Is Skyrim really that bad?

Is Skyrim really that bad?

No.

With mods it's great. Without mods you won't even get past the first 5 hours.

It's better than how bad it was years ago.
Yes newer games are that bad.

You can play as chad and sexually reproduce with defeated female bikini warriors to spare their life

The thing about Skyrim is that it's completely amazing if you played it back when it came out when it's graphics and content were completely new. The only way you could have gotten the most out of vanilla Skyrim is if you played it within 5 or so years of it being new. Another thing is that you don't miss out that much because Skyrim is a Bethesda game and almost every Bethesda game is built to be modded. It's a forever game just by virtue of the number of mods for it and modded Skyrim is 10/10 unironically

No

muh zkryim bad

What are you? Redditors?

Sure

The Mods will fix it meme died with Starfield.

Mods are irrelevant to a Bethesda games success.

Best gaem in the last 50 years

You speak really matter of fact like for a person who has no idea what they're talking about

Anon Babble is now contrarian enough to pretend skyrim is bad

Every now and then I boot it up, add some stargazer mods and camp at night while listening to the music. I cannot bring myself to play the actual game.

Without mods = One of the most cherished and discussed RPGs that still see consistent discussions all across the internet

With mods = Greatest creation to ever descend on the RPG genre.

People will hate, but their favorite RPG will always be irrelevant garbage even compared to a 2011 title

I played for 8 hours yesterday on PS5
It's fun depends on letting yourself get immersed in the world. It might if you can't get used to the graphics/artstyle since they're so old, while it's cleaned up and runs perfectly there's still bad 7th animations and open world jank in the game.

a disgusting amount of gooner mods for Skyrim.

Been playing this game again on PC completely vanilla, no mods, and I'm loving it. I think the people who believe Skyrim is bad are looking for shit like good story and quests with multiple paths when Skyrim does better on exploration and character building.

This shit is so gay and retarded. Thank Christ Skyrim haters didn't win.

HUR DUR HAVING A SHORT WAY BACK AFTER FINISHING A DUNGEON IS BAD BECAUSE SOMETHING SOMETHING MUH IMMERSION

Stupid ass nerd shit.

It's better than Oblivion.
t. Morrowind fag

people want an a game that's supposed to be an RPG to be and RPG

yes. This is why most people dislike Skyrim and it's a very good critique. Luckily all these problems can be fixed with mods so it's saved

Was Fallout London a huge deal?
What was the player count for Fallout the month before it released?
What was the player count the week after?
2 weeks after?
3 weeks?
Etc
Etc

If you thought it was a huge deal it had no impact on player numbers.

What is your cope on that going to be I wonder.

Mods are irrelevant and you will show nothing to contradict me because that data does not exist.

why do various countries meme about themselves being black like they want to be black? i dont care if its a "joke" its literal black person worship. ive been to 4 african countries and african men are on average like 5'7 and 140 pounds and wear shitty polyester chinese button ups with cargo shorts and sandals. stop thinking they're cool or tough and wanting to be them they're about as cool as indians.

It's not that it's bad. It's just overrated and beloved by normies. If you like RPGs, there are better ones out there

Its a comfy hiking simulator disguised as an rpg. Mod it to be as close to your ideal fantasy life sim as you can.

I had a dream about playing it once and it was a really shit game

If you are looking for an RPG why are you playing a Bethesda game?

That is like watching a basketball game and complaining it was the worst hockey you ever saw.

Anon Babble is now contrarian enough to pretend skyrim is bad

Your newfag is showing.

That's one singular mod. One mod flopping isn't even relative to what I'm saying and you're missing the point. Tons and tons of mods come out for Skyrim every day. Skyrim Special Edition has about 110,000 mods listed and 7.7 Billion downloads split among them all.

Nexus mods has Skyrim mods with over 100 million unique downloads.
Skyrim sold 60 million across all platforms.

Nexus counts any update to a mod as a unique download to inflate the numbers to feed modders ego. That is the currency of the realm there.

Don't use nexus numbers in a serious discussion ever again.

I love Skyrim because I love the nordic feel of it
Currently making a vanilla remastered modlist and I'm practically done, I love it

THAT DOESN'T LE COUNT

kys

ae edition allows me to have overpowered stuff below level 10

IMG_0430.png - 1000x1000, 146.85K

If you want to count purposely inflated numbers as proof you have to expect pushback.

Or do you truly believe of the 8 billion people on the planet 7.7 billion of them have modded Skyrim?
If so I can't fix stupid.

Theres plenty of player choice in Skyrim, just not within most of the quests. The fact you can get out of the tutorial and chose to finish any of the faction questlines before any main quest line is a level of freedom most RPGs dream of having. Most RPG fan don't understand the kind of choice Skyrim is offering them.

How does that even work? Most of overpowered thing in this game are tied with your skill, it means having some endgame daedric or dragonbone equipment on level 1 isnt going to affect your gameplay much or turning you into some overpowered chud that could beat anyone instantly

completely amazing when it came out

No

holy based red poisonous pepperino

No, but my point is even if you eliminated the inflated numbers, the numbers are still very high. The point is that there is a large number of mods and a large number of downloads. I'm willing to be the vast majority of modders who play on PC mod their game. Hell, modding is so popular they went out of their way to give console players the opportunity to mod. If Skyrim had no capacity to be modded the simple fact is the it would not have lasted in relevance as long as it has to this day. Most Skyrim videos you can find on youtube are often mainly about the mods. If not, it's about critiques with the core gameplay which can be fixed with mods.

