True. I bought it then downloaded that calamity pack because somebody said it was sick. Then I uninstalled when I realized there's a depth to this game I wasn't wanting to commit to.

I wouldn't say so, I'd say it has an appropriate amount of content for a multiplayer game you're intended to replay multiple times.
Master mode sucks but is a total meme, and you only really need to visit one special seed and drunkworld is good enough.
Not to mention they're going to make a "Sky Island" mode that isn't designed for retards to make a 900 hour youtube series on until someone who actually wants to play something realizes they fucked up one of the early "progression" gates and you can skip to fun shit, realize there's nothing to it and then it gets abandoned, before being immediately sequelized Every fucking skyblock minecraft mod pack, and the original skyblock map

People have no appreciation for games and wanting them to be dumbed down and castrated to fit the tiny amount of gaming time their job and wife allows them to have is pure cancer.

The funny thing is a normal playthrough of terraria is completely doable within a light gaming timeframe
Even if we aren't talking about doing shit like killing Duke Fishron at the start of hardmode (very do-able, especially on normal mode)

Shitshacks are pretty easily upgradable into nice looking houses, some important stuff to keep in mind is

Get a hammer and add some fucking CORNERS

Vary up the height of your ground floor

Put a roof on it

Vary up the sizes of rooms

Use actual furniture

You do this and you'll be surprised how easy it is to make a nice looking house

Don't do the minecraft shit of spamming random painted blocks for "texture", you're not a youtuber desperately trying to strangle out something that looks decent out of 30 of the same textured plank from 32 chunks away, stuff is actually designed to look good in Terraria.

Oh well first to get some new equipment you might want to gear up and check out your evil biome, you might be able to find some good stuff there.
As for wings, check up in the clouds.
Generally the simplest way to get new stuff is to fight bosses that you haven't defeated before.

explore the god damn world you made and find the huge area at the bottom of it that is filled with lava and semi-regularly spawns a flying lava-proof enemy that drops a non-flying non-lava-proof item that does something when it inevitably drops inside or into lava
