the protagonist you play as is actually the villain
Any other games that do this?
the protagonist you play as is actually the villain
Any other games that do this?
That's not a picture of Maelle
the villain is the good guy
Prototype sorta does this but it’s only in the sequel you actually fight the mc from the first game
Till this day, I can't emphasize how retarded that ""twist"" is
Spec Ops: The line
Verso is just begging for sweet release, how is he the villain
He's not the villain ,he's just right
He killed millions! Dont you understand?!
Sensui in YYH tries to kill all of humanity by opening a gate to hell because he wants sweet release
Verso does this but to the painting
oops wrong pic
Renoir and Verso both did nothing fucking wrong and all these emotional females who can't let go need to be taken care off.
Also Andy Serkis is one of the best actors ever. Shame he has cringe politics tho.
He killed millions!
She killed billions
They are already dead, Renoir killed them.
Lmao you're right, Maelle wouldn't be caught dead in that fit.
Lying fifth column, that actively acts against the party's intent
Nothing about versos motivations are coherent. He's just vindictive and suicidal and trying to excuse it.
I have no issue with either of renoirs motivations.
Bro they living in a fake world that Mealle wants to keep going because she can't handle the reality of losing her brother. Verso did what any real man would do and make these emotional cry bitches realize life goes on and they just have to deal with it instead of living in fake realities.
Open spoilers like that? Why are you such a faggot?
What would Verso have done if Maelle actually left when he told her to?
The same shit
You got that damn right.
Lies, manipulates, kills, etc. Just to have his way.
He is a selfish asshole despite the game trying to portray him in a good light.
Then you shouldn’t have a problem with Verso’ motivations since Renoir essentially used talk no jutsu on him. Does Verso have other motivations besides the family? Sure, but it isn’t his primary motivation, his family is. He was perfectly fine with following along with Maelle and the others plans up until he heard reason from Renoir+Maelles lie.
It's time to stop painting
I was actually liking the game until that point. Heller and Mercer teaming up together to clean up the corrupt freaks doing shady experiments, with Mercer acting out as a mentor to the hothead Heller.
Sadly the ""twist" killed the series forever. Shame, because there was still so much potential in those games, imagine Prototype with current day tech and graphics.
The Infamous guys really got lucky, Infamous 2 is remembered fondly by the fans of the series. Prototype 2 will always be remembered as the series killer.
Fuck it man, it was so hard to just make a normal plot? Allow Heller and Mercer to remain friends, at the end, after Heller rescues his daughter, he could ask Mercer to remove his powers, he never wanted to be super-human, he just wanted to live in peace with his family. It would be a bittersweet ending, Mercer would get to see that not all humans are power-hungry manics, but de-powering Heller means losing one of the few guys who see the world like he does, further affirming his loneliness.
How the fuck they can drop from the good writing of Prototype 1 to this?
he has lived in a crumbling world for a hundred years that is littered with monsters and corpses of people who desperately want to save their ruined city and the lives of the population that is being exterminated. The callous god will not even allow him to die on his volition.
He deserves to die and doesn't need to justify his methods
How the fuck they can drop from the good writing of Prototype 1 to this?
Studio change, as well as the shitty comic that bridged the two series. It "explains" why Alex is now a villain
he let my homie gustave die so now he better enjoys playing that fucking piano
I did not care for Gustave

He's not a villain, there's no villain in the game.

Prototype 1
Both Verso and Maelle are horrible people and make their "right" choices based only on their personal selfish goals.
Therefore I make my choices based on my selfish goals and save Lumiere who deserves it more than the Pa*nter family. Now back to your piano for one, and the monolith cuck chair for the other, shoo.
Pirated the game, played it, bought it because it was so good. Very impressive.
Wait you pathetic baguette fuckers are really delusional enough to think that your shitty little low budget indie slop can win GOTY this year against this juggernaut of a game called Death Stranding 2? did you not see the newest previews where Kojima was so damn confident in his work that he let journos play for 4 full days up to 30 fucking hours! This has never happened before in this industry and all the previews are EXTREMELY positive, they took fan feedback to heart and created an absolute masterpiece over the last 6 years. Everyone loved it, even the ones who hated DS1 love DS2. Having the audacity to even think this boring le drama snoozefest can even stand a tiny chance against Death Stranding 2 is truly hilarious. Also fun fact, look at the X33 official site where devs name their favorite games, quite a few even have Death Stranding and other Kojima games as their favorite games of all time listed you fucking clown hahahaha
The Writers who caused the fire that killed Verso are the villains, but they also aren't relevant to the actual story. Arguably Maelle is the villain, as she would rather continue to live in the Canvas and play house with her little doll people (that she thinks are her friends) than move on with life. Likewise she totally forgot her original reason for entering the Canvas, to get both of her parents out and stop their feuding. She failed that one hard.
You're just wrong, both sides have people they care about, Maelle wants to help the people in the painting and her father wants to save his family. Verso is swayed by either side at different times, in the end he's just so tired he doesn't want to live anymore, he can't see any path forward that doesn't hurt someone he loves.
New favorite pasta
You can make the argument the people in the painting are as real as people outside of it. The only difference is that their god is just another person.
I liked it too, I was on the receiving end of it. It was a majestic meltdown.
I won't make that argument, that's the argument that leads to a Don Quixote moment. Where you can't tell fiction from reality anymore and start tilting at windmills you think are dragons.
That's a womans argument. Because the majority of people I see making that argument are women who don't understand that fake people are still fake no matter how real they seem.
he has lived in a crumbling world for a hundred years that is littered with monsters and corpses of people who desperately want to save their ruined city and the lives of the population that is being exterminated.
That's Renoir's fault (and Clea's), and he's doing exactly what he wants. Like what kind of logic is "Uh, I'm tired of you killing everything, so I'm going to finish the job for you"
kino area
They don't depend on the perception of someone else to exist though? They have their own self awareness. Everything the game shows us is that they're regular people in a magical world, but with petty demiurges as gods.
They seem to be exactly like any other human.
Was it a thread here or somewhere else? Would love to watch a melty
humans literally have magical powers to create entire worlds
I draw the line at creating life
lol
arch.b4k.dev
Turns out one of the schizos making anti-E33 posts and threads is a massive Kojimbo fag.
