Gaming subscriptions were a huge mistake
Gaming subscriptions were a huge mistake
Normal price of Oblivion Remastered, Expedition 33, DOOM Dark Ages = $170
Gamepass price: $10/month (finish all three within 1-2 months so $20 max)
hmm
no shit
huh, all these years I thought gamepass was $1/mo but it was only for the first month? i never used it so never knew
finish all three within 1-2 months so $20 max
Only if you're a NEET virgin faggot loser with literally nothing else to do, yeah.
SaaS is a fucking meme but game pass is actually alright. You pay a small fee to temporarily access a wide catalog of games that otherwise would be worth thousands. It's just like what BlockBuster used to be, but better.
inb4 you own nothing
yes, you don't pay for it either
inb4 your games can get deleted
yes, and back in the day a game could not be available in blockbuster, yet no one complained about it.
Is there a year sub?
Nah, Sega Channel and Gametap were great.
Game Pass isn't anything new, it's just the latest version of a 30+ year old concept except run by a company willing to wasted billions of dollars on it.
Just pirate it. Normies will pay for the subsidiaries you "steal."
I mean I work 40 hours a week, am single, will hang with a friend or some family on the weekends for a few hours. I am already mostly done with Oblivion on the shivering isles rn, got through the intro of Expedition 33.
Are you guys still seething about Gamepass? Because I promise you, I've played more games on it than I ever would have if I had to buy them manually.
what relevance does the top picture have? sony also has a subscription service
For some reason there are a contingent of extreme valve fans here that literally throw an autism fit if you get a game on a different platform from Steam.
i seriously don't know what xbox/phil was thinking offering a service where players can play games for a fraction of the price of what they're worth. no wonder xbox is circling the drain.
Gamepass is amazing. Now go boot up your $100 doom early access.
No, they aren't; the mistake was the people using it. Services sustain on use, not just payment.
There was a trick to keep it like that but apparently microsoft killed it
GOOD
MORNING
SAAAAAAAAAAAAARRR
how is this any different than a renting at blockbuster
That was most likely MS' president, the indian guy, GP screams "listen you little shit; get me profits or I'm cutting out your waste of money of a division and you're all on the street". Despite what GP is, it's actually the only smart thing xbox has done since 360's Peter Moore era; they got an actual plan and clear direction from the get go
Pirate or buy your game on a discounted price. /thread
online multiplayer though
Play PC.
I bought oblivion for like 5 dollars years ago. Don't care for the other two.
price of having access to oblivion for 10+ years
5 dollars
price of having access to oblivion for 2 months
20 dollars
poorfag or poorfag-sympathizer hands typed this
Game subs suck because eventually these games will only be available on sub and then cloud only.
Digital vs physical is the biggest meme debate in consumer rights of all time. The only thing that matters is DRM vs no DRM. If a game doesn't have DRM but is digital only it will still be available in the future when archived.
An encrypted dump from physical disk of a console game will forever remain unplayable when the last console breaks (or becomes so rare it's prohibitively expensive) because the console itself is a form of hardware DRM.
DRM shouldn't be a thing but the reality is that piracy isn't nonexistent and it's only fair that publishers try to defend their intellectual property. I think the most reasonable middle ground would be the removal of all DRM so people can archive freely but they would go hard after sites that host pirated content. This would curb piracy quite a bit without paying customers needing to be annoyed with obnoxious DRM.
On the other hand we've seen this strategy tried in other places where it failed miserably.
Maybe DRM should really not be allowed and publishers be told to pound sand? I don't think piracy could get so rampant as to kill the industry. Most normies are too retarded to pirate anything in the first place.
It's really hard to tell. Either way, cloud is the worst thing that can happen to gaming and game pass subs trail too closely behind that idea. I guess it's cool for poorfags who just want to play the latest slop and forget about it a week later.
I prepaid for 3 years of goy pass when I first goty PC on 2022. It ran out and I haven't renewed and never will. It's nice to have but once it runs out you don't care.
I work full time, exercise regularly and do other stuff besides gaming and I rarely finish less than 2 games a month. It just sounds like a skill issue. Or you play too many shit games with 100h of filler content like Persona or AssCreed.
I just launch the MS gamepass version of COE33 from steam. EZPZ.
I'm never using goypass because you need to install Microsoft and Xbox bloatware for this shit to work.
I'm running a massively debloated Windows 11 LTSC and only get games on Steam. I'll switch to Linux once nvidia drivers are fixed on the freetard OS and you don't lose 30% perf in every DX12 game.
I'm in the same boat (except W10 LTSC)
If I want to be a cheapass for games then I'll just pirate, MS losing my $1 isn't going to hurt them even if I gave a shit about that awful company.
I'm not holding my breath about nvidia drivers though, they've completely checked out of gaming at this point. I just want AMD to become a more viable alternative, both in gaming and AI coom.
Some games on goy pass have denuvo tho
Yeah and I'm a multimillionaire fucking your mom hourly. Lying larping faggot.
Personally the extremely few denuvo games I care about are covered by switch emulation and a hacked PS4.
There's always that russian discord group that shares denuvo activations for free if you're that desperate to play AAA denuvo stutterfests though
bad bot
not even him but I go to the gym 7.5 hours per week. you should be more active, it will help your brain
Cost to own Oblivion Remastered for the rest of your life: $50
Cost to access Oblivion Remastered through Game Pass for one year: $120
uhhh anon, where do you think you are???
ok? you know most of us are like this right?
He's implying GP is a one time purchase
I dont replay games. I just finish the main story once and move on to consume something else
You guys realize you play multiple games, right..?
