While the GPU has already been found to be quite weak, the CPU in particular leaves plenty of room for improvement, with testing finding it pretty week, and considerably weaker than 2022’s Steam Deck. When running many games, this probably won’t be much of a problem, but just like the Nintendo Switch, it is going to keep a lot of games from certain genres off the Switch 2, especially high-end real-time strategy and grand strategy games.

I don't think we have technology to make a PS6 yet or even for 2027, not one that is significantly better than the PS5 at an affordable price that wouldn't immediately crash and burn and have no software because there's no consumers.
To get the necessary speed bump we would need 1nm chips, and these are being slated to be available in 2027, so there's no time for manufacturing and all that.
The logic of "new console every 5 years" no longer can be guaranteed because we peaked at the whole "making the whole mask smaller".
From 1970 to 2010, the rule was "you buy a silicon wafer for 3000-4000 dollars, and every 18 months, we shove twice the transistors in the wafer".
Now the rule is "every 18 to 24 months, we shove around 50% more transistors, and the price of the wafer doubles and stay doubled".
2nm is already a 30000 dollars per wafer, and it will only get worse from here.

General rule of thumb for emulation is that to emulate something accurately/full speed you need hardware 10x as powerful as the hardware it's emulating. That's not always the case, but the fact that its supposedly emulating that game full speed now should tell you how much more powerful the Steam Deck is.