Along with this, the high quality Netflix series one, and finally a JRPG without gay anime, we're feasting on good pastas with this game. The (You) fields are growing well.
If you have their painting power, why the fuck would you live in real world instead of living in your own dream world?
Pasta aside, there's no way in hell this okay game beats Death Stranding 2. It's just not happening.
everyone who actually played the game and did Maelle's mission know that she's the real villain
she has crazy god complex
i know better than you. and im in charge now.
fuck this bitch, that cutscene where she erases Alicia was cold as fuck, and she looks absolutely insane there, not a single emotion shown, not even a single fuck given about Verso throwing himself at Alicia, she wasn't even looking at him
i can't being myself to feel any sympathy for her
Heavy Rain, Scott Shelby was the origami killer all along! WHAT A TWIST!
Get too attached to fictional people
It's totally different this time because they can talk back to me
Anon, it's time to move on...
Death Stranding didn't win jack, and was already a polarizing game for anyone who played. Death Stranding 2: Electric Boogaloo will be more of the same. And if Astrobot pulled out instead of Black Myth Wukong, then anything is possible.
Geoff will try to come through for his buddy hideo games, but who knows. Sequels get a debuff, and a spinoff studio indie game grabbing it would be good press forthe industry.
she looks absolutely insane there
She looks absolutely insane the entire game if you're not an autist and can read someones face
It's not illogical to watch other people fail at something and decide to do it right.
Painted Alicia wanted to die anon, and it's Verso's fault. She wanted peace and coexistence between the familes, but Verso refused to show Maelle the letter until it was too late, removing any chance of that happening. Instead he got Painted Renoir killed and Aline ejected, which was her only remaining family so it's no wonder she wanted just to end her suffering there
Magic isn't real in a game about magic
black mirror might be better suited for you anon
the people who for the entire game have been shown to be fighting for the right to exist don't actually have any right to because their god gives no fucks
This isn't a debate about the pleasure cube
not a single emotion shown
you might be autistic or retarded, look carefully at the fucking image you posted

Except that it is? Alicia still uses all of those "people" to live out a fantasy where everyone loves her and she has friends, all the while painted Verso is suffering and the rest of the cast are effectively at the whims of a mentally and emotionally unstable teenager. How are the Canvas' not pleasure cubes?
I mean the first one was a 7 AT BEST, even with the improvements i don't see it getting much better.
If walking simulator wins instead of COE33 you will know the awards are a meaningless popularity contest.
Because a pleasure cube world would only exist as stimulation within the brain of the user, it does not "exist" outside the user's perceptions, meanwhile in E33 the canvases are explicitly just magical worlds that Painters can enter and exist whenever and beings can exist independently of the Painter's mind
fuck you for the open spoiler you pathetic excuse for a human
There are no villains in E33.
Everyone has baggage and can be called a villain, or at least self serving, except 2 people.
My man Gustave is a model citizen and Ned Starking him was cheap.
If you're worried about spoiler stay off Anon Babble. Thats common knowledge at this point, you only have yourself to blame.

Fuck off you indian nigger
it's been out for two weeks, games get spoiled by speedtrannies on day 1 or 2. Go to other boards or preemptively filter keywords on shit you are playing
Nothing because he catches Aline trying to re-enter the painting at least a month later the fucking hag and then erases the painting himself.
kills her painted self to become verso's only imouto
kinda yanderish and hot...
This, the only based woman in the game was Clea who had to keep shit running while her mother and sister went full retard.
That's Renoir's fault (and Clea's)
Renoir and Clea are trying to snap Aline out of her grief and self destructing spiral. They say multiple times that she spent too long in the canvas and they had to take her out of it.
She was a bitch to her sister, maybe if she was a better sister she wouldn't have wanted to stay in the painting.
I know. I'm saying it's her fault the world is littered with monsters
What will Ubisoft exec learn from this?
That their games need more diversity and inclusion.

Is Maelle the weakest character or did I just pick shit skills for her?
I don't believe that Aline painted millions of npcs. It's hundreds to low thousands at best.
You picked shit skills for her
Maelle is one of the strongest. Put your stats into your weapon scaling almost exclusivly and just a few into the others.
I think you can excuse her not having time to coddle her little sister when she lost her older brother, bot her parents are fighting and she's stuck waging a war alone to protect her family while the other Dessendre are being retarded.
She's by far the strongest, it's not even a contest. You can hit damage cap with her an hour after getting her. What did you do?
Maelle is ridiculously broken and needs nerfed badly, even though she was just nerfed twice. Yesterday.
just mark into virtuous percée bro what are you doing
I mean yeah she was a bitch but both Alciia and her mom are akin to mental toddler heroin addicts and her brother was just killed. Tough love is still love, which she clearly exemplified in their first convo in epilogue
100 damage+ mark (x 50%) = 150
150 x crit (.5) = 225
225 x 200% for Virtuous = 450
use perce
9999
I don't get this shit at all someone explain the modifiers
What skills are good? I built all my characters with an even spread in attributes, and the other characters hit way harder, and had more multi-hit stuff that all hit as hard if not harder than her single hit skills.
She's so strong I just use her for running around the world for that great ass. But honestly in act 3 you can one shot everything with any character. She just needs way less lumina to do so
Games are still doing the "it was all a dream! And the people in the dream want it to end!" trope in current year + 10
Pain
More like "person in the dream wants it to end", the people in the dream are fighting for their lives
It's not a dream, and the people in the not dream doesn't want it to end, did you even play the game?
Only Verso wants to die. Everyone else wants to keep the painting going. Maybe don't be retarded next time.
He didn’t even really mention anything? Its like saying “oh man I loved the ultimecia fight in ff8” nigga you see her once and the story doesn’t get ruined with knowledge of her existence
What should I play now? I feel like nothing will be as good as this.
nothing makes any sense just spam stendhal with maelle lmao
And the people in the dream want it to end
They don't?
