In light of all unreal engine slops coming out, Anon Babble should apologize to the most kino game engine ever.

The ceo got too greedy.
Unity is not perfect by any means but at least those games can run acceptably on my rig
*changes the terms and conditions so you have to pay money every time a user installs your game*
*attempts - and succeeds - at making it retroactive*
Your games are mine now, sucker
was pushed back by literally everyone else at the company, fired, had the policies walked back and even improved in the consumer's favor
when was the last time a company ever did anything like that when a ceo turned into a megajew?
Unreal at least has good render, Unity has atrocious performance but looks like Gen7 game
Yeah and look infinitely worse.
yfw you didn't fall for the outrage chimpouts and continued using Unity
Recently they started to threat devs by revoking the license if ai(?) decided some devs in the studio avoid paying and use a free version
unity 6 is ok
the hdrp team is gone though, so it'll be interesting to see what happens with urp and scriptable render pipeline in unity 7, and if the nanite/lumen systems get merged in
the ceo is gone
proof?
Rust devs, spacestaion devs, Google it
runtime fee killed before it ever made it out of the gate
devs log in using their work credentials/emails to the free version of unity
unity sends them an email because they also have a licensed version asking them for clarification on what they're doing
dev company chimps out rather than clearing the air
unity inc is correct, that’s a huge no no in the business world
Look up the Facepunch (Rust devs) and Space Station 14 incidents from late 2024. Unity flagged devs using personal accounts that were tied to studios also using Pro or Enterprise licenses. Emails were sent threatening revocation or demanding license upgrades. The whole thing blew up on dev Twitter and GitHub—search "Unity license revocation controversy" and you'll find plenty.
So they broke the license agreement?
you forgot to include the part where they added "devs" that never worked with them to the list to try to extort more money
I never left. Unlike you mindless losers who get all of your information from ragebaiting YouTubers, I use a little something called "intuition".
how hard is it to make a game with it for a complete retard noob?
Not hard. Making a good game, however..
only """"evidence"""" of this is from the devs being questioned about their license usage habits, with no actual proof aside from hearsay
To be very clear, we don't know the full story about this seemingly new policy, which doesn't appear to have been made public by Unity on any of its social media channels or official website. Newman's tweet is also fairly vague, only really complaining about how he feels like he's being unjustly punished for the success of his studio's own game. We don't have the full picture just yet, though Unity skeptics will probably be braced for the worst.
no update to this apparent fiasco in seven months
big nothingburger, if this was actually something then you know the devs being "attacked" would have been more vocal about what the outcome was
can't find anything relating to the SS14 devs and unity licenses, please post source if you have it because otherwise you're just full of shit
did find this tho
pcgamer.com
only source is a reddit article
OP gets proven to be making a big deal out of nothing by the commentors
facepunch is big enough to know how commercial licenses work
Garry is retarded
Get on outta here you low quality dragon knight !
and yet after that one tweet never posted anything on the topic ever again, curious
This is how Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, etc. all the big evil corpos work. They maintain lists of potential license violations and sit on them until they feel like they have enough to cause a stir. They then leak a bit of it to the affected company with the veiled threat that they *could* *legally* demand an audit. Company panics, buys licenses for all the gray area stuff that legally they shouldn't have to but they don't want to risk an audit and fines so they pay up.
Unity is a smaller player, they are just learning the ropes on the bullshit. Give them time.
b-but it COULD maybe potentially become something in 20 years if my headcanon becomes true!!!!
I don't buy games made with Unity or Godot. Seethe
You know I'm right.
competent businesses will not let employees use non-commercial/unlicensed software
based. when is your cringekino coming out?
fuck off, pedophile
leave 1GB indie unity game open for too long
RAM usage goes up to 30 GB with no sign of stopping
Not that I'm defending UE but Unity isn't exactly perfect either.
from fucking yesterday nigga, they changed nothing
competent businesses will not let employees use non-commercial/unlicensed software
It's rarely about outright unlicensed software. Usually it's about ambiguity in the license. Adobe lets you install creative cloud on your work desktop and your home machine but not run them at the same time. This is for practical reasons. But what if their totally correct and 100% not bullshit system says you have been running them both at the same time? That's a license violation right? But you know that you didn't because it's just you and most likely your work machine just restarted a service and logged in automatically while you were at home. And now you've got legal telling you that Adobe says they have "evidence" of 50+ similar license violations.
You are sure you did nothing wrong, but what about the other 49? So you phone your rep and work out an arrangement so they don't send the heavies or cancel your licenses.
It's extortion, but it's cheap extortion so companies pay it.
Microsoft and their CALs are the same. Nobody, not the sales rep, nor Microsoft legal know truly how to accurately determine how many CALs you need for all situations. And they like it that way, because no matter how many you have, they can always claim you don't have enough, and they are cheap enough and sold in bundles so you can just buy them and get back to work. Extortion.
manually call for GC every once in a while
reminder this was the "tech" they were going to use to charge for install fees
dev: our game was downloaded 100 times from the app store, where did those 1 million installs came from?
unity: don't question our data!
NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND LICENSE
NO YOU
NO YOU
NO YOU
meanwhile me workin in godot not caring
Shooting for later this year. We have more completed levels than Coom Shit Angel, and that game was in development for a longer period, is just 2D, and features no voice acting. Also have a dope ass website spun up.
You do know that only works if what you're saying is true, right? Don't tell me you're trying to normalize that degeneracy by spamming the word to such a degree that people become desensitized to it, you creep.
tranny engine
dope ass website spun up.
link?
all engines are tranny engines if you didn't make them yourself.
why would I pick the one that has corpo cancer too
I gotchu. It's still under construction, but it's up and you can even access it with the game:
fygoon.com
FROM N-TYPE STUDIOS
is that short for intuition?
The only reason you're virtual signaling so hard is to hide your past of pedophilia
Okay here goes, sorry Source Engine. There, happy?
No, it's because some stupid Chinamen stole the dope name "NGames" in 2010 while I was five to publish their gay anime games. When I learned that when I was in middle school, since I was using that name with my buddies, I was PISSED and turned to Wikipedia for inspiration for a cool name.
This was the name I selected:
en.wikipedia.org
I'll switch to godot one of these days, but currently I don't like how the devs are burying their heads in the sand about C# performance.
They need to move on from GDscript just like unreal and unity did with their scripting languages.
In my "past", I was in high school you r-tard. I would tell you to go touch grass, Kannadev, but we both know you've never even breathed fresh air, let alone touch grass.
