The main thing that makes people say it feels too big and empty compared to DD:DA is not having an Eternal Ferrystone. Going from the Capital to the border checkpoint isn't much worse than going from Gran Soren to the tower with the Griffin and it has a village and caves along the way to check out as well as stuff like common drake spawn points