And the people in the dream want it to end!
retard
You didn't do the side content did you? Endless tower mainly and other interactions with the fading woman who is clea directly speaks to alicia that tries to encourage her but alicia refused to ever listen. Clea and Verso made the canvas while alicia refused to come play with them while she sat in her room reading. Clea is only strict with her sister after she went full retard with the writers and got her brother killed.
the only right choice
Fair enough, maybe I'm too harsh on her because I did rush to the end and missed some of the story. I just couldn't help myself from rushing the main quest cause I was curious.
Yes he was very good. Gustave's actor as well.
Where's Legacy of Kain fall in this? Kain is definitely the bad guy in Blood Omen, but a bit of an anti-villain in Soul Reaver 2 and onwards.
did she died?
Hi.
ludokino
Any RPG's with more mature writing like this? So tired of the anime writing of most jrpg's, it's too childish for me.
No this is gay as fuck
Stupid marvel shit
If you think that only verso was the villain i have very very very bad news for you
Oh and it's also not full of wokeisms like many western rpg's, where everyone is gay and black and complaining about it. It was so refreshing.
ur lame
Clea is unironically the protagonist of the story, she just isn't the main character and her storyline is locked behind the 3 hardest pieces of content in the game which is hiliarious to me that the devs did that. Clea basically tells Alicia to stop being such an entitled brat about the canvas that she never wanted anything to do with and Clea also has spent more time in the canvas than anyone outside of verso. So I feel atleast her opinion on what happens to it counts for something.
bitch needs to go home and verso needs release
In Verso ending, yes. She got erased with everything else.
Even worse, TRAPPED and BETRAYED (and died).
Kinda funny how if you're a Lunefag and given the option to romance her you shouldn't do it, because it's playing as Verso and just fucks her up even harder.
where the cosplayers at
It's not even a romance, she's just pissed off
I want to see Clea's cosplays. That barefoot + cleavage was too powerful for me.
I agreed with Verso in the ending.
Everything he does he does it for his "family", even in his ending he just wants his death to free Alicia because she's going to die there.
She's the main character but you constantly play as her older brother, and she needs to get out of the painting.
Absolutely beautiful ending too.
I agree with all of this except my conclusion was that they all deserve to suffer.
Renoir didn't, and I absolutely side with him.
Even in his boss fight it's just a stupid teenager in a fight against her dad, where he's absolutely right.
Verso did what Renoir couldn't because he loves her too much.
Renoir deserves a happy ending, was my conclusion of the game.
What do you think Lune's feet smell like?
People keep focusing on his methods over his aims
Yes he's a dickhead for lying and letting Gustave die. But he's objectively correct in the ending.
Renoir is a mass murderer.
She's basically the only one left in the end who is mad.
Sciel, for example, accepts it, because she understand she's do the same. I went into the game thinking I'd like Lune more but Sciel's personality and outlook was so fucking refreshing.
Most of the time you can feel she actually connects with Verso on a deeper level compared to lune.
people keep focusing on his actions
I wonder why.
Renoir wanted to save his wife and daughter.
He understands what a canvas is and what its inhabitants are actually there for.
Its humans are no different from gestrals or nevrons.
The vast majority of WW2 games that just has you playing as allied forces.
HOLY SHIT
how did a small studio get Gollum?
Smells like paint. And dirt.
She's basically the only one left in the end who is mad.
Because Verso and Renoir killed everyone else.
You can't just kill everyone who would be mad at you and then say that what your doing is fine since no one around is mad.
The only reason anyone had to die is because of Aline.
What do you think would happen if she died? At that point either they just burn the painting or Verso finally feels like he can stop the painting and that's it for that world (same shit with Alicia).
There's no good end to the canvas, but at least you can save a couple people from it.
I agree the Verso ending atleast the way I saw it was more of a Renoir ending especially when it shows Aline embracing him at the end of the cutscene, that made the entire thing worth it. I wanted to see Renoir get his family back and Verso didn't want to see Alicia kill herself in escapism making the real versions sacrifice pointless.
Treating the creatures and people in the paintings as just playthings is evil, they're the same as any "real" human. If Maelle and her mom wants to find comfort in a painting he should let them.
what a canvas is and what its inhabitants are actually there for.
Unironically that's like, his opinion man.
Just because you can easily kill someone doesn't mean it's moral to do it.
Xenoblade 3 in a sense.
He just likes to work
If Renoir just left the canvas alone, no one would have had to die.
The only reason Verso can do anything to the canvas is because of the portal Renoir opened to the place where Verso's soul is.
If Maelle and her mom wants to find comfort in a painting he should let them.
You are saying you should let your family do heroine if they feel sad.
Because the canvas is a very blatant metaphor for drug addiction.
Nothing actually stops Sensui from just actually killing himself or getting someone else to do it, so it's not the same at all. Verso even actively begs Maelle to do it but the dumb bitch refuses
Your wife being a drug addict doesn't mean you are justified in killing millions.
no one would have had to die.
Except Aline.
And Verso's soul was fucking tired in general .
Yea bro let the ones you love kill themselves over grief instead of doing the healthy thing and try and move on and live for the ones who are still there.
Anyone who genuinely cares about GOTY awards is brown. It's the lowest lifeforms of the gaming journalism industry coming together to pat themselves on the backs, you fucking clowns.
no one would have had to die.
You mean aside from his wife and daughter? Are you stupid? I think you're stupid.
There's no "good ending" in any life. Living in the real world ends in death just as living in the painting.
No it's not, that's what it is to you maybe. For me it's an interesting philosophical concept of created consciousness and what moral ramifications that has. My conclusion in the end was that the people in the painting are not worth any less than the people outside of it, so I sided with Maelle.
That analogy falls flat on its face because heroin isn't a world full of people who want to live.
Renoir should get a fucking grip, hide the painting outside your house you retard, you can't even pretend that there's zero value in keeping the world alive
Your wife being addicted means you are justified in destroying her stash and strapping her to a bed, yes.
His daughter never would have entered the canvas if he didn't enter it first.
why does verso fight his dad when they both want the same thing?
that the people in the painting are not worth any less than the people outside of it, so I sided with Maelle.
By siding with Maelle you are admitting they have inherently less value though, because they got brought back with wave of her brush and she can make them do whatever she wants to like the god she is (see verso).
If you think them human, then death is the end.
Because Verso wanted to feel the thrill of betrayal one last time before he died.
