Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

you are... a cop!

It's lame for a rogue trader

Arbites Rogue Trader with shotgun spec

Idira with new archetype

Yeah it's probably gonna be busted until Owlcat fun police arrives.

As opposed to just a psyker origin? Knowing the origin ranks they'll probably make you a justicar or a marshall for the background, for flavor. Just like how the Imp Guard captain is a decorated veteran.

Busted is an understatement, bro. Arbites shotgun spec is going to delete anything that breathes within 10 meters. Combine that with Idira getting a support/control archetype and it's straight up power fantasy. Watch stun-locks and AoE debuffs turn every encounter into a firing squad. Owlcat’s gonna need a whole squad of nerf bat swinging interns to fix this mess. Until then? We ride.

Definitely turning off my auto update to analyse every small patch they release after dlc.

Still can't beat the heavy bolter build

for Argenta or the Rogue Trader?

If the DLC doesn't add a proper waifu I'm not playing the game again or buying it.

the companion is male. Kibbellah wasn't a proper enough waifu?

a cop

*judge dredd

Is that a..human but cop?!?!Yooooo we did it lore bros...Its incredible we have this expanding universe of humans who have different backgrounds. Sometimes it feels like the whole fanbase is the meme of human male warrior in wow personified

Wasted potential: The game

That's every Owlcat game

Its actually judge dread, but 40k chud

I liked wotr but that's just me

playable arbites

extremely based

i like the arbiters but i kinda want more non Dogmatic companions

I won't replay this game.

For both of course

Cant wait for all the new banter.

homosolders

The paradox is that we'll get the non dogmatic companions for Dark Heresy

Fucking love Pasqal

autism.jpg - 1280x519, 113.06K

He's certainly interesting

Weren't Owlcat going to have full voice acting going forward? Will this be the case for the new companion?
Waste of resources if you ask me.

in new games. not this.

Good. We'll see how it goes.

Waste of resources if you ask me.

My thoughts exactly but its what the Larian normalfags want and Owlcat is just following the money I guess.

Sounds to me like chasing an audience which does not exist. I mean that in the audience that buys Owlcat games and those that buy BG3. Very different types, and the sales have gone well for Owlcat so far.

this navigator portrait is so much cooler than Cassia's. Ultimately masked>non masked. Cool factor ups by 100.

Kinda hard to be interested in any new archetypes origins when the gameplay is ass. You have to be bad at video games or purposely gimp yourself (which ruins the fun of building a chracter) to have an interesting challenge. Owlcat either doesn't care or they just aren't very good at their own game to see the problem.

BG3 won.

The problem with Rogue Trader is the partial homebrew mechanics mixed with RT and DH PnP. Ultimately they should have gone more balls to the walls and stayed closer to the very deadly PnP style.

cops are cool

DLC soon

How soon? Two weeks?

I love how long she looks in her portrait

I think the deadliness of the PnP is somewhat over-exaggerated but I agree. Outside of it being a d% system and the names of stats and some skills it has almost nothing in common with the PnP games. Owlcat chose to add Pathfinder build autism into a system that didn't have or need it.

I'm guessing the new DLC will require starting a new game? I'm currently 80 hours deep (about to escape Commorragh), the current DLC content has been great but man I'm not going to start over just to be Judge Dredd.

How do you feel about Yrliet now?

I saw somewhere that Ulfar VA trooned out. Do you think it means that he won't get new VA in new expansions anymore

She's a retard and should be killed for being a xenos retard. HOWEVER she does a lot of damage and I like her voice, so she can stay.

40kk.jpg - 548x559, 45.67K

Shouldn't have been scraping by doing the bare minimum for years only for Larian to utterly expose them and the other lazy CRPG hacks.

I'd much rather they invest their limited resources in things I actually care about, like RPG systems, choices and consequences and bug fixing, instead of voice acting for illiterate retards.

the world isn't built for us, man. Too big brained for our own good.

invest their limited resources in things I actually care about, like RPG systems, choices and consequences and bug fixing

they can't even do that, so I can't imagine how shit their next game will be

They have a bigger team now, as far as I understand, so that might make things easier, but can't say I have a lot of hope if full voice acting is now mandatory.

They have a bigger team now

they had a bigger team every game and still can't bugfix worth shit, it may be even worst now

Ulfar is now Ulfa.

Larian proved you can do both. They completely buckbroke other devs and exposed them for the hacks they are. It's why they were all seething and running damage control when it released.

all they proved is that they can do it all for one act before the burden becomes too much and they have to drop something which was the writing and the story

That's literally every Owlkek game as well

22, trust the plan

Based rationalist

Larian proved you can do both.

Yeah, when you have unlimited Tencent money and no deadlines. Not every developer is that fortunate.

Not wrong

Anon you're in an owlcat thread, they're buckbroken by Larian and will never admit it

literally had to include more reactivity as a stretch goal for WotR

even after reaching it there's barely any and it's mostly just early game

That was so funny, I even backed it because of that and I got shit in return. Not to mention the backing unlocked the worst dungeon in the entire game.

