A model requires millions if not billions of reference points to be trained. There is no way Kaneko could possibly have done that, it is simply not humanly possible. And it's hard to believe that a game company would have the knowhow, staff, or funds to create an AI model from scratch to begin with.
What they seem to be saying is that they TRAINED (not MADE, important distinction) the AI with Kaneko's art, but "training" just means adding a directional bias to the AI. The model itself is still based on the millions of other pieces of art that it was created with.