Because he's torn between both sides. He wants to save his family, he wants his sister to be happy. In the end he realizes he just can't make both happen so he just wants to die.
she can make them do whatever she wants to like the god she is
She can't.
Also Andy Serkis is one of the best actors ever
shame he's barely a character in this game tho. they wasted his voice.
His painted version is a reoccurring boss who spouts cryptic shit with it being left vague how much he actually knows.
His real version only appears briefly at the end of the game.
They hid it, but Aline was already inside and refused to get out.
Verso was agreeing with what Alicia wanted to do, because he thought she cared about the people of their world and would leave.
Turns out, she won't because she doesn't want to get over his death and lied to her dad, which means she wants to die in the canvas.
Verso won't stand for that.
She's a human with godly powers, that doesn't make the other humans less human. If you believe in a god in our world you probably believe god could resurrect people as well, he just choses not to. She does not control them.
It's his painting he can end it if he wants to.
o7
It's not his painting. He isn't the real Verso.
so how do people know about simon and clea's axon? is it stated anywhere in the game? i've beaten clea and simon
If Maelle and her mom wants to find comfort in a painting he should let them.
Hey, you know every character except for Esquie, Monoco, Sciel and Lune in Maelle's ending are effectively fake constructs of the original made from Alica's memory of them right?
The reason Alica can bring Sciel and Lune back when Renoir mega-gommage's Lumiere is because she grabs their chroma at the instant they disappear. Gustave and Sophie though? All the people you see outside the opera house? They're fake, Alicia can't recreate them properly because their chroma is gone. No different from Painted Verso and they'll end up like Painted Verso as well, realizing that they're immortal puppets made to recreate someone long dead and that their whole life is a lie. So they have to live it out in misery until Alicia finally dies outside the painting, at which point Renoir will destroy the painting and give them the release they long for.
Oh so now they aren't real people?
it's my painting and I'll die if I want to
die if I want to
die if I want to
Funny how what Maelle says about how Verso refuses to listen to what either version of Alicia wants turns out to be 100% true.
Justifying what she did for painted Alicia.
It will win GOTY and easily.
Alicia? A fucking hypocrite torturing a simulacra of her brother? NO FUCKING WAY DUDE
I was about to ask the same, what was that axon, since the other 3 are based on Aline, Verso and Alicia.
For maellefags too soft in the head to realize what they did: watch pic related
/thread
also xenoblade 1 in a sense
That axon is painted in renoir's atelier.
Can only be Clea's since her whole thing is shouldering burdens and Renoir is heavy handed with his metaphors.
axon who looks vaguely similar to Clea and who is holding an enormous weight on their back
Gee dude I don't know.
They did hide it and Clea even says it's a very clever spot but Aline immediately finds it and reenters because like a year inside the canvas is like an hour outside. So from the time they beat the paintress to the Renoir fight Aline had already found it so that was like only a few minutes real time it took her to get back in. Renoir got trapped inside a canvas once and she rescued him and as he says he is doing what Aline taught him which is likely destroying the painting is the only way to stop the addiction.
Looks like anime shit so NO.
I recognize the bikini girl from porn tho.
Maelle died at the end of Act 2, and I miss her. Replaying NG+ made me realize how shitty Alicia is.
Nothing about versos motivations are coherent.
Unironically you might be fucking retarded
Reread simons journal and then look at how the axon was killed and it should become very simple to see what god she got him to slay.
but what i mean is how did simon best it?
So everyone should just watch a family member slowly die? She entered to try and get her mother and father out because her mother refused to leave.
This is not true because they've already been gommaged once yet Lumiere was still a functional society at the prologue
retard
I fucking love Clea and how vindictive she is regarding her parents
maman painted a fake clea? fuck you, she's now stuck making nevrons forever
papa painted an axion? I'll seduce the original clea's lover and have him murder it
human life is precious because it is ephemeral
the human life inside the painting is not ephemeral. it can be created, destroyed, and even completely overwritten by it's creators at any time. therefore, the human life inside the painting is not precious, and it is not morally wrong to destroy to save actually precious lives.
will do
She's kind of a huge bitch in general.
Sending Maelle back outside would have made no one happy, they'd just be a broken unhappy family until everyone dies. In the painting at least Maelle gets to be happy, the rest of her family was miserable either way. And Gustave, Sciel, Lune and everyone else gets to live out their lives as well.
Not really, just blunt.
Her family wallowing in self pity while the people who killed her brother and turned Alicia into that are fine just drives her nuts.
they've already been gommaged once
What? Do you mean The Fracture? That wasn't a gommage.
Verso simply wants to control either version of his little sister for his own selfish desire.
A zoomer made this post
You know what? That's genuinely a good point, though it could be phrased differently to make it stronger.
In the painting at least Maelle gets to be happy, the rest of her family was miserable either way
Dude, she literally starts moving on in the ending and as Verso said, she can paint many other worlds on her own.
The ending is the family starting to heal, even queen bitch Aline.
if I arbitrarily limit what human life means it makes my mass murder moral
Dude, she literally starts moving on in the ending
Headcanon.
Not really
She actively tortured self-aware painted people for her own amusement. She 100% didn't have to fuck with Painted Clea or Simon like she did
in no way did i change or arbitrarily limit the definition of human life.
try again midwit
So if there is a god then human life stops being precious, because it could prolong their lives or end them.
It was probably pretty annoying to enter her and her brothers old playground to see that their mom had shit on everything and made a new version of her in a relationship with some npc that was pretending was the real thing.
You actually are retarded
I mean if you've read the bible then you'd know that God is pretty happy to toss away massive amounts of human life as he sees fit, yeah. Biblical flood and what not.
goes to versos grave and sees all her former friends waving her a final goodbye as she smiles
How heavy handed do you need it to be? Does she also needs to say
I'm moving on
for you to get it? She's also remembering Verso in a healthier way through a plushie.
arbitrarily
Sending Maelle back outside would have made no one happy, they'd just be a broken unhappy family until everyone dies. In the painting at least Maelle gets to be happy, the rest of her family was miserable either way. And Gustave, Sciel, Lune and everyone else gets to live out their lives as well.