>>even after reaching it there's barely any and it's mostly just early game

So just like Baldurs Gate 3 then?

Baldurs Gate 3 has more reactivity than all Owlcat games combined so far. That's just a simple fact.

No, and you may try to pretend all you want, but even if BG3 falls apart late-game like every Larian game it still has more consistent reactivity than WotR which is mostly frontloaded

We're not measuring a dick here, bigger isn't always better, if they're incompetent they'll remain incompetent even if you add more people. In fact it could be even worse if they don't have as much experience as Owlcat does and worse still, if they try to make a game with higher production values. Never forget that this game's launch was actually worse than WotR's, they actually went a step back somehow after releasing WotR in a better state than KM (and by that I mean that at least it had an exe)

New Raszard kino just dropped

It's true

Alright, who to bring to Cammorragh! I'm thinking Idira, Argenta, Yrliet, Abelard, Kibbellah?

I want to see the new companion repeatedly try to arrest Yrliet.

Abelard

Not him.

Why? Isn't the game counting on you to take him?

i didn't really notice any big quality drops in RT, but I haven't played their other games

May I ask why?
NTA, but personally I started with Kingmaker because I heard it was good though I had no experience with Pathfinder, but I learned I alot. When Rogue Trader was announced I was hyped because I love the 40k universe.

World's most devout Yrlietfag

Art still hasn't improved

Some people just never improve artistically no matter how many years they draw
I would know

Commoragh isn't a place for old men, anon.

A lot of people will say that the quality drops at act 3, personally I think it drops at act 4. Act 3 is painful to get through, but I think that's fitting since you're in cumrag. Act 4 is just super disappointing though, it's act 2 but with a tenth of the content. The only really good thing in it are some of the companion payoffs. And then act 5 comes soon after and again completely cuts you off from the rest of the game, except now you're never getting back to it (and they still let you collect junk to sell for no reason).

I brought Cassia, Pasqal, Abelard, Yrliet and Kibellah. I suggest Pasqal for tech-use checks and Yrliet for obvious story implications. Otherwise I think just bring your favorites.

Still just a bit funny to me. Other companions get big art and fan followings, meanwhile Yrliet gets Raszard.

Yrliet for obvious story implications

You're literally forced to pick her so yes he has to

Not if you kill her beforehand :)

Pasqal is so boring though, too slow of a unit. Everyone else wipes the floor with the enemies before he even gets a turn.

Never happening. I hate missing out on companion content.

Pasqal is so boring though

I'm going to kill you

I almost bought kingmaker once but they just never caught my eye much, they looked kind of generic and weren't popular enough for me to take a risk on any of them.

Yrliet's content is best experienced by not experiencing it at all, anon. She contributes literally negative value to the team and is in fact nothing more than an occasional joke character with the jokes being made at her expense. The game legitimately IMPROVES when Yrliet isn't there to spout her easily countered drivel.

Kingmaker is very much a classic pnp campaign sort of experience, but I think there's enough interesting shit in there. WotR has some higher highs, but I also lower lows.

Nah I disagree, it's like Octavia and Regongar or Camellia and Lann

Garbage?

content

BG3

reactivity

Nigger pls. BG3 has its strong points (like graphics, music and voice acting), but reactivity and C&C is for sure not one of them.

More than Owlcat games

I cheated and made him an operator/arch militant and he was quite sick
I also made abelard an officer and my PC the warrior

abelard the trifles of command bore me, I'll be over here, dueling this demon, be a good lad and tell the boys what to do would you

While, admittedly, that would be a low bar to clear, I don't remember BG3 doing even that much, besides the occasional class-specific quip in a dialog.

Owlcat added Anon Babble to the social media question in their newest annual survey. I'm so glad. It wasn't there last year.

Unpopular opinion but I like Idira. She really grew on me. Her character is fun, she is powerful, and her voice actor does a very good job.
Fuck Jae though, all my homies hate Jae.

occasional class-specific quip

race and the backgrounds you choose also matter, and they're way more frequent than in Owlcat games, especially Pathfinder

Gender too. Drow female vs Drow male, for example.

It's hard for me to get caught up in the story of a high fantasy world these days, I've got such extreme fatigue of them and only room for so many worlds to care about. Rogue trader mechanics were adequately complex but under refined and poorly balanced (ie, too easy to break the game and make it piss easy) and it's hard to imagine owlcats previous games are going to be better in that regard.

If that's the type of content you mean, then WOTR has way more of that in both quantity and quality with mythic paths. Multiple endings too.

for me, blacks go in the airlock

The occasional

mythic path: do X thing that only your mythic path can do

isn't the same as the game actually reacting to what your class, race or background is
and funnily enough depending on your chosen path mythic reactivity is barely there too, because some of them (like trickster) barely have any

You have an extremely broad definition of "mattering"

Except most mythic path "things" actually have consequences and significance beyond some random NPC going "oh, cool, you're a paladin/drow/woman".