It was incredible… 10+ years ago

sorry meant to say vast majority of players, not modders

almost every Bethesda game is built to be modded

Fallout 4 is notoriously hard to mod thanks to precombines and other limitations. Starfield too.

modded Skyrim is 10/10 unironically

No mod has ever fixed the combat, or the story, or the dialogue, or the quests.

Imagine gaslighting yourself into thinking Skyrim is shit. Imagine depriving yourself of a really good time for no good reason. Couldn't be me lol

All the YouTube videos I see are about mods.

Do you understand how algorithms work?

replying to a tripfag

Newfags calling other people newfags is hilarious

Make a new Youtube account and look up Skyrim in the search bar and tell what the majority of videos that come up are

If everyone playing Skyrim on Steam right now is playing a modded version that accounts for 1/10th of 1% of the entire player base.

Once again you will find no data that shows mods having any impact on the success of Bethesda games.

Fallout London had videos with 250k views.
Fallout London had zero impact on player count.

Mods are more important to YouTubers than they are to Bethesda.

Also.
I signed in as a guest and got a lot of Is Oblivion better than Skyrim. One guy had a video about a CC mod.

It’s great and I will never stop saying so

Mods unironically make it one of the bests RPGs ever. But you need specific mods or modelists to do that. Vanilla is pretty lame.

signed in as a guest and got a lot of Is Oblivion better than Skyrim

Don’t be a retard

It is probably a bad time for mod videos now that there is something interesting happening with TES.

It's better than all the garbage coming out nowadays. But it was worse than what came before.

I'm playing it for the first time. It's definitely not a game for people with little time to waste. I was expecting more, honestly, but I'm getting through it.
What are some mods you'd recommend?

skyrim's animations are more PS2 tier than 7th gen. 7th gen had GTA 5 and Uncharted 3 with animations that are still perfectly modern feeling

So many skyrim mods are about pretending to be a woman its crazy

There are over 100,000 of them. Most people like graphical and QoL mods, but it all depends on your tastes. Even major bug-fixing mods have detractors.

What features in Skyrim did you find lacking or disappointing?

quest design

Yep, that's a shitty thing of Skyrim. There are mods to add new quests, but not much has been done on existing ones. You'd have to mess with scripts and dialogue.

If you want new quests, there are these major ones:

nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10917 (Beyond Skyrim - Bruma)
nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1179 (The Forgotten City)
nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5673 (Helgen Reborn)

There's also Legacy of the Dragonborn, which is very popular but I find it a glorified fetch quest pack.

These mods also improving the pacing of quests and questlines:

nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3850 (The Choice is Yours, no quests being forced upon you)
nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/52704 (At Your Own Pace, introduces breaks in the main quest so you can adventure without urgency)
nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/66666 (College of Winterhold - Quest Expansion)

There's also the Civil War overhauls that attempt to restore this questline as Bethesda originally intended. You would fight a war game through all the six holds and could even lose the war. The problem is, this questline is notoriously buggy and these two mods might lock you out of completing it. So I advise you only install either of them in a playthrough specifically meant for the Civil War.

nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/11076 (Open Civil War SSE)
nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/37906 (Civil War Overhaul Redux)

PS5

Yes, we already know you people have lower standards because you literally can't experience better even if you wanted to. I'd pretend it's fine too if I had zero access to mods.

Skyrim is that it's completely amazing if you played it back when it came out

*completely amazing if it was the first "rpg" you've ever played

Even Oblivionbabies like me recognised it as shallow dumbed down garbage when it came out

Just install Lorerim or Wildlander via Wabbajack if your PC can run it.

Jay Serpa has been releasing a few expansion mods for selected quests, but I don't know if they're good.

their favorite RPG will always be irrelevant

Who cares if you think a real RPG like Baldur's Gate, or KOTOR, are "irrelevant" or not, they exist and are much better RPGs. Popularity and success are such trivial arguments when talking about the quality of a game and which is actually more fun for the genre.

it's bad on console for all the fucking bugs, the only fix is on pc and it's a 3rd party mod

What do I need to get really fast load times?

trannies hate everything, including their bodies

NTA but i'm installing wildlander right now.
it looks cool but i'm bit hesitant after reading some builds are not viable to beat the game with. i'm also not a fan of the graphical changes or ui, i thought vanilla looked fine.

are there any other modpacks similar to it? lorerim looks like a bit much. i saw a few other modpack names thrown around like requiem and 3bftweaks, but it feels impossible to get a good overview on what's available.

after replaying morrowind and oblivion?
yeah
skyrim takes itself too seriously

You can download third-party mods on consoles if they're on Bathesda's website. This includes the unofficial patch.
However you can't use the console terminal to fix occasional bugs that even the unofficial patch can't fix.

The thing about Skyrim is that it's completely amazing if you played it back when it came out when it's graphics and content were completely new.

Not really, Oblivion was that game and probably Bethesda's last "impressive" game, Skyrim was just building on the tech from that.
