Ori and the Will of the Wisps has been a total surprise. The first was alright, but this one I dare say it's better than Hollowknight.

Astlibra
Baldr Sky
Void Stranger
Roottrees are dead
Expedition 33

Ostranauts
Filcher
My Summer Car
Voices of The Void
Death Stranding

it was very pretty, fun to play not mention really good combat for the game of it's kind. after a pointed i just wanted more combat trials

ready or not

There are three ways to have fun with RoN.

because you have friends and you want to be "echo-bravo-holding-angle-roger" with them

because you really love the gameplay and want to run it over and over in different loadouts, going solo and with mods

you really enjoy the commander mode and want to see all the game has to offer.

The first probably gets you the most. The second is great too especially with mods getting more sophisticated. But three gets you between 12 and 16 hours of fun. You play every mission once and that's it because there is no point replaying them, again, unless you just really love the gameplay.

The teammate mechanic of the commander mode(campaign) barely exists, is incredibly bare bones and rather meaningless. Unlocking gear is meaningless too because the game leans into the realism of a SWAT team so you are, first and foremost, law enforcement and not specops soldiers. That means no snipers because your sniper is sitting with his spotter on a vantage point and not in the middle of the hallway waiting for the weapons free call. That also means no LMGs because you are not sending a dozen 10 round bursts through a wall where you expect an enemy to be, you are not providing covering fire for an advance. It's 5.56 carbines, 12 gauge shotguns and pistol caliber pistols and sub guns because, in theory(not that the game would actually make use of it), you have to worry about over penetration. You're getting NVGs and body armor, nine bangs and other less than lethal gear. The customization is meaningless because the game is in first person. You never see the different uniforms, the tattoos, the camos and sunglasses and whatnot are all pointless. They only exist to have something to unlock by beating the missions under certain parameters.

Again, you're law enforcement. Ideally you announce your presence at the scene and all the suspects follow your instructions with full cooperation.

What this game needs more flesh on the bones.

DS is really good for right people in right mood

Meh, it was fun for like 20 minutes but honestly I just went back to Swat 4. I sincerely can't get behind shit like this anymore.

I had played it at launch and got filtered like everyone else who did. Picked it up again a few months ago and fell in love. Super simple mechanics too for me to had dropped it so quickly initially.

falling into the river and lose your deliveries downstream

Was enough for me to stop the first time. Fell twice in my entire playthrough the second time.

From what I've played recently

Flyknight

Parasite Eve

Expedition 33

second for me personally
s is a slog and too annoying so i am fine with A+

For what tho? Bragging rights? For the challenge?

Ostranauts

I bought it to support the lad, as I loved Neo Scavenger, but have been waiting to play it until it's released. Is it solid enough right now?

Binary domain
Astlibra
Mafia 2
Dustforce
I played these with 0 expectations and still regularly think about them

for myself. killing everyone would be too easy.
asking them to drop the weapons on top of my lungs while their friend is shooting at me is really peak swat experience

There's a thread on vrpg with some info on how it plays if you'd want to look. But yeah, it's an all time favorite of mine now. Definitely worth getting into (steep learning curve though)

Cool. I wonder if the controls would be easy to play on the deck. Just got one and haven't put it down

I've no idea. It's a lot of clicking around, in fact it's mostly clicking around except using [ and ] to change time speeds, x for damage and l for showing electricity. I'm sure there's other keys I'm forgetting also but not much else. Not sure if the steam deck has control mapping options or if this has gamepad support.

Word. I'll wait until I feel like hopping back on PC then. I only fooled around with it for a few minutes but it seemed cool

Definitely massively deep. Only complaint is some lag issues after playing a while and that you CANT UNDOCK WITHOUT PAYING YOUR FINES AAAAAAAH I just want to be a criminal on the run.

For me that novelty wore off real fast. I need a way deeper system for that to be fun long term.

suspect resisting can wrestle him to the ground

can stab him with the rifle barrel

use 5000 lumen strobe light to blind suspect

misconduct hearing can lead to a suspension

overpenetration should be a thing possibly leading to casualties

have the opportunity to pocket some of seized money

post-mission consequences like if you pull off a mission especially well a benefactor might donate to the department which allows you buy better gear

squad mates abilities SIGNIFICANTLY improve from mission to mission so it actually matters if they die or quit

This game needs more, so fucking more, than just some missions to be fun and engaging. Like the basic gameplay is fun for a couple hours but it's like nowhere near finished.

