I love rpgs and Expedition 33 is good. It's a bit overhyped by people acting like it's a 10/10 but it's an 8.5 at least. If you haven't played a lot of rpgs it probably shoots up an entire point when you don't realize which games they're taking notes from but even if you do, it's still a great game.

Emerald Beyond has more than just combat though, you make more choices in an hour of EB than the entirety of E33, the ramification of its campaigns are on a whole different level, the game progression in general is wholly unique and actually innovative, fusing RPG mechanics with various traditional tabletop formulae.

It's not. It's a very good game, but it's just a normal amount of good. Or, well, it's a normal amount of good in terms of good video games. I guess there is so much slop releasing that it might make E33 seem like a masterpiece, but it's not. It's just a good game. It's not 10/10 material. The most impressive part of the game is that the guy who did the OST was found on Soundcloud.
