Not really, maybe if you never used any of the alternative methods of travel that you can find. The main thing that makes people say it feels too big and empty compared to DD:DA is not having an Eternal Ferrystone. Going from the Capital to the border checkpoint isn't much worse than going from Gran Soren to the tower with the Griffin and it has a village and caves along the way to check out as well as stuff like common drake spawn points
