The PS2 was also a DVD player, which was the primary way people watched movies in that era. Now there's like a million options for this kind of stuff and most of them free or cheap up front. DVD players were expensive, but the PS2 just sort of included it as a bonus feature since the games ran off the same format iirc.

Also, Switch is a Hybrid, not Home.
Since 2015, the demand for portable device increased exponentialy, with tablets becaming very popular.
Therefore, you can't compare Switch and PS2, since both are different products in nature. PS2 is a regular physical only, home only console just like the Atari 2600. Switch is far from it for several reasons.
If people really want to compare, be fair and add to the math at least 2/3 of the PSP total sales.
Nintendo's last chance to become the best traditional home console of all time was with the Nintendo Wii.