Never felt grief in his entire life award
human life is precious because it is ephemeral
This is a thought you pulled out of your ass. It is not a commonly accepted sentiment anywhere. Specifically when you consider how basically every civilization has some form of after life or reincarnation in its mythology.
Yeah I'm not a big fan of the old testamente god. But I don't believe our lives would be worthless just because some superior being had ultimate power over us.
She felt outright offended by what her mom did in the painting.
To her that was the biggest insult her mom could manage, as she literally replaced with her headcanonned version of herself.
I like that Renoir at least acknowledges them as beings of value.
It's just he personally values his wife and daughter more.
all her former friends waving her a final goodbye as she smiles
Gustave is beckoning her with her hand. he isn't waving goodbye. And we do not see her face as they all disappears, only her back
Sure I have. I don't see how their family can recover from this trauma though.
The best ending would be the Verso ending, but he's living in torment forever because fuck him.
He's right to destroy the painting but god he's a cunt.
Does she also needs to say "I'm moving on"
Normalfags unironically need this kind of constant exposition in media, they're like little children. The fact that they understand this story at all is simply because they know that when sad music is playing, they should feel sad now. They don't really understand why, they're just trained by Hollywood and others to do this, like a pavlovian reflex. It's why you can show them an obvious caricature, i.e. a fat white man twirling his mustache while holding a sack of gold, and instead of recognizing it as a caricature they will say it's an amusing representation of reality. Critical thinking has been eradicated from their minds without noticing it.
if god actively created, destroyed, changed, or otherwise manipulated human life frequently, yes
sciel came to this same conclusion when she realized her husband could be easily resurrected
This is a thought you pulled out of your ass. It is not a commonly accepted sentiment anywhere
i'm certain almost everyone accepts this fact as a condition of our existence. if humans can be created and destroyed easily on a whim over and over, we'd be a lot less upset with death and loss. it's the ephemeral nature of our lives that makes it precious
unfortunately your IQ is too low to intuitively understand this before coming into this discussion
Okay but you understand that still doesn't justify what she did to them, right? Like...I don't give a fuck if she was pissy about it lmao. It was never a mystery that she didn't like what her mom had created.
Gustave is beckoning her with her hand.
He's saying goodbye, like everyone else.
Like Lune, Sciel, Monoco and Esquie.
daddy chill
Has no one really posted Jack yet?
Of course people would be less upset about death if that person could come back just as they were. Because they wouldn't have lost anything at all.
But that doesn't mean they would enjoy living any less.
She doesn't consider the people inside the painting to be real or worth a damn.
Which she's kinda right about, from her perspective they are all just puppets made by her mom just to cope.
What if she stops manipulating it after "fixing" what her father ruined? Does their life gain meaning again then?
look at me go
"Life keeps forcing cruel choices"
I don't care. She's a bitch for doing it and is clearly wrong. I don't know why you're going to bat for her so hard either.
Realistically, you are correct. Realistically just taking away someone's coping mechanism would just make them worse.
Thematically the point of the ending is them ripping off the bandaid that the painting was to try and move past it.
le good is ACKSHUALLY... le BAD
He's saying goodbye, like everyone else.
Rewatch the scene. His arm is pulling towards him. Which in the western world is understood as a beckoning motion.
while she sat in her room (((reading)))
but god he's a cunt.
Dude did everything he had to just to save verso's real family. Can't blame him for that, Sciel wouldn't either because it's understandable.
Sciel specifically said she wouldn't want a copy of her husband that knows he's a copy and not the original
Oh I get that path, I was almost swayed by it myself. It's a very well written game that makes you think.
That would have been the ending of the actual MC Gustave if he survived past act 1
Good thing she gets her original husband back in Maelle's ending then. And she looks happy about it.
Meh. It's clearly supposed to be a wave even if I can see how you'd think it was a beckon.
The fact that they understand this story at all is simply because they know that when sad music is playing, they should feel sad now.
Americans can't process complex emotions, they can only reduce them to happy or sad like toddlers
she's literally so strong the devs are nerfing her
Stupid sexy Lune's feet
mfw mom shouts at me to finish my homework before i can play video games
Next playthrough I will have to take more time building the characters well, I just wanted to get to the end and see what happened first playthrough.
She's still the strongest, just needs to gommage instead of stendhal which takes a bit more of setup.
I think Sciel deciding not to take his hand is her blaming him. Even if she understands it, she can still be angry about what he's done.
makes no difference what they'd want or enjoy. they can just be 're-painted' to not want or enjoy anything on a whim
the point being their lives are not precious because of this, and it's not morally wrong to wipe them away to save lives that are precious.
i don't think so, no, since their existence is defined by that mechanism
they can just be 're-painted' to not want or enjoy anything on a whim
Not by Maelle at least.
reminder that "Maellefags" are actually just Retardfags. Real Maellefags saved her with CHADSO CHADSSENDRE'S (real) ending.
Never let them forget.
Renoir is the only one in the family I feel bad for.
Of course, it's a complex thing, she understands even if she's angry.
Sciel's writing was always on point regarding ger relationship with Verso.
It's
monoco and esquie who support him
sciel who understands even if she doesn't agree
lune who flat out disagrees
It's well done.
They would probably disagree though, they seem to care a lot.
This shit doesn't make any sense whatsoever. So you're telling me it's perfectly fine that she eradicates an entire world because she "moves on"? This is pure fucking insanity. This is not a dream. This is not fiction. This is an actual world. The people in this world are real, lmao you are eradicating people from reality. This is essentially the equivalent of Thanos deciding to "Oh yeah man, you all need to die because of my personal belief and you all are wrong if you don't believe me" and then she decides to fucking eradicate all these beings from existence. I understand that this is a game, but it's insane how even developers consistently don't even understand what characters they are trying to write. Again, if this would be a cheap little "oh, nothing is real, and you are just dreaming wake up" it would be another shit, boring world and game. But the problem is, in the game, this is actively real. You are creating an actual world with that. Deciding to end the world, you are killing everybody inside of the world. Because of your own little personal problems, you erase a world from existence. In what world would you not be considered a lunatic mass murderer. Imagine someone one day says "I ACTUALLY DONT LIKE THIS MAGIC LESS WORLD, I WILL NOW ERASE IT AND LIVE IN MY WORLD OF MAGIC" and OUR world now is getting erased. Imagine that shit lmao. You are one day waking up and now all of reality will end because a girl says she wants something different. Again. This is real. Do the devs even understand what they wrote? The people are all real, to us players they are just NPCs but in world they are real, these mcs are basically saying fuck all of you you ALL are gonna die. Image this shit irl. Literally villains in every other story.
