING HAPPENED. NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

Consider this though. Demand is downstream from supply and people will buy anything. If you supply something that won't interest as many people but then it's true quality is put in the limelight people will buy it, then it's just a matter of continued bits and pieces put out there to keep interest. Live service is also utter cancer, it's the most slop thing in the industry, it's slop capitalism, and it SUCKS DICK, if any company is going to go a live service route it better have susbtance. Take away live service and scheduled release slop and that will FORCE the industry to change, and gaymers? They'll fall right in line because their all addicts, so the problem isn't zoomers but the people pumping out the slop. We also literally do not need anymore COD. Shit is garbage, and we have like 70 COD games that are all perfectly good outside of cheaters. I'd prefer people focused on the things already made and decent than make it fucking NBA2k slop shit.

We had it all. If you wanted a tryhard server that kept track of stats that you could view on their website, you could find one. Wanted to make a foray into competitive, join a clan, and climb ladders on ClanBase? That exists. Bored of the vanilla game? How about a server that played on nothing wacky community-made maps and game modes taken from the highest voted section on the plentiful fan mapmaking sites that existed. Back in the early 2000s on PC, as long as the game had about a thousand players on, there was guaranteed to be a regularly-populated server that was perfect for you.

Oh i'm sorry that you actually had to read and comprehend full sentences. I'll keep it green text for you next time.

I know tons of zoomers that actually play AFPS games, while you niggers INVENTED the concept of someone faking playing AFPS games for kudos. I look forward to continuing to NOT see you on Doomlist or Arena.sh

AYY YO

A game should be fun from the moment you click play, not after playing against bots for 10 hours, reading guides and boards, studying maps, builds and loadouts.

It took you 10 hours to learn how to play Unreal? Halo? Wolf ET? Within the first hour you learn movement, strats, loadout, etc. If you had good aim, it should have never been a problem for you unless it was your first FPS. None of those games were complicated unless you wanted to do some trickshots. 10 hours maybe to learn every map. Oh and another thing, you could actually pick the maps you wanted to play and git gud on those maps. With games like R6 Siege, the matchmaking decides your map so it'll be 100+ hours before you ever git gud at any one map.

Without really fucking strict SBMM you have 2-3 no life nerds going 34-2 every single map and that makes people quit.

Yeah and with SBMM, you have picrel. Sorry not SBMM, EOMM. SBMM isn't really a thing anymore. All games are shifting towards EOMM for (((retention)))

Oh and another thing, you could actually pick the maps you wanted to play and git gud on those maps.

A new or bad(yes, both) player should be able to keep playing against other new or bad(yes, both) players for as long as he wants. He shouldn't ever be forced to learn the game to have fun. That is how you retain players. Which is also in the interest of the developer. A player who quits doesn't spend any money on mtx.

This whole idea of presenting players a challenge "school of hard knocks" style only works if A that player is really determined to get good or B has no other game he would rather play. Today that only leaves A because a player who likes milsim shooter 1 but constantly gets farmed can just switch to milsim shooter 2 and if he gets farmed there too he can switch to milsim shooter 3 etc.

In the early days of online shooters we had a group of friends from school we were playing with which fueled our competitiveness and desire to improve and we also didn't have a dozen "easier" games we could jump to when we just wanted to have fun. Like peer pressure alone forced us to play with each other. We had UT99, Q3 and CS and if we just wanted to have to fun we played RA2 skirmishes.

I never asked for this. STFU.
