I actually answered this in another thread but basically I think the game does everything well, but nothing new. As in it's a good nod to all the other jrpgs that came before but it won't revolutionize the genre. Setting up shit like Powerful on Shell/Rush on powerful and then making heals apply shell and using Typhoon turns into a good support but you could also just use Monoco and apply every buff/debuff in the game

then just start chaining spells with stain bonuses
or get dark strain trickery

This argument never made sense to me. Upscaling/frame gen is bad because it has BAD RESULTS (artifacts, smearing, input lag etc.) not because of some fundamental religious opposition to "fakeness". If they can make it look good, then great.
Anisotropic filtering is "fake angles", any anti-aliasing is "fake edges", all computer graphics are "fake", only results matter.

It's a good game but it's definitely not a 10/10 masterpiece. Act 3 feels a little rushed, they could have included little QoL improvements like the ability to save builds and I wished there was a little more variety with the soundtrack when fighting normal "non-boss" enemies. Also fuck the volleyball minigame.