she's literally OP lmao
glad this move is getting nerfed
I have no problems with having to build up gradient as opposed to onetapping everything immediately
This game is basically an onii-chan simulation and if you picked Maelle's ending and you didn't save your imouto you failed.
garbage man shows up at the end
fucking kino
That's some good damage. My Maelle was hitting for like 4k at the end
yeah she can. Clea is the only one who can paint OTHER people's stuff, but the people created my Mommy Dessendre are all deleted. Alicia re-created them (and it doesn't matter for this point if they are the same or not, really) so they are 'her' painted people now. She can rewrite them as she sees fit. Will she? Probably not. Did she? Probably not - Verso didn't have the fucked up paint face Painted Clear had.
an entire world
it's not real
just like the matrix or star ocean 3
Who's gameplay mechanics did you like the most and dislike most?
B-but shes happily living inside le painting with le real people
No nigga, you entrapped her for life into an illusion just like her mother
I haven't played the game, I've only seen random shit about it
Maelle has a skill that has the same name of the festival where the number goes down and people disappear, gommad, gommash whatever
is this a wink at something, or is it just a power of hers, to vaporize enemies?
and what if they were all re-painted to not disagree? or to happily accept being sent into oblivion? who's to say they weren't painted in the first place to care?
their entire existence is not precious and it's of no great concern if they are wiped away to save real, actual lives
READ NIGGER READ
but the people created my Mommy Dessendre are all deleted
They come back.
If all you needed to control someone else's creation was destroy it and rebuild it then what Clea can do wouldn't be special at all.
She wouldn't even need to paint over the Painted Clea. She could just have destroyed her and re-painted her to be like she wanted. But she doesn't do that because she can't.
most
Verso, building up a fucking style meter based on performance was a genius idea.
least
Maelle, her mechanics boil down to ignoring said mechanics by always remaining in virtuoso
Also Gustave's were pretty shit because his kit was underwhelming as fuck in general.
he literally just said if you picked the druggie ending you're a retard and didn't save her, so he is asking why they are called 'Maellefags'
I think in the long run Verso ending probably is the "better" ending. However that is only true in hindsight.
Going in blind and reaching the point where you make the decision there really is no reason not to choose Maelle. You've spent the entire game trying to rescue the people of Lumiere, getting to like the party members and fighting against those who wish to destroy it.
Verso is just a jaded old man who wants to die no matter what the cost.
He's also the only one who doesn't seem to hold any resentment towards Alicia unlike the mother, and to a extent Cela does.
Clea can do wouldn't be special at all.
Yes it most certainty is when Aline controls the Canvas chroma.
Reminder one of Alicia's base skills, which she remembers and got probably taught by her mom is BURNING CANVAS.
Aline knows what must be done.
there really is no reason not to choose Maelle
there is if you have above 60 IQ and realized Renoir was correct about everything
Yes it most certainty is when Aline controls the Canvas chroma
She doesn't control all the Canvas's chroma. Otherwise there wouldn't even be any Axons or Nevrons.
She obviously repainted Verso because he had the ability to age. Aline painted him to be immortal and immune to the gommage. So yes it stands that Alicia learned how to repaint people as said by Clea in the endless tower about her having great potential.
there really is no reason not to choose Maelle.
Nah, going from Renoir's fight into Verso's conversation with Maelle, you have all the reasons to choose his ending.
Because he's clearly talking to a suicidal junkie like his mom and it feels like choosing him will ultimately save her.
Verso is just a jaded old man who wants to die no matter what the cost.
He legitimately wants to die while saving verso's family by the end.
comparison to Marvel shit
Immediately stopped reading the post after that point.
but she literally does, this is why Clea says
We cannot wrest the Chroma from her, but we can stop it from flowing back to her
which is the whole point of the Nevrons, who are sculptures painted by Clea in her workshop
They are not part of the original canvas.
Only with verso maybe. I don't see how you could ever do something like that with lune or sciel, or monoco probably but I dont play him much so I don't know how well he works.
She obviously repainted Verso because he had the ability to age
and didn't have his scar. Actually good point.
Verso is just a jaded old man who wants to die no matter what the cost.
Why do people keep saying that? None of his actions make any sense if that is his goal.
LORE QUESTION:
So Maelle is omnipotent? She can rewrite the world in any way she wants? Im not sure but is she also immortal irl? I mean can she infinitely live in the worlds she creates? Seems kinda hot that this thigh 16 year old is a omnipotent reality warper.
did you guys do all the optional shit before going into ng+?
I liked Lune's the most because I liked gambling for stains with trebuchim in act 1 also having the turning point of getting 100% crit and switching to genesis spam was cool. I liked Verso the least because it's just a win more mechanic. If I'm maintaining S rank, I'm already not getting hit, so it felt redundant to me.
Monoco has some extremely busted skills.
His roulette ends up being pretty fun, even when you damage you can support your allies with the
+1 ap on enhanced skill
weapon
but she literally does
She literally doesn't. And what Clea says about taking Chroma away from her doesn't contradict that.
If she was in control of all the chroma in the canvas Renoir would also be gommaging the Gestrals. But he doesn't because Aline has nothing to do with their chroma
They are not part of the original canvas.
Neither or the people of Lumiere.
It's hard to find a comparison of somebody mass killing so many people for such a retarded reason, also I meant the OG comic which is most likely older than you, retard.
you can see verso come and rescue maelle during the beach landing scene
kino
It's not worth it anon. Never stick your paintbrush in crazy.
Because they somehow overlook that if he JUST wanted to die, he would've done what he has been doing for decades now: nothing. He does nothing, Renoir wins, everyone including him is deleted, the end.
