Personally my Verso is just an AP battery who does part-time DPS. Contorso is my favourite one because of the extra damage on crits (and how easy it is to have 100 crit).

But I was thinking that having a single party member as my "main party" with 4 benchers would mean that I get two backups: a full 3-party wave, followed by another single-party wave. This would let me use the "solo" pictos on my first and last lines. But is this how it would actually work? And how does the game determine who your first "wave" is when you have 4 backups?

There's a picto that gives you a chance to gain 1 ap per shit, another that gives you 2 ap when clearing a mark and another that gives you 1 ap everytime you get ap basically doubling the ap you get. I'm sure there are a some other pictos I forgot about that makes it easy to stack ap.

The game was written in french originally, then rewritten in english because the lead writter is chinese. The director is french but has good english so it wasn't a problem to write in english.
The game didn't originally have a french VA for budgets reasons. So when they recorded the mocap sessions, they used french actors but they were talking in english.
That's why the lipsync is slightly better in english.
There are pictos that give you bonus AP on popping marks or applying burn (once per turn) or just hitting free aim shots (although that one only has 20% chance to proc) and a picto that gives you 1 bonus AP every time time you gain AP. The idea is to stack all of these and theoretically you can get more AP endlessly depending on your luck. Some turn you will only make 15 shots before running out, others 40 or 50

The entire challenge tower, a bunch of dungeons and entire Clea subquest. But leave that for later. In Act 3 just focus on companion quests and then finish the game. Otherwise, you'll be overlevelled and you'll anticlimatically clown on the final boss and miss the spectacle.
Talk to them at the camp as much as you can, it's that simple.
The start of act 3 will give you a plot mandatory camp session, so you need to camp manually after that in order to unlock them. But that's it.
