True! I think the sprite work and art has seen a significant improvement though.

I was very very happy with Samurai Remnant and I honestly think it made great use of its format for a Fate story.

It's not perfect but if you go into it looking for a Fate game it delivers well. I know some people fundamentally just don't fuck with simpler action games but I wouldn't say it sucked.

I just started playing fgo primarily because I was stupid enough to just want to read the story, and let me tell you, this game is absolutely fucking miserable from every other aspect.
It has abysmal UI, full of absolutely arcane systems that aren't explained adequately anywhere, has extremely questionable translations in what it DOES explain, missing systems that are required of literally every other game of its genre to even be considered playable (auto-battles to skip grinding), can't skip lengthy combat animations, you have to basically finish the entire game in order to be able to participate in the latest events (which in my experience has somewhat amusingly made me decide to power through the game so I can just read the story through the logs later) and that isn't even getting into its problem with having so many different forms of currency making it borderline impossible for a new player to be able to get their servants up to speed, to the point where I am actually having problems with the basic story content.
Some of these I'd say are pretty normal gacha game problems, but so many of them are entirely unique to FGO in an industry where you really can't afford to have such stupid fucking problems.

Besides that, from the perspective of the series as a whole, they seem to have an absolutely fucking nonsensical production schedule. They put out the first episode of strange/fake multiple years ago and just haven't continued it yet for some reason? Anime have been announced, produced, and aired to completion in the same period of time. Frankly, it is wild how fate still has any kind of cultural cachet left these days.