Instead, he is full intending to help Alicia, but keeps his cards in his back pocket. The second he sees her lie to Renoir's face and realizes she's just his mom 2.0, he goes back to his original plan to bring an end to everything.
Side character quests, yes.
Maelle's is the easiest because it actually feels level appropriate and Lune and Monoco aren't particularly bad.
Also maelle's should be obligatory.
So Maelle is omnipotent? She can rewrite the world in any way she wants?
We don't really know exactly what Paintress powers entail when you're controlling the Canvas (because the one we see is held in check by Renoir), but seems likely.
killing Esquie and Monoco so two bitches can grieve
Fucking simps
There is nothing new in NG+. No reason to do it before doing the optional stuff.
The aging is the main obvious point of being repainted because the scar doesn't matter, Verso says he could heal it at anytime but doesn't as a reminder of what he has to do just as painted Renoir doesn't heal his.
They want to, because verso and verso's soul want to.
They are loyal bros to the very end.
I like Gustave and Verso's cause they're simple, though Verso's is better overall.
Sciel's is fun enough
Lune's is whatever
Never really used Monoco much to comment on it
Maelle's was the weakest since you're always just trying to get Virtuoso.
They don't want to die. They simply accept it because they are loyal to Verso.
because the scar doesn't matter
I think that's what matters the most, it was his act of defiance against the paintress that net him the scar.
And Alicia took it away, because she could.
Based.
Fuck Verso
Fuck the painting cope
they know what he is planning and keep quiet about it and help him achieve it.
The devs intended for verso to be portrayed as the good ending. Even his skills all have to do with light and angels
I agree with you, I don't see why the people and creatures of the painting is different from "real" people, they feel and think just like anyone else. The only difference is that their god is another human.
get burn on enemy either by applying with spark or use lune
swift stride
flur fluret or w.e its fucking called and percee
sword ballet later
stendhal and phantom ability even later
cant go wrong
Im agreeing with anon, i just wanted to point out the retardness of maellefags lmao
Verso was O K but I mostly just ignored it since it worked more as a bonus to whatever else he was doing. Plus I did a lot HP build.
I still don't really under Sciel's gimmicks
Lune is fine, I think I was probably too lazy with it but it's easy to break at least
Monoco was another one that I was too lazy to pay attention to most of the time but objectively probably the most important since his spells got bonus effects. I mostly just treated it as a 'oh cool' when I got them though.
Like everyone else is saying Maelle is whatever since you just wanted to tunnel into Virtoso.
esquie supposedly OP as fuck
didn’t stop verso from nuking the world
neither did monoco
they knew the painted world was wooo deep down
Esquie talks about wanting to adventure with them forever
He didn’t know shit
Marvel comparison
This is correct and that entire family is psychotic. Maybe cosmic genocide is accepted and normal in Painter society, but it doesn't make it any less horrific.
Hm that's true my man.
esquie supposedly OP as fuck
didn't nuke the paintress himself
He was simply neutral about it.
cosmic
You literally brush up against the boundaries of the painting.
If they can be created, deleted, and repainted if their god feels like it, then they aren't actually real and glorified playthings.
Hell, they can only give birth because Aline paints it so.
not a single E33 shill thread has maelle in the image
All it took was the power of the white aryan woman to get that ugly fucking mutt off the Anon Babble catalog
I win
Accepting thanks and apologies itt until the bump limit
sorry buddy, you're wrong. I suggest playing the game. It's pretty good!
Thanos comparison
Mutt brainwashed by hollywood detected, ain't reading all that 4th grade mental gymnastics
did u watch the opposite ending to what you chose straight away or did you wait to do so after ng+?
if you missed him in the prologue you permanently missed one of only a few upgrade mats to get your weapon to max level
FUCK.
doubles your damage and makes you unkillable
nothing personnel
Again, if this would be a cheap little "oh, nothing is real, and you are just dreaming wake up" it would be another shit, boring world and game.
This. The whole premise of "it's just an escapism/allegory to drugs" only works if they are nothing but constructs in the mind of the painter, but they have repeatedly been shown to be just regular people powered by magic who want to exist.
If you just said "oh those people don't actually exist they are a projection to your senses, pleasure cube style" then the whole game has zero stakes, but if you don't do it, the entire family looks like Turbohitler 9000.
That text doesn't say
wait the entire painting is only Aline's chroma
So I don't see how it helps your point.
Again, I mean the og comics, but you are too young to know them. I'm german lmao.
I don't think something loses value because something else has absolute power over it.
then the whole game has zero stakes
This shit again, you really never get tired of this retarded argument.
nobody said that. I said she controls the Canvas, which is true. And she controls her own chroma, which she brought/brings from outside, which is also true.
I am sorry this is difficult for you.
I have only seen one ending. I'm gonna play the game again in a few months, maybe I'll pick the other ending then if I can bring myself to it.
Sciel, for example, accepts it, because she understand she's do the same.
She lost husband, the scar on her belly is a c-sec and is implied the child died during the surgery
She through the entire story the most "nihilistic" character of the main cast and doesn't give a fuck anymore if she lives or die but it's the last year of her life so might aswell fuck it around, having sex with random guys and seeking adrenaline thrills like signing up for a fucking suicide mission, afterall WHO THE FUCK CARES ANYMORE LMAO?
If every painted person is suddenly and retroactively declared a soulless meat puppet of their respective painter, then the game has zero senses indeed, because it would make the Verso ending undebatable the better one.
Which is demonstrably not fucking true because painted Verso exists and has his own agenda.
nobody said that
Then what did you mean by this
She doesn't control all the Canvas's chroma
but she literally does
Sciel simply understands death is something that exists, is there and you shouldn't be bound by it.
She's the character who GRIEVED and decided to do something positive with her life.
She's what Alicia and Aline can't do.
Maelle's ending should have finished with some thundering noise signifying renoir returning to the painting with Clea causing another fracture and about to start the loop all over again, which logically follows anyway
okay, so we're clear - you said you want to fix this right?
Yes, it's my fault.
okay, so you have to destroy the painting, okay?
Yes. Got it.
