Tyrian gets balls-to-the-wall on hard mode, I doubt it's possible unless TAS. It doesn't operate on bullet hell rules, you can't memorize the patterns of the stages.
Because you can use your healthbar to soak hits, no need to design all your sections to have intended solutions, and no need for the player to figure out how to avoid damage in all cases.
Bombs are also bad design by the way

That's such a basic response to the argument against 1-HKO system it's not even funny, dude. Health/Shield should be treated as resources, much like your precious lives and bombs. A player can still "brute force" a 1-HKO game by grinding until they memorize patterns or spam bombs, rather than truly understanding the mechanics. The idea that health/shield systems inherently encourage brute-forcing is a false generalization, because you WILL get shredded in Tyrian if you think you can "brute-force" through later levels.

The majority of games with a bombing mechanic can be played without hitting the button once, and without dying. Also the closest equivalent is autobomb, since otherwise you still have to press the button or you can die with bombs in stock.

Which mechanics are you thinking of that would be unnecessary to shooting and dodging in a shmup? At that point it would only apply to scoring.

It's the curse of games that are "pure gameplay" such that there really is no meaningful way to discuss them since the only meaningful means of expressing one's thoughts about it are literally through the gameplay itself.

Let's face it, you accusing of health/shield systems allowing players to soak-up damage, then the bombs and lives systems is just as guilty. 1-HKO systems can just be as bad, and health/shield systems can just be as demanding. It all depends on how the game is designed as a whole, how the game makes the player engages with its available mechanics, not weather it uses 1-HKO or health/shield systems.
I'm not saying any system is inherently better than the other, but you, blindly stating that 1-HKO is simply better because "it encourages good level design and pushes the players to play better", is simply untrue.

You ever played a game with the typical lives + bombs system?
Unlike a game with healthbars, again it's possible to die with all bombs in stock, whenever you die you stop shooting enemies/bosses until you respawn, you can drop power ups, and if you care about scoring then usually you are losing out a lot.
In a game with healthbar, getting hit means nothing until it's your last HP.
And that of course does not do away the original argument being also about game design, with the former it will be considered unfair if there is a section where you need to die or use bombs, while the latter allows a more lazy approach to level design especially if the health bar is maxed out at the start of every stage or before anything dangerous.