No. Retards who pay for gaming subscriptions were the mistake. They could have a tier where someone comes to your house and kicks you in the sack repeatedly and someone would pay for it.
You guys realize you play multiple games, right..? Just this month alone is Expedition 33, Blue Prince and Doom.
The hate is so forced.
The minute you stop paying for Game Pass all of those games evaporate.
It is not forced to value ownership.
Yeah, I don't get why there's such a kerfuffle over what is just basic video game rental that we've had for ages. Hell, this isn't really all that much different than Gamefly, and nobody has ever raised a stink about that service--that still continues to this day.
Granted, that's in the case of companies like Microsoft. Real scumbags like Nintendo have already been pulling shenanigans, like making Nintendo Online exclusive games, or refusing to let Virtual Console be on the Switch/Switch 2 in order to ignore any existing purchases and instead make you sub to play the same ROMs you already own from the Wii/Wii U era.
rental service let's you rent games
Woah!
multiple games
That's one way to gloss it over. You're deluding yourself because barely even play one and move onto other games like you have adhd, in the end you're paying for a glorified test plays with a time limit.
Cope as hate all you want, you still are being extremely bad at being cost effective and that's leaving out being a terrible spender when you only treat games as disposable products... but I understand this since modern gaming is not worth the time
The moment your internet connection goes down or Valve gets hacked or goes out of business or you catch a ban all your PC games get stolen forever.
Don't forget a very expensive rental service
value ownership
Cool, so you are a physical only Nintendo chad right?
i will pirate before i pay a subscription fee
valve bloatware good
microsoft bloatware bad
if valve just vanished overnight, there would be a universal steam crack released within 24 hours
15-20 bucks
expensive
lol wait until you find out how much a single game rental was, zoomer.
Shill thread
he paid more than $5 for his weekly rental
You got ripped off, bro
That's why I play on consoles
Game companies can't steal the disc off my shelf.
Only if you're a NEET virgin faggot loser with literally nothing else to do, yeah.
People saying this shit while their entire social life is sitting on Anon Babble kek.
I'm in this same boat. Mine expires this month. But I just can't be bothered to care tbqh. I just bought Expedition 33 and Oblivion remastered on Steam because fuck it. I'll probably buy Doom too if it turns out to be not shit.
pirate all 3
they renamed Gold and gave it a downgraded gamepass function that we never asked for. erasing a brand name from over 20 years ago seems like an omen of future changes. like no more disc drives.
Maybe for or to you. I'm old enough to remember blockbusters 30 days 1 game at a time deals.
Preference for physical media is on the rise recently, across all media. Subscriptions and streaming services are on the way out. People are getting sick of the digital life.
They're certainly going to try to get rid of discs. But it won't work.
Steam
Nintendo's Satellaview
Sega Channel
Atari Gameline
Raptr
No, it's legit expensive as put in example. GP is only "worth" in ocassional short bursts when you have all the time, as in neet mode, to squeeze the money's worth out of it. Personally I wouldn't even bother with digital unless it's 100% contained to the platform/storage media I'm buying it
Subscriptions are designed for families but most people are single and childfree, with Subscriptions you are wasting money in unused members.
They're certainly going to try to get rid of discs. But it won't work.
This WILL work. Consumers are that retarded + discs right after DVDs lost their purpose (when data sizes got too big for the same size of storage media and pretty much same flaws and weaknesses).
Preference for physical media is on the rise recently, across all media. Subscriptions and streaming services are on the way out. People are getting sick of the digital life
One can only hope, people already dipped too much in such a short time when they were novelty
It is a rental service. You can still buy games.
Steam isn't a sub service; they handle digital licenses
Subscriptions are designed for families but most people are single and childfree
Subscriptions have no target by definition. They just exist to provide to people their service baiting for sunk cost.
Which makes it even more expensive
Fell for GP
Entered through the $1 deal
Kept going
2 years in at $10 a month = $240 at its lowest
Decide to buy a game in there
Gets a minimal discount due the sub
Game goes from $80 to $40 at best
Now it's $281 at best with imaginary ownership
You're still on GP so need to add $10 in less than 30 days
This is ignoring microtransactions and general paid dlc
If you're into GP; you're not about buying games in there, this is why it destroyed xbox's software selling capacity. It wouldn't be that bad if the quality was good but then again, it's modern gaming. Xbox related modern gaming so it's quite low
As long as piracy exists I'll do it
I already replied to this exact reply that was summed up with a single reaction image, newfag. Kill yourself, genetic dead end trash.
The Xbox/game pass app UI is so shit. Microsoft needs to get their shit together
Deal breaker for me is that the games don't come with DLC included. There's no way I'm paying a sub to not own my games but I still have to pay full price for DLC. For games I do not own.
Pictured above
30GB install that needs 170GB of downloads to even be functional
Except it is not full price if you are subbed. You will take the 10% discount and buy the DLC now or else.
Nigger I make $281 in a day. What the fuck is up with dipshits like you trying to manage my money like you know shit. Get fucked, loser.
What level of delusion is this?
you first nigger
cost: free bitch
I'm actually thinking of buying this just to play expedition 33
Game pass has paid for itself every month; brand new retail games for $20 a month.
No I don't give a shit about collecting plastic. I'm here to play fucking video games.
but what if they remove the game
Then I'll buy it, they put games leaving game pass on sale. If I don't like it I'll wait for a better sale.
this. i always forget that V is filled with snoy shills who force xbox hate. eh guys, you lost another exclusive to PC today
kek