Teardown
Due Process
Intravenous
Intruder
Minion Masters (before 2.0 patch)
Splitgate
Halo Infinite Multiplayer

Personally I just have it modded to shit to just give me everything and relax RoE then only play missions that SWAT would realistically tackle because I'm an autist and VOID decided we're now an epic black ops PMC taking down Hitler Epstein Illuminati

no NVGs

no charges

just bangs

dispatch said shots fired? time to go full lethal with M4 that only has irons

But it's no SWAT4, nah.

Sleep deprived atm but I meant to add that I'd really appreciate if it really were more of a SWAT/cop simulator where sometimes you take a call and have to not be a trigger-happy retard because maybe it's just a domestic issue. But then again it really wouldn't be any fun modeling a game based on how IRL SWAT operates now where some schizo with a gun barricades himself in his house for 8 hours while 30 cops yell from outside and maybe toss tear gas, order food, take a shit in the neighbour's house - that sort of thing.

i got sneak and gun tism so i don't even care for the story all that much.
i am a machine that shoots sacks until terrorists agree to comply

based taste
try door kickers if you haven't

Everyone complains about muh wahmen in WW2

Has amazing movement, no 3D spotting, no bullshit annoying gadgets or vehicles

It's not a perfect game, automatic weapons feels like ass and most of the maps aren't good but still way better than what people gave it credit for.

play God Eater Resurrection because of the underboob girl pics posted in Anon Babbleidya girls threads

game turned out to be actually pretty fun

story is decent

characters are likeable

soundtrack is great

that was like 4 years ago and I still replay it from time to time, it was one of the few rare occasions where buying a game with my dick was worth it.

Most of these I had no expectations for going in.
Curse Crackers I was pleasantly surprised by, as I disliked the dev's previous game.
NEO TWEWY I fully expected to be a halfassed shell of a game wearing TWEWY's skin, but it surpassed the original for me in a number of ways. Even the parts that felt halfassed at least had narrative purpose.
Star Ocean Blue Sphere was way ahead of its time, and attempts things little to no other games in the series did. Party members doubling as Zelda items, minigames for item creation instead of just menus, timed hit combo extensions with 9-12 different normal attacks per character dependent on distance and combo length, variable size weight and hit animations between enemies to change how combos come together, part breaking, probably some other shit I'm forgetting. It's rough around the edges in many ways, but quite impressive for a game boy game.

That's another thing. The RoE is complete bullshit. IRL If the suspect is armed at all and not responding to calls all RoE goes out the window. The game is just extremely half assed across the board. Like it's about a SWAT unit...BUT NOT REALLY! You're law enforcement...BUT NOT REALLY! You're not special forces...but you have their gear safe for explosives? Apparently your department is rich enough to afford $100k NVGs and bearcats but you don't have money for a marksman? And instead of putting more flesh on those bones the devs are working on better AI and more missions.

Just feels like a tactical cosplay sim, really. Someplace for guys to go "super CAG bro" and install a mod to let them run and go high-speed seal team 69 and spam the suspects with beanbags before going to lockers and seeing what beard oil looks best on their tatted up Judge. It sucks because the game had some sort of set identity with the early trailers/previews but maybe something happened up the chain

something happened up the chain

A lot happened and a lot more is happening. I think the devs themselves don't know what the game is supposed to look like when it's done. If ever.

VTMB
Symphonic Rain
Black Souls

Jacks game. Besides shitty optimization this game is a gem

Spider man miles morales
Overwatch

I was expecting a souls-like homage, but it turned out to be potentially my favourite Souls-like title. Could be even better than the actual Souls titles, hard to tell, as I'm still in the infatuated period.

Awesome-awesome game. For 67% off? It's an absolute steal.

Was this actually good? I heard mixed things. I recently beat 2033 and Last Light and felt like LL ended well enough to not continue.

I'm going to be honest I think one of the reasons why RoN has a lot of problems with it's core design philosophy is due to the devs being from Ireland. I know they've supposedly done a lot of research but I feel like they weren't able to fully cross the cultural gap and so that's why the game has an over the top representation of how SWAT teams actually operate and why there's so many problems with the world and gameplay that will be confusing if you have a basic understanding of criminal justice.

It's got very high ups, possibly highest in the series but also the lowest downs. It sucks the longest portion of the game is Far Cry in a desert.

The weapons sound fantastic at least.

well opening is decent but first map is pure kino and will give you all the game has to offer

Was this actually good?

the first level has hilariously bad graphics but the game in general is good

ground zeroes ? is the whole 20 min amazing ?

you are supposed to replay it and get s ranks across the board on all missions
and it's really good

first map is quite cool, the middle part is pretty mid, then the final steers it back to great. dlc is also very good. getting into firefights with human npcs is kino despite stealth feeling like the more natural appealing option at times.