*gets overwritten despite Clea telling her to clam down and fight it off 3 times*
now doesn't want to do what she was sent in to do and wants to live in the painting until she dies like her mom
LOL Alicia
You're right, but the problem is that once Alicia withers away in the real world, Renoir or maybe Clea would 100% destroy the canvas. You're buying it a few decades unless someone can get Alicia to take time away from it.
do something positive with her life.
You mean like sleeping with every fucking stud she comes across? Fuck that giga slut.
They're saving that for the movie
It doesn't have value if you can change it as you see fit whenever you want.
The sad truth about the painted people is that if you agree with Maelle's ending is that they have no value since she can just snap them back to life, modified however she wants.
I doubt they even remember she's god.
Why are you finding this so difficult, retard? SHE CONTROLS THE PAINTING. She also controls HER OWN CHROMA. She has zero issue rewriting people because SHE IS THE ONE WHO REFORMED THEM NOW WITH HER CHROMA/POWERS
this is not fucking rocket science, holy fucking shit
Clea doesn't care.
But is what Alicia and Aline does not positive? They were happy in the painting, the father destroys it because he's not happy outside of the painting.
what is sciel is cleas doppleganger and verso fucked his sisters doppelgänger willingly
Inb4 you don't understand the meaning
This is retarded, I get what the writers want to say but this hot 16 year old is fucking up a entire real universe kek.
Did a woman write this?
No, you don't understand! We have to wake up and face the future!
Uses godlike power to nuke universe out of existence
Lmao, but Maelle is fuckable as hell. So that's a plus.
Continent level genocide then. We see literal mountains of Luminerian corpses who are said to be only a minority since most of them got swallowed by the ocean, who knows how many millions they add up to.
Clea cares the most about her family, but she's sick of them being retarded.
hell, she considers it safer for Alicia to just spend time in the canvas while she goes murdering around.
Yes she does, she 100% won't let her sister rot in the painting. Play the game. Do the optional story dungeons. Stop talking about something you watched on Youtube.
There are no heroes or villains. Just people having a hard time and coping the best they can.
There is no happy end for grief.
Is Aline one of the worst parents in gayming?
/thread
Cosmic genocide is correct because it's an entire self contained universe. Who knows how large they can make a painting, only to then populate, torture and discard.
Imagine a Sistine Chapel out of magic chroma
You could be a creation of something, maybe you were created yesterday with fake memories. That doesn't really matter.
SHE IS THE ONE WHO REFORMED THEM NOW WITH HER CHROMA
Are you talking about Maelle here? Because we never see her use her own chroma to create anything.
torture and discard.
This was a special case. This is a painting they all visited when they were younger to play and stuff.
if God exists and can intervene in my life then my existence is fake and meaningless and I deserve to be erased
People believe in God, miracles and the afterlife IRL yet they don't kill themselves en masse
She didn't even intend for her to be reborn. She thought Maelle was better at painting than she was. She is surprised by Aline's Chroma, but then tells her to clam down, it'll be fine. Alicia panics, she says calm down two more times, and then Alicia is overwritten. At that point there is nothing she can do anything more so she says
Well this is an auspicious start
and then remarks that it's safer to leave her in there while she's away on business anyways
sciel is cleas doppleganger
Clea's ''doppleganger'' is Sophie
Verso would have been fine with his existence if the mom didn't shit all over the Canvas, Alicia and Renoir and didn't treat him as just a replacement to cope with.
Ink and onions sauce.
be renoir
wake up
see your wife convulsing in a pool of ink pooring from every hole on her body because she can't cope over the grief of losing a son when the sister he died to save from the fire live on as a depressed disfigured husk
Yeah it sucks for Aline and Maelle The Sims save file but he and Clea wants both of them to live
did alicia contribute add her own shit to the painting? i like to think the cute little pink animals are her creations
except all the people she reforms... and the entire battle at Lumiere with the shadow creatures
yeah besides all that, sure
Which is to let the canvas be destroyed because he was painted too cruely close to the real Verso and knows that the real family should not die and let his real self sacrifice be in vain over a canvas? The entire point of the game is that no they are not real but that doesn't mean you can't feel bad about it real Renoir repeats it quite a few times "Life keeps forcing cruel choices" when referring to destroying the canvas. Painted Alicia's speech in the camp about Envying those who know not that they are not, she is talking about the inhabitants of the canvas living in ignorance of not being real.
except all the people she reforms... and the entire battle at Lumiere with the shadow creatures
Not her chroma. That was the chroma they already had. She doesn't add any chroma to them.
No, she's not a good painter anyways and all she did was reform all the old dead people paint into those reformed Expeditioners, and then bring people back to life
onions sauce.
Dipping Lune's toes in french onion soup...
Him and Clea wants them to live with them. They want to live in the painting with each other and their friends. They have the right to chose for themselves how to live their lives.
I'll let you continue to not understand basic shit about the story because helping someone understand things the game spells out for you is not worth it
Ubisoft copies anything that's popular (i.e. when they made a BOTW clone) so they might try to copy it if they dont go under
well this is awkward..
I will watch my teenage 16 year old daughter/sister shoot heroin and die inside VR Chat
it's her life
lol thank fuck most of you retards will never have children
Clea cares but she's pissed because
Brother is dead, presumably hasn't properly grieved cause she just wants revenge right now
Mom is going looney, locking herself in a painting and losing herself in her copium, which she apparently stressed to Clea not to not do that kind of shit
Renoir is wasting time trying to save mom who clearly doesn't care about being saved
Maelle's fuck up is what caused all this and now she's also losing herself to copium
All the while her brothers killers are still out there
Aline doesn't want to live in the canvas, she wants Verso to live in the canvas
Making shit up and then calling that "basic shit about the story" doesn't automatically make it so.
What will Ubisoft exec learn from this?
They could have given 5% of Skull and Bones' budget to a real game.
All chroma in the painting is owned by boy-Verso. Everybody else just snatches it up to do whatever with it. It's not theirs, never was, never will be.
k retardbro, no one can overwrite anyone, the game was lying, have fun
act 3
game gives you OP pictos that make the last boss a cakewalk
was still kino
For those who come after...
Maelle is a half blind, mute, burned, loving corpse. Why would she want to return to a world like that if she has omnipotent powers in this? Its not even a fake world it's real.
Letting people kill themselves because they are grieving is good actually.
No!