They're based on very different systems. That said, the pathfinder games suffer from
a) buff spam (there's a mod for wotr that makes it less tedious)
b) absolute CBT encounters (mandragora swarms the the worst collections of bytes ever produced by computer software)

Idira a cute, Jae pic related

airlock.png - 282x43, 13.94K

Genuinely what were the writers thinking when they wrote Jae. She got plenty of feedback in the Alpha but nothing changed. Same goes for Yrliet and her "reveal".

Clearly they're authors' pets and it is the players who are wrong to criticize them

This is why I play on easy in Pathfinder games. Don't care, it's my kind of fun! Oddly enough Rogue Trader I play on hard, which speaks volumes in so far how much easier it is.

What makes them the author's pets?

I'd rather they invest their limited resources in finishing their fucking games

If she's the author's pet then why is this one of her endings

How is this fat bastard so fucking based

file.png - 1000x1672, 1.7M

Can you hear the people sing!

He takes pride in his work.

abelard, I don't like it when some one subverts my expectations, even for the better
there will be no subversion of any kind on my ship, out the airlock he goes

It's the sideburns.

I think the game needed a more direct competition with another Rogue Trader who is as proactive as you. Gunning for a treasure planet, trying to beat you to the punch.

Ill wait until they bring out the next dlc, with a cute taucow gf

that's what the cut Act 3 was supposed to be, but they decided to do a CBT sequence instead

Owlcat sure loves adding sections that sound cool in premise but suck to play.

cognitive behavioral therapy sequence? cock and ball torture sequence?

Wont be playing until they add powerfists or lightning claws

I stopped at chapter 3 to wait for this dlc only to be told I'd probably have to restart to "experience" the dlcs anyway.
Better be worth it

Woah Yrliet, chill!

DIdyCR9.jpg - 1012x554, 175.56K

The cowards obviously cut Vyatt as a romance

34g5.png - 788x1023, 842.3K

Void Shadows was probably the best thing Owlcat has ever made, and if it wasn't in the dogshit wrapper that is Rogue Trader I'd even say it could be a good standalone video game.

But I'd hesitate to say it wasn't a fluke.

I never finished rogue trader (I think the lack of xenos companions killed a lot of my enthusiasm) but a big update seems a good excuse to come back to it, and I do like shotguns

considering how much small stuff the last dlc changed throughout the game I was waiting for it to start fresh anyway. Loads of planet events and scenes got reworked to fit in the new plot

Is this the final DLC/final content update? I've been waiting to play Rogue Trader until then (I know it's absolutely playable now but I figured why not wait to see all the content)

the memory of my time with RT is clouded heavily with depression
I'm not sure if I was just depressed or the game was depressing or both

How autistic is Rogue Trader compared to Pathfinder? I'm talking character builds. Do I need to know thousands of different combinations? Does the game make it easy to make poor builds?

Cassia romance shouldve ended in a big happy family
Heirs are non-negotiable

It's significantly easier than pathfinder, so even if you make shit builds you'll get through it just fine. Plus you can respec characters for free a few times.

not quite autistic but still pretty autistic

is this worth a second playthrough?
it was kind of a slog for the first time, although ripping everything apart with ridiculous bolter volleys did kinda make my tip sticky

Not very.
Last I played It was quite easy to steamroll.
By the end, you're deleting demon-engines in a few volleys of fire.
The momentum system was broken as hell.

Unless you're playing on max difficulty or with self-imposed handicaps most people should get through fine.

Does this game have NTR?

for me, spotting the key talents and items and the dogshit useless ones wasn't that hard, but then again maybe I'm just The One. I found several ways to start hitting for thousands or clean sweeping an entire room with various classes naturally and had to play on the highest difficulty setting for most of the game

Yes for Cassia and Jae

What type?

Sure, especially if you haven't played kibbles' dlc yet.

is that THEE KIBELLAH-SAN???!!!?

AHHHH WOLFEN MAN I'M GOING INSAAAAAAAAAAAANEEEE

has a TRAITOR written all over his design

one of the most hard working, faithful and wholesome members of your team

How

this game has so much shit that just breaks or doesn't work.
movement points going to retarded levels being one of them
saw a dude with like 60 something at one point

How do I get her portrait to equip her mask again. Her face is repulsive. She looked better in the promo art. MUCH better

We will get more info in about 5 days, Skulls Event showcase.

psyker+Blade Dancer+Executioner RT can get a bajillion MP

doesn't have to move at all to wipe the entire encounter

do they balance their DLC later? i remember trying RT and once i got the dlc assassin dancer she was beyond broken i lost motivation to play and uninstalled

More/less same autistic and synergy build, also read every single talent/perk when leveling up since respec in RT is tedious job and leveling up itself is a chore

I love leveling up in RT, there's so many choices and you level up constantly
Leveling up in Kingmaker could take hours and sometimes not even getting to pick anything was the worst feeling

he doesn't know about the dargonus party DLC

Is heretic still half baked?

Abelard, get anons to come up with planets for us to visit and projects we can do on the ones we have

I can't read chinese

Who the fuck makes a heretic path honestly
